Hydrogen (H2) production from renewable biomass resources plays a significant role in solving the shortage of fossil energy;hence, there is an interest in investigating alternative, cleaner processes. This work intends to study the photocatalytic production of hydrogen from D-(+)-Glucose by using different groups of catalysts that have been prepared (M2+ = Zn, Mg and Ni) M2+/Ti4+ Al3+-LDHs (layered double hydroxides). It is then loaded Pd on the catalyst, and the effect of the composite catalyst, layered double hydroxides, is measured. After calcining, the catalyst for the conversion of Layered Double Hydroxides (LDHs) to Layered Double Oxides (LDOs) is used to produce hydrogen gas from glucose. Photocatalytic reforming of glucose-derived compounds is an efficient method for the production of hydrogen. The purpose is to study the effect of metal ions on layered double oxide (LDO) materials by loading Pd and investigate hydrogen production from glucose. The metal cations in the layer were distributed through the preparation of the catalyst process by ion and atom scale between the layers, which were dispersed systematically, as well as the controlled component catalysis. This process shows that ZnTiAl-LDO had the best effect as a catalyst in producing hydrogen compared to NiTiAl-LDO and MgTiAl-LDO.

BACKGROUND Cervical cancer is a formidable global health issue,particularly affecting women in lower-middle-income countries with little or no access to preventative vaccines,screening programs,and treatment *** case report presents a unique case of a large cervical cancer achieving complete response(CR)with concurrent chemoradiotherapy(CCRT),highlighting the effectiveness of this treatment approach even in advanced stages and underscoring the importance of adaptive radiotherapy(RT)in optimizing patient *** SUMMARY We present the case of a 53-year-old woman who presented with four years of abnormal vaginal bleeding and was found to have p16-positive,moderately differentiated cervical squamous cell *** tumor measured 14 cm×12 cm×8 cm,the largest size reported in the literature to achieve CR with *** this monumental feat,the patient remained disease-free and is currently on follow-up for 2 years;however,she continued to suffer from substantial morbidity caused by a vesicovaginal fistula and hydronephrosis,underscoring the continuing impact of cervical cancer on quality of *** In this case report,we highlight the effectiveness of CCRT in achieving CR,even in cases of bulky cervical cancer,with adaptive RT offering a customized strategy to improve patient *** also emphasize the necessity for multidisciplinary team discussions and highlight the need for strategies to mitigate treatment-related toxicities and long-term complications.

Pearl millet, Pennisetum glaucum (Leeke) R. Br, is the main cereal crop in Niger. This crop is seriously attacked by the millet Head miner (MHM), Heliocheilus albipunctella (de Joannis) (Lepidoptera, Noctuidae) causing significant yield losses. This study to optimize biological control of this pest was carried out in Niger in the laboratory and in a farming environment. In the laboratory, the larval paralysis and emergence of the parasitoid Habrobracon hebetor Say (Hymenoptera: Braconidae) were compared between release jute bags, plastic boxes and cardboard boxes. In a farming environment, direct releases were carried out with plastic boxes and releases with jute bags in 12 villages of the Maradi region during the cropping seasons of 2021 and 2022. The results indicated that 25 larvae of Corcyra cephalonica Stainton (Lepidoptera: Pyralidae) in the boxes were all paralyzed by 2 females of H. hebetor within 7 hours 30 minutes. The emergence of adults began on the 7th day after the beginning of the experiment for a period of two weeks and three weeks respectively in the boxes and jute bags. The production varied from 107.08 to 110.17 parasitoids and was comparable between the Jute bags, plastic boxes and cardboard boxes. In Farmers’ fields, the parasitoid release with the two methods caused the parasitism rates that varied from 64.32 to 66.52% depending on the year but in 2022 the rate of parasitism was higher in the fields with direct releases using plastic boxes (72.66%) compared to those released with jute bags (56.35%). Plastic boxes and cardboard boxes can be used for the production of the H. hebetor parasitoids. These results can be recommended to the cottage industries in the Sahel in order to improve the production and release methods of H. hebetor and make them more adapted to farmers’ fields.

Cowpea, Vigna unguiculata L. Walp, is an important food grain legume in Niger facing production losses due to insect pests. This study aims to determine the efficiency of non-chemical methods for managing these pests. A trial was conducted during the 2020 and 2022 cropping seasons at the INRAN station in the Maradi region. A Fischer experimental design with 6 repetitions was used to compare 4 treatments: synthetic chemical pesticide;the entomopathogenic fungus Beauveria bassiana;aqueous extracts of neem seeds, and control. Observations were carried out every three days. The cowpea pod-sucking bug, pod borer, and thrips were the main insect pests recorded. In terms of effectiveness, the synthetic pesticide was the best treatment. It reduced insect pest densities by 71.35% to 90.40% in 2020 and by 35.11% to 42.13% in 2022. Grain yields varied between treatments. Neem seed extract followed the synthetic pesticide and significantly reduced insect infestations in both years. The synthetic pesticide and neem seed extract resulted in yields 3 to 5 times higher than the control treatment in 2020. By contrast, B. bassiana 115 and neem seed extract produced similar yields in 2022. Therefore, the results of this study showed that B. bassiana 115 and neem seed extract have insecticidal potential and could be used as an ecological alternative for managing cowpea insect pests in the Sahel.

Heat Transfer Optimization for Air-Mist Cooling between a Stack of Parallel Plates

A theoretical model is developed to predict the upper limit heat transfer between a stack of parallel plates subject to multiphase cooling by air-mist *** model predicts the optimal separation distance between the plates based on the development of the boundary layers for small and large separation distances,and for dilute mist *** results show the optimal separation distance to be strongly dependent on the liquid-to-air mass flow rate loading ratio,and reach a limit for a critical *** these dilute spray conditions,complete evaporation of the droplets takes *** results also show the optimal separation distance decreases with the increase in the mist flow *** proposed theoretical model shall lead to a better understanding of the design of fins spacing in heat exchangers where multiphase spray cooling is used.

Physical modeling of behaviors of cast-in-place concrete piled raft compared to free-standing pile group in sand

Similar to free-standing pile groups, piled raft foundations are conventionally designed in which the piles carry the total load of structure and the raft bearing capacity is not taken into account. Numerous studies indicated that this method is too conservative. Only when the pile cap is elevated from the ground level,the raft bearing contribution can be neglected. In a piled raft foundation, pileesoileraft interaction is complicated. Although several numerical studies have been carried out to analyze the behaviors of piled raft foundations, very few experimental studies are reported in the literature. The available laboratory studies mainly focused on steel piles. The present study aims to compare the behaviors of piled raft foundations with free-standing pile groups in sand, using laboratory physical models. Cast-in-place concrete piles and concrete raft are used for the tests. The tests are conducted on single pile, single pile in pile group, unpiled raft, free-standing pile group and piled raft foundation. We examine the effects of the number of piles, the pile installation method and the interaction between different components of foundation. The results indicate that the ultimate bearing capacity of the piled raft foundation is considerably higher than that of the free-standing pile group with the same number of piles. With installation of the single pile in the group, the pile bearing capacity and stiffness increase. Installation of the piles beneath the raft decreases the bearing capacity of the raft. When the raft bearing capacity is not included in the design process, the allowable bearing capacity of the piled raft is underestimated by more than 200%. This deviation intensifies with increasing spacing of the piles.

Introduction: the left atrial appendage, a dormant embryonic vestige, would play a major role in cardiac hemodynamic changes, volume homeostasis and thrombi formation. It, therefore constitutes a therapeutic target. Its morphology is extremely variable. Objective: it consisted on determining the morphological variations of the left auricle as well as their interest in the prevention of thrombi in the Senegalese. Material and Method: This study was conducted by dissecting 36 fresh hearts from Senegalese anatomical subjects with a sampling of the left atrial appendage, including specimens with normal morphological appearance. Their morphology was studied using the fresh and frozen plaster molding method. The data obtained were analyzed statistically. Results: the average age of the subjects was 33 years, with a sex ratio of 1.06, the cauliflower shape was dominant with 57% of cases and the cactus shape (4%) was less frequent. The cauliflower shape presented a clear angulation compared to the others without statistically significant differences according to age. Conclusion: This work showed a great morphological variability of the left atrial appendage. It can provide an update on the specificity of Senegalese. Taking these variations into account is important in the safe management of hemodynamic conditions and the improvement of the management of recurrent strokes.
