Background The characteristics of patients with acute ischaemic stroke(AIS)and their management vary across regions,which may influence *** examined for differential patterns of outcome between China and non-China participants of the ENhanced Control of Hypertension And Thrombolysis strokE stuDy(ENCHANTED),which tested different alteplase doses in *** ENCHANTED was an international,multicentre,open,blinded-endpoint trial of the effects of low-dose(0.6 mg/kg)versus standard-dose(0.9 mg/kg)intravenous alteplase on 90-day disability outcomes and symptomatic intracerebral haemorrhage(sICH)in 3310 patients with *** Participants(n=1419,48%)in China were younger,and more often male,hypertensive and with prior stroke and coronary artery disease,but less likely to have atrial fibrillation and use antihypertensive,antithrombotic and lipid-lowering agents,compared with non-China patients with *** China participants had more AIS due to large artery occlusion,were treated later and had differing ancillary management,there was no significant difference in 90-day modified Rankin scale scores 2–6(55.6% vs 47.8%;OR,adjusted for baseline and management factors 0.87(95%CI 0.71 to 1.07;p=0.20))and risk of sICH(Safe Implementation of Thrombolysis in Stroke-monitoring Study criteria:1.4% vs 1.8%;p=0.12)compared with non-China *** was no heterogeneity in the treatment effects of low-dose versus standard-dose alteplase between China and non-China *** Patients with AIS recruited to the ENCHANTED trial in China had similar outcomes in response to thrombolysis treatment despite significantly differing demographic,clinical and management factors to patients with AIS in other regions.

There is a strong evidence supporting the hypothesis of synaptic dysfunction as a major contributor to neural circuit and network disruption underlying emotional and mood dysregulation in psychiatric disorders(Simmons et al.,2024).Diverse sets of distinct molecular signaling pathways converge on the synapse to regulate synaptogenesis,synaptic function,and synaptic plasticity in brain regions and circuits through complex interactions organized by numerous multivalent protein scaffolds,including the family of proteins known as A-kinase anchoring proteins(AKAPs).

mine tailings at levels of ca 30 and 300 ppm were added to two plankton communities contained in 60 ton Controlled Experimental Ecosystems (CEE); a third CEE was used as a control. The mine tailings caused (1) a delay in the primary productivity and chlorophyll a maxima; (2) a shift in the size spectrum of primary producers towards autotrophic flagellates compared with diatoms in the control; (3) a suppression of heterotrophic microflagellates; and (4) an increased production of zooplankton compared with the control. Zooplankton were observed to have consumed tailings but no changes were observed in the structure of the zooplankton community as a result of tailings additions.

Electrical energy is essential for modern society to sustain economic *** soaring demand for the electrical energy,together with an awareness of the environmental impact of fossil fuels,has been driving a shift towards the utilization of solar ***,traditional solar energy solutions often require extensive spaces for a panel installation,limiting their practicality in a dense urban *** overcome the spatial constraint,researchers have developed transparent photovoltaics(TPV),enabling windows and facades in vehicles and buildings to generate electric *** TPV advancements are focused on improving both transparency and power output to rival commercially available silicon solar *** this review,we first briefly introduce wavelength-and non-wavelengthselective strategies to achieve *** of merit and theoretical limits of TPVs are discussed to comprehensively understand the status of current TPV *** we highlight recent progress in different types of TPVs,with a particular focus on solution-processed thin-film photovoltaics(PVs),including colloidal quantum dot PVs,metal halide perovskite PVs and organic *** applications of TPVs are also reviewed,with emphasis on agrivoltaics,smart windows and ***,current challenges and future opportunities in TPV research are pointed out.

INTRODUCTION Plant exudates are a common,yet often overlooked food source eaten by 94 mammalian species spread across 6 orders(Nash&Burrows 2010;Cabana et al.2018).However,exudates(including gums,resins,and latex,defined following Cabana et al.2018)contain large amounts of non-digestible carbohydrates and plant secondary metabolites,posing challenges for mammals exploiting this resource(Power 2010).Due to the difficulty of gaining nutrition from exudates,they are not considered a high-quality food source,despite the number of species that consume them(Power 2010;Cabana et al.2018).

A multi-objective model for cordon-based congestion pricing schemes with nonlinear distance tolls

Congestion pricing is an important component of urban intelligent transport *** efficiency,equity and the environmental impacts associated with road pricing schemes are key issues that should be considered before such schemes are *** paper focuses on the cordon-based pricing with distance tolls,where the tolls are determined by a nonlinear function of a vehicles' travel distance within a cordon,termed as toll charge *** optimal tolls can give rise to:1) higher total social benefits,2) better levels of equity,and 3) reduced environmental impacts(e.g.,less emission).Firstly,a deterministic equilibrium(DUE) model with elastic demand is presented to evaluate any given toll charge *** distance tolls are non-additive,thus a modified path-based gradient projection algorithm is developed to solve the DUE ***,to quantitatively measure the equity level of each toll charge function,the Gini coefficient is adopted to measure the equity level of the flows in the entire transport network based on equilibrium *** total emission level is used to reflect the impacts of distance tolls on the *** these two indexes/measurements for the efficiency,equity and environmental issues as well as the DUE model,a multi-objective bi-level programming model is then developed to determine optimal distance *** multi-objective model is converted to a single level model using the goal programming.A genetic algorithm(GA) is adopted to determine ***,a numerical example is presented to verify the methodology.

Smoking influences outcome in patients who had thrombolysed ischaemic stroke:the ENCHANTED study

Background and purpose As studies vary in defining the prognostic significance of smoking in acute ischaemic stroke(AIS),we aimed to determine the relation of smoking and key outcomes in patient participants who had thrombolysed AIS of the international quasi-factorial randomised Enhanced Control of Hypertension and Thrombolysis Stroke Study(ENCHANTED).methods Post-hoc analyses of ENCHANTED,an international quasi-factorial randomised evaluation of intravenous alteplase-dose comparison and levels of blood pressure control in patients who had thrombolysed *** logistic regression models with inverse probability of treatment weighting(IPTW)propensity scores were used to determine associations of self-reported smoking status and clinical outcomes,according to 90-day modified Rankin Scale(mRS)scores and symptomatic intracerebral haemorrhage(sICH).Results Of 4540 patients who had an AIS,there were 1008(22.2%)current smokers who were younger and predominantly male,with more comorbidities of hypertension,coronary artery disease,atrial fibrillation and diabetes mellitus,and greater baseline neurological impairment,compared with *** univariate analysis,current smokers had a higher likelihood of a favourable shift in mRS scores(OR 0.88,95%CI 0.77 to 0.99;p=0.038)but this association reversed in a fully adjusted model with IPTW(adjusted OR 1.15,95%CI 1.04 to 1.28;p=0.009).A similar trend was also apparent for dichotomised poor outcome(mRS scores 2–6:OR 1.18,95%CI 1.05 to 1.33;p=0.007),but not with the risk of sICH across standard *** Smoking predicts poor functional recovery in patients who had thrombolysed *** registration number NCT01422616.
