Mango which is also known as the king of fruits in the country is the second largest growing fruit after citrus in Pakistan. Although mango is being grown in more than hundred countries none of them is comparable to Pakistani mango which is famous for its unique taste all over the world. Pakistan＇s per hectare production is much lower than its potential. The purpose of this study was to assess those factors which are preventing mango growers from getting its potential yield. For this major mango producing area, Muzzaffargarh was selected. The 110 randomly selected farmers were interviewed with a well-designed questionnaire. The mango growers were divided into three categories on the basis of landholding. The Cobb-Douglas model was used to assess the effect of different factors on the productivity. The education level and age of large farmers was found highest among small and medium farmers. Large farmers were enjoying significant high profit per acre with US$519.58 as compared to medium farmers （US$454.15） and small farmers （US$395.10）. The independent variables were explaining almost 89 percent variation in productivity of mango. The significant positive effect of orchard experience, access to extension services, the quantity of NPK, quantity of pesticides and labour cost was found. The age and intercropping practices in mango orchard had a significant negative effect on mango production. Credit facilities must be made available at lower interest rate and the range of extension services must be enhanced to increase the productivity of mango.

Analytical investigations of in situ stress inversion from borehole breakout geometries

This study aims to investigate the feasibility of deriving in situ horizontal stresses from the breakout width and depth using the analytical ***-three breakout data with different borehole sizes were collected and three failure criteria were *** on the Kirsch equations,relatively accurate major horizontal stress(sH)estimations from known minor horizontal stress(sh)were achieved with percentage errors ranging from 0.33%to 44.08%using the breakout *** Mogi-Coulomb failure criterion(average error:13.1%)outperformed modified Wiebols-Cook(average error:19.09%)and modified Lade(average error:18.09%)failure ***,none of the tested constitutive models could yield reasonable sh predictions from known sH using the same approach due to the analytical expression of the redistributed stress and the nature of the constitutive *** consideration of this issue,the horizontal stress ratio(sH/sh)is suggested as an alternative input,which could estimate both sH and sh with the same level of ***,the estimation accuracies for both large-scale and laboratory-scale breakouts are comparable,suggesting the applicability of this approach across different breakout *** breakout depth,conformal mapping and complex variable method were used to calculate the stress concentration around the breakout tip,allowing the expression of redistributed stresses using binomials composed of sH and ***,analysis of the breakout depth stabilisation mechanism indicates that additional parameters are required to utilise normalised breakout depth for stress estimation compared to breakout *** parameters are challenging to obtain,especially under field conditions,meaning utilising normalised breakout depth analytically in practical applications faces significant challenges and remains infeasible at this ***,the normalised breakout depth should still be considered a critical input for any empirical and statistical stres

Effect of ZrSiO_4 on the Friction Performance of Automotive Brake Friction Materials

Friction-wear properties of the ZrSiO4 reinforced samples were measured and compared with those of plain bronze based ones. For this purpose, density, hardness, friction coefficient wear behaviour of the samples were tested. Microstructures of samples before and after sintering and worn surfaces were also investigated by scanning electron microscopy （SEM）, and the wear types were determined. The optimum friction-wear behaviour was obtained in the sample compacted at 500 MPa and sintered at 820℃. Density of the final samples decreased with increasing the amount of reinforcing elements （ZrSiO4） before pre-sintering. However after sintering, there is no change in density of the samples including reinforcing elements （ZrSiO4）. With increasing friction surface temperature, a reduction in the friction coefficient of the samples was observed. However, the highest reductions in the friction coefficients were observed in the as-received samples containing 0. 5% reinforced ZrSiO4. The SEM images of the sample indicated that while bronze-based break lining material without ZrSiO4 showed abrasive wear behaviour, increasing the amount of ZrSiO4 resulted a change in abrasive to adhesive wear mechanism. All samples exhibited friction-wear values, which were within the values shown in SAE-J661 standard. With increasing the amount of reinforcing ZrSiO4, wear resistance of the samples was increased. However samples reinforced with 5% and 6% ZrSiO4 showed the best results.

Iron powders were mixed with graphite powders by 1-15 wt pct to produce block samples using powder metallurgy technique. The powders were blended in a three dimensional blender for 20 min and compacted in a die under 500 MPa by using a one directional press. Sinterability and mechanical properties of the samples with different carbon content were investigated. Sintering process was carried out on a belt furnace with flame curtain in dissociated ammonia atmosphere. Block samples produced were suitable for ASTM B-312 transverse rupture strength test apparatus and were tested with 0.050 kN/s velocity in a press under 100 g load. It was found that graphite amount up to 2 wt pct increased the contact area of particles and acted as a lubricant to affect the sintering behaviour positively. The results indicated that the samples containing up to 5 wt pct showed good sintering behaviour and also good hardness due to an increase in pearlite amount. However, the samples containing higher amount of graphite （more than 5 wt pct） affected the sintering behaviour negatively due to the settlement of free graphite around the Fe powders, which resulted in a decrease in the hardness and transverse rupture strength.

This study intends to determine the pressability and sinterability of AZ91 powder production by gas atomisation method and that of the produced powder for partial ***,first,a gas atomisation unit has been designed and manufactured in the laboratories of the Karabiik University,Department of Manufacturing *** powder production has been achieved at a temperature of 795℃,with nozzle diameters of 2 and 4 mm and four different gas pressures(5,15,25,35 bars).Argon gas has been used for atomisation and as a protective gas *** electron microscope(SEM)is used to determine the shape of the produced AZ91 powder,and a laser particle size analyzer is used to analyze the powder ***,a microhardness(HV0.025)measurement has been conducted to determine the hardness of the produced *** achieve a homogeneous distribution,the produced powders are mixed in a three-dimensional moving turbulator for 30 *** powders have been pressed at 300,400,500 and 600 MPa and have been sintered at 500℃,550℃and 600℃.Additionally,the density values have been determined before and after sintering of the *** images have been obtained from the fractured surfaces of the samples before and after *** and EDX analyses have been performed to determine the chemical ***,microhardness(HV0.5)is obtained from the pressure surfaces of the samples to determine the effects of the pressing pressure and the sintering temperature on the *** a result of the experimental studies,it has been observed that the powder size decreases with the increase in gas pressure and that the powder shape generally changes from ligament and complex shape to droplet and spherical *** the XRD,XRF and EDX results,it has been determined that the structure comprises an a phase(Mg main matrix)and Mg17Al12 interphase,which isβphase,and very small amounts of MgO have been *** hardness of the produced powders increas

The oligo（azomethine ether）s were synthesized via polycondensation of alkyl diamines with aromatic dialdehydes. Two series of dialdehydes, namely 2,2＇-[1,2-phenylenebis（methyleneoxy）]dibenzaldehyde [2,2＇-1,2-（PBMODB）] and 2,2＇- [1,4-phenylenebis（methyleneoxy）]dibenzaldehyde [2,2＇-I,4-（PBMODB）] were prepared from the condensation reactions of salicylaldehyde with o-xylenedibromide and p-xylenedibromide, respectively. The structures of dialdehydes and oligomers were determined by FT-IR, 1H-NMR and 13C-NMR. The thermal analyses of oligomers were conducted by DSC and TG/DTA techniques, respectively. Size exclusion chromatography （SEC） technique was also used to determine molecular weights and molecular weight distributions of oligomers. Electrochemical properties of the synthesized products were investigated.

Underground coal mining is inherently hazardous,with uncontrolled ground failure regarded as one of only several critical risks for multiple fatality ***,implementation and management of overarching systems and procedures for maintaining strata control is an important step to mitigating the impact of ground failure hazards at a mine site operational *** paper summarised the typical pro-active ground control management system(PGCMS)implemented in various Australian underground coal *** produces approximately 100 million tonnes a year of metallurgical and thermal coal from approximately 30 of the world’s safest longwall mines operating in New South Wales and *** increased longwall productivity required to achieve both high levels of safety and profitability,places significant emphasis on the reliability of pro-active ground control management for longwall mining *** depths,adverse geological conditions,elevated variable stress regimes and weaker ground conditions,coupled with an industry wide need for increased development rates continue to make ground control management *** control management is not only about ground support and pillar design though but also a structured process that requires a coordinated effort from all levels of the workforce to both minimise the occurrence of adverse geotechnical events and mitigate the potential risks when they do *** PGCMS presented in this paper is proven to provide both a safer and more productive mine environment through minimisation of unplanned *** critical elements of the method are presented in detail and demonstrate the utility and value of a ground control management system that has potential for implementation in underground coal mining globally.
