To evaluate the potential effect of Ankaferd Blood Stopper(ABS)and oxytocin(OT)in an experimental endometriosis model,18 female Sprague Dawley rats were used in this *** animals were divided randomly into three groups after surgical induction of endometriosis:group 1:control group(isotonic NaCl,1 mL/kg/day,intramuscular,n=6);group 2:OT group(OT,80 U/kg/day,intramuscular,n=6);group 3:ABS group(ABS,1.5 mL/kg/day,intraperitoneal,n=6).Each group was treated for four weeks(two times per week).Volumes of endometriotic explants were measured in biopsy samples for histopathological *** endothelial growth factor(VEGF),monocyte chemotactic protein-1(MCP-1),and tumour necrosis factor(TNF-α)levels were measured in plasma and peritoneal *** explant volumes were significantly decreased after OT administration(P<0.0001).The epithelial score was significantly decreased in both treatment groups compared to the control group(P<0.05).TUNEL immunohistochemistry showed more apoptotic changes in the endometriosis foci(gland epithelium and surrounding tissue)in the OT group than in the control group(P<0.05).The levels of VEGF,MCP-1,and TNF-αwere significantly reduced in the OT group(P<0.05),whereas no significant changes in protein levels were found in the ABS-applied *** results indicate that OT has greater potential as a therapeutic agent in experimentally induced peritoneal endometriosis,where ABS,which is a VEGF modulator,appears to act through different mechanisms to show its palliative effects on a rat model of peritoneal endometriosis.

The control and management of mining-induced seismic hazards have attracted ever-rising attention, especially in underground longwall coal mines, where continuous mining activities dynamically alter the stress states and induce seismic events. In this work, the Epidemic Type Aftershock Sequence (ETAS) model was applied to formulate the aftershock catalogue of mining-induced seismicity and investigate the formation of event triggering associated with longwall mining. The conventional Baiesi and Paczuski method (2004) was used to separate longwall mining-induced seismic events into triggered and nontriggered catalogues. The latter catalogue contains both non-triggering (NT)-isolated events that do not trigger subsequent events and NT-parent events of the former catalogue. Statistical properties of triggered events were analysed spatially and temporally. The temporal triggering sequence follows the Omori-Utsu law, where the temporal decay of aftershocks is influenced by the magnitude of NT-parent events in mining-induced seismicity. The spatial distribution of aftershocks follows an inverted U-shaped relationship with distance to their corresponding NT-parent events. The quantitative forecasting of triggered events was performed based on the nonhomogeneous Poisson distribution, which achieved a good consistency with their NT-parent events. Amongst the non-triggered catalogue, NT-isolated events are concentrated ahead of NT-parent events, potentially acting as foreshocks for the latter. Borehole breakout is a widely utilised phenomenon in horizontal stress orientation determination,and breakout geometrical parameters,such as width and depth,have been used to estimate both horizontal stress ***,the accuracy of minimum horizontal stress estimation from borehole breakout remains relatively low in comparison to maximum horizontal stress *** paper aims to compare and improve the minimum horizontal stress estimation via a number of machine learning(ML)regression techniques,including parametric and non-parametric models,which have rarely been *** models were trained based on 79 laboratory data from published literature and validated against 23 field data.A systematic bias was observed in the prediction for the validation dataset whenever the horizontal stress value exceeded the maximum value in the training ***,the pattern was captured,and the removal of systematic bias showed that the artificial neural network is capable of predicting the minimum horizontal stress with an average error rate of 10.16%and a root mean square error of 3.87 MPa when compared to actual values obtained through conventional in-situ measurement *** is a meaningful improvement considering the importance of in-situ stress knowledge for underground operations and the availability of borehole breakout data.

AIM:To evaluate the effect of silicone oil removal(SOR) on central corneal thickness(CCT) in aphakic and pseudophakic eyes prospectively.· METHODS:Patients who underwent SOR surgery between June 2005-August 2007 were included in this *** oil was actively removed behind the posterior capsule through the pars plana sclerotomy site(posterior approach) in pseudophakic eyes and through the pupil and the corneal tunnel incision(anterior approach) in aphakic eyes with the 18-gauge *** was assessed with Orbscan II corneal topography system preoperatively and at one month and three months postoperatively.A total of 34 eyes of 34 patients(26 males,8 females) comprised the study *** age was(55.6±12.3) years(Range:25-80 years).Twenty-six eyes(76.5%) were pseudophakic and 8(23.5%) *** time between silicone oil injection and removal was(15.1±13.6) months(Range:5-54 months).At baseline,CCT was 576.4±46.0μm in pseudophakic eyes and 611.6±36.2μm in aphakic eyes.· RESULTS:At the first postoperative month CCT was(573.3±40.1)μm and(630.9±72.9)μm in pseudophakic and aphakic eyes *** the third postoperative month,CCT was(582.7±49.5)μm and(614.5±82.4)μm in pseudophakic and aphakic eyes *** was no statistically significant difference in CCT measurements one month and 3 months after SOR when compared to preoperative values in both aphakic and pseudophakic eyes(P> 0.05).· CONCLUSION:Active SOR either by anterior or posterior approach did not affect the CCT.·

Rock failure process as a natural response to mining activities is associated with seismic events, which can pose a potential hazard to mine operators, equipment and infrastructures. Mining-induced seismicity has been found to be internally correlated in both time and space domains as a result of rock fracturing during progressive mining activities. Understanding the spatio-temporal(ST) correlation of mininginduced seismic events is an essential step to use seismic data for further analysis, such as rockburst prediction and caving assessment. However, there are no established methods to perform this critical task. Input parameters used for the prediction of seismic hazards, such as the time window of past data and effective prediction distance, are determined based on site-specific experience without statistical or physical reasons to support. Therefore, the accuracy of current seismic prediction methods is largely constrained, which can only be addressed by quantitively assessing the ST correlations of mininginduced seismicity. In this research, the ST correlation of seismic event energy collected from a study mine is quantitatively analysed using various statistical methods, including autocorrelation function(ACF), semivariogram and Moran’s I analysis. In addition, based on the integrated ST correlation assessment, seismic events are further classified into seven clusters, so as to assess the correlations within individual clusters. The correlation of seismic events is found to be quantitatively assessable, and their correlations may vary throughout the mineral extraction process.

The K?z?l?rmak River is Turkey?s longest(1,355 km) river and it is important since it constitutes the drinking and irrigation water source of the Central Anatolia Region. In the current study, the spatial distribution, effect on irrigation water quality, environmental pollution status, ecotoxicological and health risks as well as possible sources of 12 potential toxic elements?(PTEs)(manganese(Mn),aluminum(Al), arsenic(As), chromium(Cr), zinc(Zn), iron(Fe), nickel(Ni), cadmium(Cd), cobalt(Co),copper(Cu), mercury(Hg), and lead(Pb)) concentrations from surface water samples in the K?z?l?rmak River were analyzed by using geographical information systems(GIS) software, ecotoxicological indices,and multivariate statistical analysis. As a result of the current study, it was determined that the As concentration is above the World Health Organization(WHO) limit values, and, in terms of the 12 PTEs,there is slight heavy metal contamination in the river according to the Heavy Metal Pollution Index(HPI)and Heavy Metal Evaluation Index(HEI) values and there is a low level of pollution. The Hazard Quotient for ingestion(HQingestion) and Hazard Index(HI) values indicate that non-carcinogenic effects may *** to river water is likely to result in a low level of carcinogenic risk(CR) in adults, mainly due to the As concentration. The water at Sampling Station S3(131.79) cannot be used for drinking and is not suitable for consumption. According to the sodium percentage(Na%), Sodium Absorption Ratio(SAR),and Magnesium Hazard(MH) index results, river water is suitable for agricultural use.
