GA-Stacking:A new Stacking-Based Ensemble Learning Method to Forecast the COVID-19 Outbreak

As a result of the increased number of COVID-19 cases,Ensemble Machine Learning(EML)would be an effective tool for combatting this pandemic *** ensemble of classifiers can improve the performance of single machine learning(ML)classifiers,especially stacking-based ensemble *** utilizes heterogeneous-base learners trained in parallel and combines their predictions using a meta-model to determine the final prediction ***,building an ensemble often causes the model performance to decrease due to the increasing number of learners that are not being properly ***,the goal of this paper is to develop and evaluate a generic,data-independent predictive method using stacked-based ensemble learning(GA-Stacking)optimized by aGenetic Algorithm(GA)for outbreak prediction and health decision aided ***-Stacking utilizes five well-known classifiers,including Decision Tree(DT),Random Forest(RF),RIGID regression,Least Absolute Shrinkage and Selection Operator(LASSO),and eXtreme Gradient Boosting(XGBoost),at its first *** also introduces GA to identify comparisons to forecast the number,combination,and trust of these base classifiers based on theMean Squared Error(MSE)as a fitness *** the second level of the stacked ensemblemodel,a Linear Regression(LR)classifier is used to produce the final *** performance of the model was evaluated using a publicly available dataset from the Center for Systems Science and Engineering,Johns Hopkins University,which consisted of 10,722 data *** experimental results indicated that the GA-Stacking model achieved outstanding performance with an overall accuracy of 99.99%for the three selected ***,the proposed model achieved good performance when compared with existing baggingbased *** proposed model can be used to predict the pandemic outbreak correctly and may be applied as a generic data-independent model 3946 CMC,2023,vol.74,no.2 to pre

Cadmium Selenide Polymer Microfiber Saturable Absorber for Q-Switched Fiber Laser Applications

We demonstrate the generation of a Q-switching pulse train in an erbium-doped fiber laser （EDFL） cavity using a newly developed cadmium selenide （CdSe） based saturable absorber （SA）. The SA is obtained by embedding CdSe nanomaterials into a polymethyl methacrylate （PMMA） microfiber. It is incorporated into an EDFL cavity to generate a Q-switched laser operating at 1533.6nm. The repetition rates of the produced pulse train are tunable within 37–64kHz as the pump power is varied from 34mW to 74mW. The corresponding pulse width reduces from 7.96μs to 4.84μs, and the maximum pulse energy of 1.16nJ is obtained at the pump power of 74mW.

Decoration of vertically aligned TiO2 nanotube arrays with WO3 particles for hydrogen fuel production

WO3 decorated photoelectrodes of titanium nanotube arrays （W-oxide TnTAs） were synthesized via a two-step process, namely, electrochemical oxidation of titanium foil and electrodeposition of W-oxide for various interval times of 1, 2, 3, 5, and 20 min to improve the photoelectrochemical performance and the amount of hydrogen generated. The synthesized photoelectrodes were characterized by various characterization techniques. The presence of tungsten in the modified TnTAs was confirmed using energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy （EDX）. Field emission scanning electron microscopy （FESEM） and high resolution transmission electron microscope （HRTEM） proved the deposition of W-oxide as small particles staked up on the surface of the tubes at lower deposition time whereas longer times produced large and aggregate particles to mostly cover the surface of TiO2 nanotubes. Additionally, the incorporation of WO3 resulted in a shift of the absorption edge toward visible light as confirmed by UV-Vis diffuse reflectance spectroscopy and a decrease in the estimated band gap energy values hence, modified TnTAs facilitated a more efficient utilization of solar light for water splitting. From the photoelectrochemical measurement data, the optimal photoelectrode produced after 2 min of deposition time improved the photo conversion efficiency and the hydrogen generation by 30% compared to that of the pure TnTA.

Delaying surgery after neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy improves prognosis of rectal cancer

AIM To investigate the prognostic effect of a delayed interval between neoadjuvant chemoradiotherapy(CRT) and surgery in locally advanced rectal *** We evaluated 87 patients with locally advanced mid-or distal rectal cancer undergoing total mesorectal excision following an interval period after neoadjuvant CRT at ?i?li Hamidiye Etfal Training and Research Hospital,Istanbul between January 2009 and January *** were divided into two groups according to the intervalbefore surgery: nd ≥ 8 wk(group Ⅱ).Data related to patients,cancer characteristics and pathological examination were collected and *** When the distribution of timing between group Ⅰ(n = 45) and group Ⅱ(n = 42) was viewed,comparison of interval periods(median ± SD) of groups showed a significant difference of as 5 ± 1.28 wk in group Ⅰ and 10.1 ± 2.2 wk in group Ⅱ(P n follow-up period for all patients was 34.5(9.9-81) *** Ⅱ had significantly higher rates of pathological complete response(p CR) than group Ⅰ had(19% vs 8.9%,P = 0.002).Rate of tumor regression grade(TRG) poor response was 44.4% in group Ⅰ and 9.5% in group Ⅱ(P nse was associated with worse disease-free survival(P = 0.009).The interval time did not show any association with local recurrence(P = 0.79).COnCLUSIOn Delaying the neoadjuvant CRT-surgery interval may provide nodal down-staging,improve p CR rate,and decrease the rate of TRG poor response.

High Performance Oil Resistant Rubber

Blending of polymers has gained much interest due to the fact that, it can be used to produce new polymeric materials with specific properties suitable for some special applications. The blends from acrylonitrile butadiene rubber (nBR), chloroprene rubber (CR) and polyvinyl chloride (PVC) has been designed for products working in contact with oils. The characteristics of the designed blends either binary blends (nBR/PVC or PVC/CR) or ternary blends (nBR/ PVC/CR) were investigated by rheological properties, mechanical analysis and swelling in oil and toluene. It was found that the incorporation of PVC in the blend compositions leads to the decrease in degree of swelling, the penetration rate and the average diffusion coefficient. On the other hand the ultimate tensile strength (UTS), the hardness and strain energy were increased. This was attributed to the plastic nature of PVC, beside its additional behavior as filler. The crosslinking density in the blend vulcanizates under investigations was determined by Flory-Rehner and Mooney-Rivlin [Stress/Strain] equations. The higher values of crosslinking density determined by Mooney-Rivlin can be attributed to the additional physical crosslinks (e.g. entanglements etc), beside the chemical crosslinks determined by swelling in toluene. This study showed that nBR/PVC blends are characterized with high performance oil resistant, which can be recommended to automotive industry.

Influence of Abiotic Elicitors on Accumulation of Thymol in Callus Cultures of Origanum vulgare L.

Callus cultures of Origanum vulgare L. were established from leaf discus on Murashige and Skoog （MS） medium containing different levels of growth regulators, i.e., 2,4-Dichlorophenoxyacetic acid （2,4-D）, naphthalene acetic acid （nAA）, Benzyl Adenine （BA） and Kinetin （Kn） and incubated under dark condition. Callus tissues were employed to study the influence of abiotic elicitors on the production of thymol. Constant weights of callus （300 mg） were cultured on accumulation medium treated separately with each one of elicitors used （50 g/L sucrose, 200 mg/L naC1 and 50 or 100 mg/L proline）. The fresh and dry weights of callus were recorded after six weeks. The result indicated that maximum production of fresh and dry callus weight were 1,014 mg and 46.20 mg respectively achieved at 0.5 mg/L 2,4-D and 3 mg/L BA adding to the medium. Dry callus tissues were extracted with 70% methanol and analyzed by HPLC to determine the concentrations of thymol. The addition of abiotic elicitors to MS medium caused significant reduction in fresh weight of callus compared with control treatment. The concentration of thymol in the callus cultured on control treatment was 146.6 ppm. The data showed that 50 or 100 mg/L proline produced the highest yield of thymol 181.48 ppm and 174.58 ppm respectively, followed by sucrose 162.9 ppm, whereas the treatment with naCI caused reduction in thymol concentration to percentage of 50.56% compared with the control.

In the present work, the collinear equilibrium points of the restricted three-body problem are studied under the effect of oblateness of the bigger primary using an analytical and numerical approach. The periodic orbits around these points are investigated for the Earth-Moon system. The Lissajous orbits and the phase spaces are obtained under the effect of oblateness.
