Complete rectal prolapse in young Egyptian males: Is schistosomiasis really condemned?

AIM To investigate the assumption that schistosomiasis is the main cause of rectal prolapse in young Egyptian males. METhODS Twenty-one male patients between ages of 18 and 50 years with complete rectal prolapse were included in the study out of a total 29 patients with rectal prolapse admitted for surgery at Colorectal Surgery Unit, Ain Shams University hospitals between the period of January 2011 and April 2014. Patients were asked to fill out a specifically designed questionnaire about duration of the prolapse, different bowel symptoms and any past or present history of schistosomiasis. Patients also underwent flexible sigmoidoscopy and four quadrant midrectal biopsies documenting any gross or microscopic rectal pathology. Data from questionnaire and pathology results were analyzed and patients were categorized according to their socioeconomic *** Twelve patients(57%) never contracted schistosomiasis and were never susceptible to the disease, nine patients(43%) had history of the disease but were properly treated. None of the patients had gross rectal polypsand none of the patients had active schistosomiasis on histopathological examination. Fifteen patients(71%) had early onset prolapse that started in childhood, majority before the age of 5 years. Thirteen patients(62%) were habitual strainers, and four of them(19%) had straining dating since early childhood. Four patients(19%) stated that prolapse followed a period of straining that ranged between 8 mo and 2 years. Nine patients(43%) in the present study came from the low social class, 10 patients(48%) came from the working class and 2 patients(9%) came from the low middle social class. CONCLUSION Schistosomiasis should not be considered the main cause of rectal prolapse among young Egyptian males. Childhood prolapse that continues through adult life is likely involved. Childhood prolapse probably results from malnutrition, recurrent parasitic infections and diarrhea that induce straining and prolaps

Estimation of the evaporative losses from Lake Nasser, Egypt using optical satellite imagery

Water shortage in the arid region is an existing and future severe problem that threatens this part of the *** has a limited budget of 55 BM3 per year from the river Nile basin that has always been stored in the Lake Nasser reservoir,southern *** has been estimated that the water losses from the lake ranges from 10 to 20 BM3 a year*** paper discusses the possibility of estimating the surface evaporation from Lake Nasser using optical remotely sensed *** surface energy balance algorithm for land(SEBAL)algorithm was used to estimate the monthly evaporation rate using National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration-Advanced Very high Resolution Radiometer(NOAA-AVhRR)satellite images based on the energy balance *** main variable within these components is the surface temperature,which was calculated by a calibrated split window equation from the remotely sensed ***-four satellite images during the year 2008 were used to estimate the maximum and minimum evaporative losses from the lake at 16.3 and 12.5 BM3 year1,*** compared with the Penman-Monteith mathematical formula,a high correlation was obtained with r2*** study demonstrated that remotely sensed data can provide a robust estimate of evaporative losses from Lake Nasser that can aid decision makers in better management and Digital Earth studies.

Geochemical constraints and uranium potential of the younger granitic rocks in el Maghrbia area, Central Eastern Desert, Egypt

The present work deals with the mineralogy,geochemical behavior and uranium potentiality of the monzogranites of el Maghrbia area,which comprise *** Maghrbia and *** Eredyia and situated in the central Eastern Desert of ***-Erediya monzogranites represents a promising area for uranium *** granites have shear zone filled with red and black silica veins containing many radioactive anomalies with visible yellow secondary uranium *** shear zone is highly affected by different degrees of alterations such as silicification,kaolinitization,sassuritization and *** of el-Erediya area possess higher values of their radioactivity than in el Maghrbia monzogranites in which eU and eTh,reaches up to 792.3 and 66.81 ppm,whilst average content of eU and eTh in el Maghrabia granites are 3.86 and 8.55 ppm,respectively owing to the presence of radioactive minerals such as uraninite,uranothorite,uranophane,kasolite,betafite,zircon and *** geochemical analyses indicated that,the studied monzogranites are distinctly anomalous in U,where the average U is more than 620-fold the Upper Continental Crust(UCC),marked enrichment(> tenfold) of the elements Cd,Mo,Pb,Bi,Nb and *** Th/U ratio decreases from 2.8,as a chondritic value,to 0.0023 for the studied granites,proposing extreme fractionation towards an extensive secondary migration-in of *** Zr and hf are depleted in the studied granites relative to the UCC,whereas Nb and Ta are strongly *** content of Y is about sixfold enriched which reflects relative enhancement of the hREE during the alteration *** correlates with Fe_(2)O_(3),suggesting a possible association between uranium and ***,the occurrences of uranium are epigenetic by remobilization from the host rock to the sheared zones,probably through metasomatic process where U-Fe-Mg replaced the feldspars in an oxidized *** high levels of radioactivity in the rocks

Information security is one of the most important methods of protecting the confidentiality and privacy of internet *** greater the volume of data,the more the need to increase the security methods for protecting data from *** task can be challenging for researchers in terms of managing enormous data and maintaining their safety and *** of digital content is a major issue in maintaining the privacy and secrecy of *** this end,digital watermarking is based on the concept of information security through the insertion and detection of an embedded watermark in an efficient *** methodologies in the research on digital watermarking result in data distortion after embedding the *** scenario can reduce the efficiency of detecting watermarks as well as violate data *** study adapts a robust reversible histogram shifting(hS)technique for textual data in relational ***,the study presents a digital watermarking scheme intended for document copyright protection and proof of *** major advantage of the proposed watermarking scheme is that it can protect digital data and preserve data *** the best of our knowledge,this research methodology is promising for use in the hS expansion model for watermarking data on nonnumeric *** addition,the results showed that despite exposing the database to an insertion attacks at 50%and 75%of the watermark,the proposed algorithm can recovermore than half of the embedded watermark in all addition and alteration attacks *** a result,the watermark information can be retained and restored completely.

Effect of high-Frequency electric Field on Propagation of electrostatic Wave in a Non-Uniform Relativistic Plasma Waveguide

The effect of a high frequency （hF） electric field on the propagation of electrostatic wave in a 2D non-uniform relativistic plasma waveguide is investigated. A variable separation method is applied to the two-fluid plasma model. An analytical study of the reflection of electrostatic wave propagation along a magnetized non-uniform relativistic plasma slab subjected to an intense hF electric field is presented and compared with the case of a non relativistic plasma. It is found that, when the frequency of the incident wave is close to the relativistic electron plasma frequency, the plasma is less reflective due to the presence of both an hF field and the effect of relativistic electrons. On the other hand, for a low-frequency incident wave the reflection coefficient is directly proportional to the amplitude of the hF field. Also, it is shown that the relativistic electron plasma leads to a decrease in the value of reflection coefficient in comparison with the case of the non relativistic plasma.

Petrology, geochemistry, radioactivity, and M–W type rare earth element tetrads of el Sela altered granites, south eastern desert,Egypt

The southern part of the Eastern Desert of Egypt—about 30 km southwest of Abu-Ramad city—is mainly covered by ophiolitic rocks(Sul hamed), island arc assemblage, younger granites(muscovite granites of Qash Amer and two mica granites of el Sela), and various acidic and basic dikes. Field, petrological, and geochemical studies indicate that the el Sela shear zone has been subject to hydrothermal and supergene alteration such as kaolinization, albitization, sericitization, and hematitization. It is invaded by quartz ENE–WSW veins associated with hydrothermal alteration accompanied by radioactive mineralization. The investigated younger granitic rocks had very low contents of compatible elements, such as Cr, Ni,and Co; and high contents of incompatible elements, such as Zr, and large ion lithophiles, such as Sr, especially in the el Sela shear zone. Major oxide and trace element analyses revealed calc-alkaline affinity and peraluminous *** highly differentiated granitic rocks' lower Zr/hf and higher Y/ho than the normal ratio are consistent with hydrothermal alteration. Most samples had rare earth element(REE)-patterns with an M-type tetrad effect in the first and fourth segments and a W-type tetrad in the third segment. The average ∑REE in the studied granites was lower than the world granite average; the ratio of light to heavy REEs greater. The main radioactive, uranium-bearing, and uraniferous Fe and Mn minerals are uranothorite,autunite, uranophane and autunite as compounds, kasolite,columbite, xenotime, uranophane-bearing zircon and jarosite, silver-bearing pyrite, hematite, and autunite-bearing pyrolusite.

The results of the metal-insulator transition （MIT） induced by impurity concentration are presented in the case of metallic and insulating samples 70Ge：Ga p-type. The eight samples studied have Ga concentrations N ranging from 1.848 × 1017 to 1.912 × 10^17 cm-3. The conductivity measurements were carried out at low temperature in the range 1 to 0.019 K. We provide physical explanations to explain the behaviors of the temperature dependence of the electrical conductivity in both sides of the MIT. The data are for a 70Ge：Ga sample prepared and reported by Itoh et aL in Ref. [Itoh K M, Watanabe M, Ootuka Y, et al. J Phys Soc Jpn, 2004, 73（1）： 173].
