Improving chilling tolerance in cold-sensitive crops,***,requires knowledge of the early molecular response to low temperature in these under-studied *** elucidate early responding processes and regulators,we captured the transcriptional response at 30 minutes and 3 hours in the shoots and at 3 hours in the roots of tomato post-chilling from 24℃ to 4℃.We used a pre-treatment control and a concurrent ambient temperature control to reveal that majority of the differential expression between cold and ambient conditions is due to severely compressed oscillation of a large set of diurnally regulated genes in both the shoots and *** compression happens within 30 minutes of chilling,lasts for the duration of cold treatment,and is relieved within 3 hours of return to ambient *** study also shows that the canonical ICE1/CAmTA-to-CBF cold response pathway is active in the shoots,but not in the *** stress induces synthesis of known cryoprotectants(trehalose and polyamines),in a CBF-independent manner,and induction of multiple genes encoding proteins of photosystems I and *** study provides nuanced insights into the organ-specific response in a chilling sensitive plant,as well as the genes influenced by an interaction of chilling response and the circadian clock.

This paper proposes the optimum controller for shunt active filter(SAF)to mitigate the harmonics and maintain the power quality in the distribution *** consists of shunt active filter,Voltage Source Inverter(VSI),series inductor and DC bus and nonlinear *** proposed hybrid approach is a combination of Particle Swarm Optimization(PSO)and Artificial Neural Network(ANN)termed as *** PI controller gain parameters of kp and ki are optimized with the help of *** PSOANN improves the accuracy of tuning the gain parameters under steady and dynamic load conditions;thereby it reduces the values of THD within the prescribed limits of IEEE *** PSO optimizes the dataset of terminal voltage and DC voltage present in shunt active filter for different load *** optimized dataset acts as the input for the controller to predict the optimal gain with minimal error and to generate the optimized control signal for the *** proposed methodology is modelled and simulated with the help of mATLAB/Simulink platform and illustrated the few test cases considered for exhibiting the performance of proposed hybrid *** experimental results are measured with developed laboratory prototype and compared with the simulation results to validate the effectiveness of the proposed control methodology.

Thermally insulating and fire-resistant carbon composite foams are prepared by consolidating natural cotton fibre dispersed in aqueous sucrose solution by filter-pressing followed by drying and *** compressive strength(5 kPa to 1.4 mPa)and thermal conductivity(0.069 to 0.185 W m^(-1)K^(-1))depend on the foam density(0.06 to 0.31 g cm^(-3))which is modulated by varying the sucrose solutions concentration(100 to 700 g L^(-1)).Partially flexible to the rigid transition of the carbon composite foams occurs at sucrose concentration above 200 g L^(-1).The tubular carbon fibre formed from cotton is welded at their contact points by the amorphous carbon produced from sucrose leading to partial flexibility at low sucrose concentration and advancement of fibre-to-fibre bonding area at higher sucrose concentration results in rigid *** porosity in the inter-fibre space and lumen of the carbonized cotton fibre contributes to the low thermal *** carbon composite foams prepared at a sucrose solution concentration of 500 g L^(-1) and above are amenable to machining using conventional machines and *** rigid carbon foams show EmI shielding effectiveness and specific shielding effectiveness in the ranges of 21.5 to 38.9 d B and 108-138 dB cm^(3) g^(-1),respectively.

Al-Nakheel beach is located northwest of Alexandria city,Egypt,along the mediterranean *** the period from 1998 to 2003,seven detached breakwaters were constructed along Al-Nakheel beach to create a sheltered area for ***,the structures amplify rip currents,shoreline accretions,and *** aim of this research is to track the variations of the rip currents within the study area and show the effects of the breakwaters on the *** research is based on the hydrodynamic and morphological data of the study area and uses the Delft3D hydrodynamical model combined with other data analysis tools to serve the model *** data include measured sea-level observations in 2013,the ERA-interim wave datasets from 2015 to 2018 and wind data in 2018,bed morphologies,and Google Earth satellite images from 2010 to *** model is calibrated on the basis of the available current measurements within the nearshore *** show that the shoreline eroded at an average rate of about 0.9 m/***,pairs of vortices are formed behind the breakwaters with an average current velocity of 0.6 m/*** predominant northwest waves induce rip currents on the leeside of the structures with velocities reaching 1.2 m/s,associated with the rip pulsation that extends *** problem solution decision recommends the removal of the sand deposition on the leeside of the breakwaters by an average amount of 100000 m3/yr and the fencing of the safe area for swimming by a floating fence of 1000 m length and 65 m average width.

Tumor cell proliferation, infiltration, migration, and neovascularization are known causes of treatment resistance in glioblastoma multiforme(GBm). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of radiation on the growth characteristics of primary human GBm developed in a nude rat. Primary GBm cells grown from explanted GBm tissues were implanted orthotopically in nude rats. Tumor growth was confirmed by magnetic resonance imaging on day 77(baseline) after implantation. The rats underwent irradiation to a dose of 50 Gy delivered subcuratively on day 84 postimplantation(n = 8), or underwent no radiation(n = 8). Brain tissues were obtained on day 112(nonirradiated) or day 133(irradiated). Immunohistochemistry was performed to determine tumor cell proliferation(Ki-67) and to assess the expression of infiltration marker(matrix metalloproteinase-2, mmP-2) and cell migration marker(CD44). Tumor neovascularization was assessed by microvessel density using von-Willebrand factor(vWF) staining. magnetic resonance imaging showed well-developed, infiltrative tumors in 11 weeks postimplantation. The proportion of Ki-67-positive cells in tumors undergoing radiation was(71 ± 15)% compared with(25 ± 12)% in the nonirradiated group(P = 0.02). The number of mmP-2-positive areas and proportion of CD44-positive cells were also high in tumors receiving radiation, indicating great invasion and infiltration. microvessel density analysis did not show a significant difference between nonirradiated and irradiated tumors. Taken together, we found that subcurative radiation significantly increased proliferation, invasion, and migration of primary GBm. Our study provides insights into possible mechanisms of treatment resistance following radiation therapy for GBm.

HI spectra of the supernova remnant G18.9-1.1 and the supernova remnant candidate G28.6+0.0 are analyzed. We compared the spectra to 13CO emission spectra and to spectra of HII regions in the area to determine kinematic distances. G18.9-1.1 is at 2.1 ± 0.4 kpc and G28.6+0.0 is at 9.0 ± 0.3 kpc from the Sun. Using the published X-ray spectra of G18.9-1.1, we apply supernova remnant models for shocked-ISm temperature and emission measure. We find that G18.9-1.1 has low, but not atypical, explosion energy of ≈3 × 1050 erg and is in a low-density region of the ISm, ~0.1 cm-3. It has age ~3700 yr if the ejecta mass is 1.4 m?, typical of Type Ia SNe, or ~4700 yr if the ejecta mass is 5 m? typical of core-collapse SN. The candidate G28.6+0.0 does not have reported X-ray emission, so we apply a basic Sedov model. The Sedov age is ~600 yr if the ISm density is 1 cm-3 but could be as old as ~6000 yr if the ISm density is as high as 100 cm-3.

Egypt has one of the highest prevalence rates of hepatitis C virus(HCV) in the world,mostly with genotype 4 that is highly associated with severe fibrosis. As a consequence,hepatocellular carcinoma has become the leading cause of cancer in this country. mauritania is a highly endemic area for hepatitis B virus(HBV). HBV and HCV could both be iatrogenically transmitted through infected blood products,infected needles,and medical equipment improperly sterilized. Adequate and efficient healthcare and public health measures with good surveillance programs,access for screening,prevention strategies,and successful treatment are needed to halt the spread of these diseases. Herein,we have reviewed the epidemiology,modes of transmission,predisposing factors,and novel treatment modalities of these viruses. We have proposed practices and interventions to decrease the risk of transmission of HCV and HBV in the affected countries,including strict adherence to standard precautions in the healthcare setting,rigorous education and training of patients and healthcare providers,universal screening of blood donors,use of safetyengineered devices,proper sterilization of medical equipment,hepatitis B vaccination,as well as effective direct-acting antiviral agents for the treatment of HCV.
