BACKGROUND There is an increased risk of atherosclerosis in patients with chronic hepatitis C or human immunodeficiency virus,but there is scarce data on hepatitis B virus *** hypothesis of this study is that hepatitis B virus infection increases the risk of carotid plaques and subclinical atherosclerosis in naïve hepatitis B e antigen(HBeAg)negative *** To assess the rate of carotid plaques and subclinical atherosclerosis in naïve HBeAg negative subjects in comparison with a cohort of healthy *** prospective case-control collaborative study conducted in two tertiary *** hundred and two subjects prospectively recruited at the outpatient clinic were included from May 2016 to April 2017:201 naïve HBeAg-negative hepatitis B virus-infected[49 chronic hepatitis B(CHB)and 152 inactive carriers(ICs)]and 201 healthy *** and metabolic measures,liver stiffness and carotid Doppler ultrasound were *** atherosclerosis was established on an intima-media thickness increase of≥1.2 mm and/or the presence of carotid *** distributed quantitative variables were compared with the Student t test and those with a non-normal distribution with the Mann-Whitney U *** variables were compared between groups using theχ2 or Fisher exact *** Carotid plaques were found more often in CHB(32.7%)than ICs(17.1%)or controls(18.4%)(p=0.048).Subclinical atherosclerosis was also increased in CHB(40.8%)vsICs(19.1%)or controls(19.4%)(p=0.003).No differences in the risk of atherosclerosis were observed between controls and *** factors independently associated with the presence of carotid plaques were age[odds ratio(OR)1.43,pp=0.004)and for subclinical atherosclerosis,age(OR 1.45,ppp=0.028).In the subset of young subjects(plaques(12.5%vs 1.1%,p=0.027)and subclinical atherosclerosis(12.5%vs 2.2%,p=0.058

Genomic selection,the application of genomic prediction(Gp)models to select candidate individuals,has significantly advanced in the past two decades,effectively accelerating genetic gains in plant *** article provides a holistic overview of key factors that have influenced Gp in plant breeding during this *** delved into the pivotal roles of training population size and genetic diversity,and their relationship with the breeding population,in determining Gp *** emphasis was placed on optimizing training population *** explored its benefits and the associated diminishing returns beyond an optimum *** was done while considering the balance between resource allocation and maximizing prediction accuracy through current optimization *** density and distribution of single-nucleotide polymorphisms,level of linkage disequilibrium,genetic complexity,trait heritability,statistical machine-learning methods,and non-additive effects are the other vital *** wheat,maize,and potato as examples,we summarize the effect of these factors on the accuracy of Gp for various *** search for high accuracy in Gp—theoretically reaching one when using the pearson’s correlation as a metric—is an active research area as yet far from optimal for various *** hypothesize that with ultra-high sizes of genotypic and phenotypic datasets,effective training population optimization methods and support from other omics approaches(transcriptomics,metabolomics and proteomics)coupled with deep-learning algorithms could overcome the boundaries of current limitations to achieve the highest possible prediction accuracy,making genomic selection an effective tool in plant breeding.

The relationship between climate and labor flexibility has been distinguished as an antecedent of *** this sense,the objective of this work was to explore the factorial structure of the organizational binomial.A cross-sectional,psychometric,and correlational study was carried out with a sample of 100 employees from organizations in central *** were selected based on their affiliation with the local chamber of *** results show the prevalence of six factors related to the leadership climate,compensation,structure,logistics,contingencies,and *** total explained variance reached 71%,although the correlation analysis and the factorial structure indicate the inclusion of another factor that the literature identifies as entrepreneurial and innovative flexibility.

High-saturated fat(HF)or high-fructose(HFr)consumption in children predispose them to metabolic syndrome(MetS).In rodent models of MetS,diets containing individually HF or HFr lead to a variable degree of ***,simultaneous intake of HF plus HFr have synergistic effects,worsening MetS *** children,the effects of HF or HFr intake usually have been addressed ***,we have reviewed the outcomes of HF or HFr diets in children,and we compare them with the effects reported in *** humans,HFr intake causes increased lipogenesis,hypertriglyceridemia,obesity and insulin *** the other hand,HF diets promote low grade-inflammation,obesity,insulin *** the deleterious effects of simultaneous HF plus HFr intake on MetS development in rodents,there is little information about the combined effects of HF plus HFr intake in *** aim of this review is to warn about this issue,as individually addressing the effects produced by HF or HFr may underestimate the severity of the outcomes of Western diet intake in the pediatric *** consider that this is an alarming issue that needs to be assessed,as the simultaneous intake of HF plus HFr is common on fast food menus.

The IndyCar series distinguishes itself by providing the same design and operation of the single-seater to its *** difference in times is then attributable to the skills of the drivers,but considering the data from the races could test this *** objective of this work was to establish a trajectory model to predict race times.A cross-sectional,correlational,and explanatory work was carried out with a sample of 18,474 records in the period from 2020 to 2023 of the IndyCar *** results show that the time span predicts the time *** relation to the studies of acceptance of the technology,the adjustment of this to human capacities to explain the time differences in the series of racing cars is discussed.

Erlotinib inhibits progression to dysplasia in a colitis-associated colon cancer model

AIM:To investigate the role of epidermal growth factor receptor(EGFR) in colitis-associated dysplasia using the EGFR tyrosine kinase inhibitor ***:Sprague-Dawley rats received trinitrobenzene sulfonic acid(TNBS;30 mg in 50% ethanol,ic),followed 6 wk later by reactivation with TNBS(5 mg/kg,iv) for 3 *** induce colitis-associated dysplasia,rats then received TNBS(iv) twice a week for 10 *** group received erlotinib(10 mg/kg,ip) for 1 wk before the start of the reactivation of the colitis and 2 wk after(21 d);the rest received the *** rats were euthanized,the colons were removed and analyzed for damage and expression of the EGFR downstream effectors Erk1/2 and ***:Ninety percent of the vehicle-treated animals had dysplasia in any region of the ***-treated animals had a significant decrease in the incidence of dysplasia compared to vehicle-treated animals in all regions of the colon(50.00% ± 11.47% vs 90.00% ± 10.00% in proximal,p p p proliferation,reduced active Erk1/2,and reduced c-Myc in colon epithelium compared with the vehicle-treated *** vitro,erlotinib treatment was shown to markedly decrease c-Myc and pErk1/2 levels in rat epithelial *** of rat epithelial cells was stimulated by epidermal growth factor and inhibited by erlotinib(p pment of colitis-associated dysplasia,suggesting a potential therapeutic use for erlotinib in patients with long-standing colitis.

Background:New fuid biomarkers for Alzheimer’s disease(AD)that reveal synaptic and neural network dysfunc‑tions are needed for clinical practice and therapeutic trial *** core vesicle(DCV)cargos are promising cerebrospinal fuid(CSF)indicators of synaptic failure in AD ***,their value as biomarkers has not yet been ***:Immunoassays were performed to analyze the secretory proteins prohormone convertases pC1/3 and pC2,carboxypeptidase E(CpE),secretogranins SgIII and SgII,and Cystatin C in the cerebral cortex(n=45,provided by Bellvitge University Hospital)and CSF samples(n=66,provided by The Sant pau Initiative on Neurodegeneration cohort)from AD patients(n=56)and age-matched controls(n=55).Results:In AD tissues,most DCV proteins were aberrantly accumulated in dystrophic neurites and activated astro‑cytes,whereas pC1/3,pC2 and CpE were also specifcally accumulated in hippocampal granulovacuolar degeneration *** individuals displayed an overall decline of secretory proteins in the ***,in AD patients,the CSF levels of prohormone convertases strongly correlated inversely with those of neurodegeneration markers and directly with cognitive impairment ***:These results demonstrate marked alterations of neuronal-specifc prohormone convertases in CSF and cortical tissues of AD *** neuronal DCV cargos are biomarker candidates for synaptic dysfunction and neurodegeneration in AD.

Canola and oat forage potential may be affected by climatic conditions when sown *** objective of this study was to evaluate the forage canola and oat potential in four early sowing dates(September 11 and 25;October 9 and 23)during the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 cycles in Matamoros,Coahuila,*** cycle duration,chemical composition,dry matter(DM),crude protein(Cp),and net energy for lactation(NEL)yields were *** temperatures and long photoperiods affected crops seeded on September 11,accelerating growth and reducing canola(26.6%-31.7%)and oat(15.8%)DM *** of September 25,canola cv IMC 205 reached DM yields(7746 kg ha^(-1)-9276 kg ha^(-1))similar to those obtained by oat(8115 kg ha^(-1)-9507 kg ha^(-1)),while canola cv Hyola 401 obtained such yields only until October *** chemical composition was better than that found in oat,with higher Cp,but lower acid detergent fiber(ADF)and neutral detergent fiber(NDF)*** equaled oat Cp yields(972 kg ha^(-1)-1215 kg ha^(-1))in the first sowing date,while in the other three other canola sowings reached higher yields(1193 kg ha^(-1)-1889 kg ha^(-1)).As for NEL yields,no difference was observed between both *** best sowing date for canola is from September 25 on,with Cp production advantages over oat.

pancreatic adenosquamous carcinoma and intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm in a CDKN2A germline mutation carrier

A 69-year-old woman from a kindred with familial atypical multiple mole melanoma and carrier of a germline mutation in CDKN2A, presented with abdominal pain caused by a solid-cystic pancreatic mass. The patient had an abdominal computed tomography three years before in which there was no evidence of pancreatic lesion. The endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration showed adenocarcinoma with squamous component. After surgical resection the final diagnosis was adenosquamous pancreatic carcinoma(ASpC) arising in an intraductal papillar mucinous neoplasm(IpMN). Adenosquamous carcinomas are uncommon in the pancreas and have rarely been described in association with IpMNs. It has worse prognosis than the ordinary pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma and some distinct features. We review the clinical, imaging, pathologic and molecular aspects of ASpC. Differential diagnosis with contamination, squamous metaplasia and pancreatic metastases from a distant squamous carcinoma is discussed. Besides, the case is an accelerated model of the adenoma(IpMN)-carcinoma sequence probably due to the CDKN2A ger-mline mutation. Somatic CDKN2A mutations are commonevents in the early steps of sporadic pancreatic cancer, but germline mutation carriers have a significantly higher risk of pancreatic carcinoma.
