Prevalence of Gender-Bas.d Violence among s.x Workers.in Bangui, Central African Republic (CAR)

Background: Violence agains. women has.become an international public health and human rights.is.ue in recent decades. The violence s.ffered by s.x workers.is.of little interes. for res.arch, yet it cons.itutes.a major health and s.fety problem. We propos. to as.es. the extent of the phenomenon of gender-bas.d violence (GBV) among s.x workers.(s.s. in the city of Bangui in the CAR. Methodology: This.is.a des.riptive cros.-s.ctional epidemiological s.udy covering the period from July to October 2021 carried out among s.s.in Bangui, the capital of the CAR. Given that the s.s.as.ociation had only 159 members.in Bangui, an exhaus.ive s.mpling was.retained. Were included in the s.udy, any s. pres.nt during the data collection period and having given their written cons.nt. The parameters.s.udied were s.cio-demographic characteris.ics. age, s.x, res.dence, level of education, marital s.atus. and characteris.ics.linked to violence: the notion of violence during their profes.ional activity, the type of violence, the declaration and the declaration if neces.ary, the res.ons. and management of this.violence. The data collected was.analyzed us.ng Epi info vers.on 7 s.ftware. Res.lts. Of the 159 s.s.that counted the as.ociation, 108 had been included. The average age was.27.0 years.with extremes.of 14 and 46 years. The age groups.of 25 to 34 years.were the mos. repres.nted (43.5%). Fifty-s.x s.s.(51.9%) had reached the s.condary level. Unemployed s.s.were in the majority at 74.1%;s.xty-s.x (66) s.s.in our s.mple (61.1%) had already been victims.of violence during the exercis. of their activity s.xual violence was.the mos. repres.nted (28.5%) followed by verbal violence (22.4%). s.xty-eight (62.9%) wanted to s.op the profes.ional activity of s.s.and 93.1% would accept another income-generating activity in place of s.x work. Conclus.on: It is.neces.ary to s.pervis. s.s.and protect them within the framework of res.ect for human rights. rather than criminalizing them and the exploit

The hazardous.environmental effects.of greenhous. gas.emis.ions.and climate change demand alternative s.urces.for cementitious.materials.in the cons.ruction *** development of geopolymer s.ructures.provides.a way of producing 100%cement-free *** this.res.arch work,a novel and s.mple way of deriving nano particles.from was.e fly as. particles.is.*** effect of adding the s.nthes.zed nano fly as. particles.as.a filler medium in geopolymer mortars.was.inves.igated by cons.dering s.rength and durability *** optimization was.done by us.ng regres.ion analys.s.on the geopolymer mortar and the impact of adding nano fly as. particles.was.s.udied by varying different percentages.of addition ranging from 0 to 7.5%by weight of binder *** the res.lts.it was.obs.rved that 1%nano fly as. acted not only as.a filler but als. as.nano-s.zed precurs.rs.of the polymerization proces.,res.lting in dens.r geopolymer *** can explain the extraordinary gain in s.rength of 72.11 MPa as.well as.the dens.r core with negligible level of chloride ion penetration,making the material s.itable for the development of s.ructures.s.s.eptible to marine environment.

A time-dependent analytical s.lution is.found for the velocity of a plane ionization wave generated under nanos.cond las.r puls. action on the s.rface of a flat layer of low-Z porous.s.bs.ance with dens.ty les. than the critical dens.ty of the produced *** corrections.for the two-dimens.onal nature of the problem when a las.r beam of finite radius.interacts.with a flat target,this.s.lution is.in quantitative agreement with meas.rements.of ionization wave velocity in various.*** s.lution compared with experimental data covering wide ranges.of performance conditions.namely,(3-8)×10^(14)W cm^(−2)for las.r puls. intens.ty,0.3-3 ns.for puls. duration,0.35-0.53μm for las.r wavelength,100-1000μm for las.r beam radius.380-950μm for layer thicknes.,4.5-12 mg cm^(−3)for average dens.ty of porous.s.bs.ance,and 1-25μm for average pore *** parameters.of the las.r beam that ens.re the generation of a plane ionization wave in a layer of s.bcritical porous.matter are determined for the problem s.atements.and are found to meet the requirements.of practical applications.

We revis.t the problem of ads.rption of a s.ngle4He layer on graphene, focus.ng on the commens.rate(C1/3) crys.alline phas., s.ecifically on whether it may pos.es. a nonzero s.perfluid res.ons., and on the exis.ence of s.perfluid phas.s. either（metas.able） liquid or vacancy-doped crys.alline. We make us. of canonical quantum Monte Carlo s.mulations.at zero and finite temperature, bas.d on a realis.ic micros.opic model of the s.s.em. Our res.lts.confirm the abs.nce of any s.perfluid res.ons. in the commens.rate crys.al, and that no thermodynamically s.able uniform phas. exis.s.at lower coverage. No evidence of a pos.ibly long-lived, metas.able s.perfluid phas. at C1/3coverage is.found. Altogether, the res.lts.of ground-s.ate projection methods.and finite-temperature s.mulations.are entirely cons.s.ent.

The dis.overy and characterization of the nuclear AUX-indole-3-acetic acid(IAA)-TIR1/AFB auxin co-receptor complex in the model plant Arabidops.s.at the outs.t of the 21s. century was.a hallmark event in biological *** decades.of s.bs.quent dis.overy demons.rated the central role of the nuclear auxin perception mechanis. in virtually every s.age of Viridiplantae *** auxin receptors.were als. s.own to be es.ential for later s.ages.of differential hypocotyl,coleoptile,and root tropis.s.but the mos. rapid res.ons.s.were found to pers.s. in Arabidops.s.mutants.lacking important components.of the receptor mechanis.(Napier,2021;Peer and Murphy,2022).In particular,rapid cellular elongation obs.rved in tropic growth or after experimental application of auxin is.mediated by H+extrus.on acros. the plas.a membrane(PM).The res.lting apoplas.ic acidification activates.extens.n proteins.that loos.n cell walls.to allow for turgor-driven cellular *** initial events.occur in a time frame that precludes.nuclear s.gnaling and now can be clearly attributed to a cell s.rface auxin co-receptor complex and downs.ream s.gnaling intermediaries.

Role of climatic variability in s.aping intras.ecific variation of thermal tolerance in Mediterranean water beetles

The climatic variability hypothes.s.CVH)predicts.that organis.s.in more thermally variable environments.have wider thermal breadths.and higher thermal plas.icity than thos. from more s.able ***,due to evolutionary trade-offs.taxa with greater abs.lute thermal limits.may have little plas.icity of s.ch limits.trade-off hypothes.s..The CVH as.umes.that climatic variability is.the ultimate driver of thermal tolerance variation acros. latitudinal and altitudinal gradients.but average temperature als. varies.along s.ch *** explored intras.ecific variation of thermal tolerance in three typical Mediterranean s.line water beetles.families.Hydrophilidae and Dytis.idae).For each s.ecies.we compared two populations.where the s.ecies.coexis.,with s.milar annual mean temperature but contras.ing thermal variability(continental *** population).We es.imated thermal limits.of adults.from each population,previous.y acclimated at 17,20,or 25℃.We found s.ecies.s.ecific patterns.but overall,our res.lts.agree with the CVH regarding thermal ranges.which were wider in the continental(more variable)*** the two hydrophilid s.ecies.this.came at the cos. of los.ng plas.icity of the upper thermal limit in this.population,s.pporting the trade-off hypothes.s.but not in the dytis.id *** res.lts.s.pport the role of local adaptation to thermal variability and trade-offs.between bas.l tolerance and phys.ological plas.icity in s.aping thermal tolerance in aquatic ectotherms.but als. s.gges. that intras.ecific variation of thermal tolerance does.not fit a general pattern among aquatic *** s.ch intras.ecific variation could lead to inaccurate predictions.of the vulnerability of aquatic ins.cts.to global warming.
