Influence of fatty acids in edible oils on lutein micellization and permeation in a simulated digestion model

Lutein is a nutraceutical compound that promotes human eye health and prevents neurodegenerative *** oral bioavailability of lutein is affected by both extrinsic and intrinsic factors in the *** hydrophobicity of the compound is further challenging,its lipophilicity can be utilized to micellize and thereby improve its oral ***,available data on the effects of dietary fats on lutein micellization and permeation is limited and needs further *** this study,the influence of 17 carrier type edible oils on lutein micellization and permeation,was investigated in a simulated digestion *** overall effectiveness of these oils to permeate micellized lutein was attributed to its Fatty Acid(FA)*** 94%of the edible oils exhibited a positive influence on the permeation of micellized lutein,the micellization and permeation efficiency of these oils were significantly(p≤0.05)modulated by the saturation of FA in the order Saturated(SFA)>Mono-Unsaturated(MUFA)>Poly-Unsaturated(PUFA).The highest apparent permeability coefficient was exhibited by lutein micellized in ghee(3.01×10^(-6) cm/s)and butter(2.93×10^(-6) cm/s),which was 1.28 and 1.24 folds higher than lutein alone(2.35×10^(-6) cm/s)*** MUFA rich olive oil and PUFA rich flaxseed oil improved lutein permeation by 1.19(2.80×10^(-6) cm/s)and 1.14 folds(2.69×10^(-6) cm/s)*** study is the first to report the influence of saturated fatty acids on micellization and permeation of ***,the outcomes of this study offer the field of lutein delivery systems a fresh perspective.

Among different endangered animal species,snakes are the most neglected creature looked at with apathy and therefore,are ruthlessly killed,illegally trafficked,and poached for their venom,lucrative skin,meat,and bones for manufacturing of medicines,accessories,and food *** the identity of the endangered snake species is important for punishing the offenders under Wildlife Protection Act(WPA)(1972)but morphological characters fail to establish identity as they are often *** technique of identification of snake species at molecular level holds very effective conclusion in punishing ***,we have constructed and demonstrated a novel multiplexing polymerase chain reaction technique,using 16S rRNA and C-mos gene for identification of four Indian snake species,namely Ptyas mucosa,Daboia russellii,Naja naja,and Xenochrophis *** are listed in Appendix-II and III of convention on international trade in endangered species of wild fauna and flora and Schedule II;Part II of Indian WPA,***,it may be considered a functional tool for establishing species-specific identity of four Indian snake species and promising to be useful for their conservation.

Crocodiles,gharials and alligators(order Crocodilia),are aquatic reptiles that live in the tropics of Asia,America,Africa,and *** countries such as India,Indonesia,Malaysia,and tropics of Australia are the stronghold of the family *** all 23 crocodile species,nine species occur in Asia and its surroundings,including the only member of Gavialidae and Alligatoridae *** are“mugger”or“Crocodylus palustris,”“saltwater crocodile”or“Crocodylus porosus,”“Philippine crocodile”or“Crocodylus mindorensis,”“New Guinea crocodile”or“Crocodylus novaeguineae,”“Siamese crocodile”or“Crocodylus siamensis,”“gharials”or“Gavialis gangeticus,”“false gharial”or“Tomistoma schlegelii,”and“Chinese alligator”or“Alligator sinensis.”All of these species have been encompassed in“Appendix I”and“Appendix II”of the“Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora,”which prevents any kind of trade involving crocodilian ***,it has been observed that these crocodiles are illegally poached and trafficked for their lucrative skin,meats,eggs,snouts,and bones in medicinal and cosmetic *** many molecular biologists have come forward for the conservation of these species,lack of knowledge about the available,fast,and dependable techniques makes it difficult for forensic identification of seized or *** has been a major problem for the implementation of the“Wildlife Protection Law”on illegal *** article focuses on molecular techniques developed till date for the rapid and reliable species identification and conservation study of them.

Background:Chronic pancreatitis(CP)is characterized by chronic abdominal pain and functional ***,a small subset of patients with prior acute pancreatitis(AP)and/or underlying risk factors for developing CP may be pain-free at diagnosis and may have a different clinical *** aimed to compare the clinical characteristics,outcomes,and healthcare utilization between CP patients with and without ***:Reviewed patients with established CP were followed in our Pancreas Center between January 2016 and April *** without risk factors for developing CP and/or without AP prior to their diagnosis and only with incidental radiologic features of CP were excluded,so as tominimize confounding factors of pancreatopathy unrelated to *** were divided into painful and pain-free groups to analyze differences in demographics,outcomes,and healthcare ***:Of 368 CP patients,49(13.3%)were pain-free at diagnosis and had remained so for>9 *** were no significant differences in body mass index,race,sex,or co-morbidities between the two ***-free patients were older at diagnosis(53.9 vs 45.7,P=0.004)and had less recurrent AP(RAP)(43.8%vs 72.5%,P<0.001)and less exocrine pancreatic insufficiency(EPI)(34.7%vs 65.7%,P<0.001).Pain-free patients had less disability(2.2%vs 22.0%,P=0.003),mental illness(20.4%vs 61.0%,P<0.001),surgery(0.0%vs 15.0%,P=0.059),and therapeutic interventions(0.0%vs 16.4%,P=0.005)for ***:We described a unique subset of patients with underlying risk factors for CP and/or prior AP who were painfree at *** were older at diagnosis,had less EPI and RAP,and overall favorable outcomes with minimal resource utilization.

BACKGROUND Acute gallstone pancreatitis(AGP) is the most common cause of acute pancreatitis(AP) in the United States. Patients with AGP may also present with choledocholithiasis. In 2010, the American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy(ASGE) suggested a management algorithm based on probability for choledocholithiasis, recommending additional imaging for patients at intermediate risk and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography(ERCP) for patients at high risk of choledocholithiasis. In 2019, the ASGE guidelines were updated using more specific criteria to categorize individuals at high risk for choledocholithiasis. Neither ASGE guideline has been studied in AGP to determine the probability of having *** To determine compliance with ASGE guidelines, assess outcomes, and compare 2019 vs 2010 ASGE criteria for suspected choledocholithiasis in *** We conducted a retrospective cohort study of 882 patients admitted with AP to a single tertiary care center from 2008-2018. AP was diagnosed using revised Atlanta criteria and AGP was defined as the presence of gallstones on imaging or with cholestatic pattern of liver injury in the absence of another cause. Patients with chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic malignancy were excluded as were those who went directly to cholecystectomy prior to assessment for choledocholithiasis. Patients were assigned low, intermediate or high risk based on ASGE guidelines. Our primary outcomes of interest were the proportion of patients in the intermediate risk group undergoing magnetic resonance cholangiopancreatography(MRCP) first and the proportion of patients in the high risk group undergoing ERCP directly without preceding imaging. Secondary outcomes of interest included outcome differences based on if guidelines were not adhered to. 10-year female child was presented with complex congenital heart defect—atrial situs inversus, levocardia, discordant atrioventricular connections, double outlet right ventricle, ventricular septal defect, pulmonic stenosis and straddling of atrio-ventricular valves along with bilateral superior vena cava and large patent ductus arteriosus. We describe here the strategy adopted to perform single stage fenestrated extra cardiac conduit total cavo-pulmonary connections in this patient especially concerning cardiac malposition of atrial situs inversus and levocardia.
