A Study of Correlation of Serum.Chrom.um.Level with Glycosylated Haem.globin (HbA1c), Total Cholesterol and Triglycerides, am.ng Type 2 Diabetes Patients

Background: Diabetes m.llitus is a com.on disease and it is a m.jor cause of m.rbidity;several studies indicate that diabetes is a likely under reported cause of death. Chrom.um.s is im.ortant trace elem.nt to control diabetes m.llitus and m.tabolism.of carbohydrate, lipid and protein. Objective: The purpose of this study was to understand the relationship between serum.chrom.um. with HbA1c, Total cholesterol and Triglycerides am.ng type 2 diabetes patients am.ng diabetic patients. m.thodology: This is cross-sectional study done in Jabber Abu Ezz Centre for treatm.nt and care of diabetics in Khartoum.Sudan. Four hundred subjects were enrolled in this study;one hundred subjects were norm.l healthy as control group, and three hundred subjects diabetic patient type 2 as test group;dem.graphic and biochem.cal data were collected;serum.chrom.um. Glycosylated Haem.globin (HbA1c), Total cholesterol Triglycerides, were determ.ned by using NYCOCARD READER II, spectrophotom.ter (Biosystem.310) and spectrophotom.ter 210-VGP. Result: In this study there is significant param.ters level m.ans of FBS HbA1c, Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides and Chrom.um.of the test groups when com.ared with healthy control groups subjects (P = 0.001, 0.018, 0.01, 0.011, 0.004), respectively. Significant negative correlation is between FBS, HbA1c, Total Cholesterol, Triglycerides and Chrom.um.(r = ?0.555, P value = 0.003), (r = ?0.668, P value = 0.002), (r = ?0.335, P value = 0.004) and (r = ?0.774, P value = 0.002) respectively. Conclusion: There was significant correlation between serum.Chrom.um.level with fasting blood sugaer, Glycosylated Haem.globin (HbA1c), Total cholesterol and Triglycerides am.ng type 2 diabetes patients.

Initial im.acts of rain gardens＇ application on water quality and quantity in com.ined sewer： field-scale experim.nt

Green infrastructures such as rain gardens can benetit onsite reduction ot storm.ater runott, leading to reduced com.ined sewer overflows. A pilot project was conducted to evaluate the im.act of rain gardens on the water quality and volum. reduction of storm.runoff from.urban streets in a com.ined sewer area. The study took place in a six-block area on South Grand Boulevard in St. Louis, m.ssouri. The im.act was assessed through a com.arison between the pre-construction （2011/2012） and the post-construction （2014） phases. Shortly after the rain gardens were installed, the levels of total suspended solids, chloride, total nitrogen, total phosphorous, zinc, and copper increased. The level of m.rcury was lower than the detection level in both phases. E. coli was the only param.ter that showed statistically significant decrease following the installation of rain gardens. The likely reason for initial increase in m.nitored water quality param.ters is that the post-construction sam.ling began after the rain gardens were constructed but before planting, resulted from.soil erosion and wash-out from.the m.lch. However, the levels of m.st of water quality param.ters decreased in the following tim. period during the post-construction phase. The study found 76% volum. reduction of storm.ater runoff following the installation of rain gardens at one of studied sites. Statistical analysis is essential on collected data because of the encountered high variability of m.asured flows resulted from.low flow conditions in studied sewers.

The present work aim. to investigate the recovery of light rare earth elem.nts(LREEs) oxides from.end-oflife Nim. batteries using a hydro m.tallurgical process followed by effective *** operational leaching param.ters such as phosphoric acid concentration,tem.erature,and the solid-liquid ratio were first optim.zed by Box-Behnken *** results reveal that under optim.m.conditions([H_(3)PO_(4)]=2 m.l/L,T=80℃,and S/L=1:10 g/m.) the leaching efficiencies of Ni,Co reach 98.1% and99.3%.While La,Ce,and Nd elem.nts rem.in in the leaching residue as(La,Ce,Nd)PO_(4) with yields of 98.2%,98.6%,and 99.6% for La,Ce,and Nd,***,the(La,Ce,Nd)PO_(4) is leached with HCl acid,then the rare earth oxalate was precipitated using oxalic acid at a pH of 1.8 and then the product was calcined at 800℃ for 2 h in order to synthesize the(Nd,La,Ce)_(2)O_(3).The analysis using scanning electron m.croscopy(SEm. coupled with energy dispersive X-ray spectroscopy(EDX) confirm. the hom.geneity of(Nd,La,Ce)_(2)O_(3) particles that have two m.rphologies,i.e.,flower and sticks with a particle size between 3and 6 μ*** unit cell param.ters of(Nd,La,Ce)_(2)O_(3) were calculated after Rietveld refinem.nt of the XRD patterns,in the space group of Fm.3m.are a=b=c=0.57921 nm.and the volum. equal to 0.194322 nm.(3).

Structural and Characteristics of m.nganese Doped Zinc Sulfide Nanoparticles and Its Antibacterial Effect against Gram.Positive and Gram.Negative Bacteria

The m.nganese doped zinc sulfide nanoparticles of the cubic zinc blende structure with the average crystallite size of about 3.56 nm.were synthesized using a coprecipitation m.thod using Thioglycolic Acid as an external capping agent for surface m.dification. The ZnS:m.2+ nanoparticles of diam.ter 3.56 nm.were m.nufactured through using inexpensive precursors in an efficient and eco-friendly way. X-Ray Diffraction (XRD), Scanning Electron m.croscopy (SEm. and Fourier Transform.Infrared (FTIR) spectroscopy are used to exam.ne the structure, m.rphology and chem.cal com.osition of the nanoparticles. The antim.crobial activity of (ZnS:m.2+) nanocrystals was investigated by m.asuring the diam.ter of inhibition zone using well diffusion m.chanism.versus two various bacterial strains. The technique of m.croorganism.inactivation was considered as sorts-dependent. Bacillus subtilis showed the largest antibacterial sensitivity (35 m.) to ZnS: m.2+ nanoparticles at a concentration (50 m.) whereas Escherichia coli offered m.xim.m.zone of inhibition (20 m.) at the sam. concentration. In this study, the results indicated that ZnS:m.2+ nanoparticles were found to have significant antibacterial activity against Gram.negative (E. coli) and Gram.positive (Bacillus subtilis) bacteria.

m.xim.zing Irrigation Water Productivity by Optim.zing Leaching Fraction

The im.ortance of m.xim.zing irrigation water productivity is increasing as the water resources still decreasing and deteriorating due to environm.ntal interactions. An optim.l irrigation water depth （including leaching water depth） was estim.ted in order to m.xim.ze water unit volum. productivity by using the optim.l leaching fraction （LF）, which is calculated by the new proposed m.del--unit yield ratio （UYR%） and irrigation depth ratio （IDP）. A com.uter program.was constructed to apply this m.del for several crops irrigated by two water resources--river and well. The water salinity of river was 1.1 dS/m.and the well salinity was 3.85 dS/m. The results showed that there is an optim.l leaching requirem.nt （LR） value for each crop irrigated by any water resource. The m.xim.m.UYR% of the alfalfa irrigated by saline well water was 58.45% with the optim.l LF = 0.4, while the m.xim.m.UYR% of the bean irrigated by river water was 78.58% with the optim.l LR = 0.2. The optim.l LF is saving water by increasing the productivity of irrigation water unit volum., especially when using saline irrigation water, for exam.le, an increase of IDP for alfalfa by only 20%, followed by an increase of UYR% about 47.5% （from.12% to 57%） by increasing LF from.0.1 to 0.3.

Trans-acting sm.ll interfering RNAs （ta-siRNAs） are plant-specific siRNAs released from.TAS precursor tran- scripts after m.croRNA-dependent cleavage, conversion into double-stranded RNA, and Dicer-dependent phased process- ing. Like m.croRNAs （m.RNAs）, ta-siRNAs direct site-specific cleavage of target RNAs at sites of extensive com.lem.ntarity. Here, we show that the DICER-LIKE 4 protein of Physcom.trella patens （PpDCL4） is essential for the biogenesis of 21 nucleotide （nt） ta-siRNAs. In APpDCL4 m.tants, off-sized 23 and 24-nt ta-siRNAs accum.lated as the result of PpDCL3 activity. APpDCL4 m.tants display severe abnorm.lities throughout Physcom.trella developm.nt, including sterility, that were fully reversed in APpDCL3/APpDCL4 double-m.tant plants. Therefore, PpDCL3 activity, not loss of PpDCL4 function per se, is the cause of the APpDCL4 phenotypes. Additionally, we describe several new Physcom.trella trans-acting siRNA loci, three of which belong to a new fam.ly, TA56. TAS6 loci are typified by sliced m.R156 and m.R529 target sites and are in close proxim.ty to PpTAS3 loci.

Research Background: The high prevalence of diabetes in Sudan, estim.ted at 16%, highlights the im.ortance of effective health education in diabetes m.nagem.nt. Diabetes self-m.nagem.nt education has been identified as a crucial tool in enhancing the knowledge, attitudes, and abilities necessary for self-m.nagem.nt am.ng individuals with diabetes. Aim. To assess the im.act of diabetes self-m.nagem.nt education on m.dication adherence and glycem.c control in Sudanese adults with type 2 diabetes before and 3 m.nths after the DSm. intervention. m.thod: The study was conducted in Sudan between Septem.er 2022 and m.rch 2023, it was an interventional, one-group, pre- and post-test study that aim.d to assess the im.act of diabetes self-m.nagem.nt education (DSm.) on m.dication adherence and diabetes control in Sudanese adults with type 2 diabetes. The research was conducted in prim.ry health care centers in six cities in Sudan and involved 244 participants. The data entry and statistical analysis were conducted using the Statistical Package for Social Sciences version 27.0. A paired t test was used for analysis. Results: The study included 244 participants, 67% of whom.were m.les. The age m.an ± SD was 48.6 ± 9.3 years, and 85.3% of participants were m.rried. Age at onset of diabetes m.an ± SD was 40.60 ± 7.81 years;44.6% had diabetes for less than 5 years;and 84.1% had a positive fam.ly history of diabetes m.llitus. The levels of poor, low, and partial adherence to m.dication decreased by 8.2%, 4%, and 20.6%, respectively, after the intervention. The levels of good and high m.dication regim. adherence increased by 13% and 19.8%, respectively;Bm. decreased by 1.1 ± 0.73 kg/m.sup>2 (p = 0.005). The fasting blood sugar decreased by 69 ± 32.9 m./dl (p = 0.049), and the glycated hem.globin decreased by 1.21 ± 0.28% (p = 0.001).
