A high percentage of the world's population lives in areas where air pollutant concentrations exceed the World Health Organization *** work aims to develop and test,a high-resolution multi-scale air pollution modelling system by integrating a set of adequate *** system is able to provide detailed air pollutant concentrations in urban areas and support air quality management strategies through a better identification of different atmospheric *** also allows furthering the design and assessment of air pollution control measures for a specific *** evaluate its performance and suitability,the system was applied to the Macao Special Administrative Region(SAR),china,one of the most densely populated areas on earth,during a winter period when this area is affected by high levels of Particulate Matter(PM).Although the developed system tends to underestimate the PM concentrations,it revealed a good performance in reproducing the temporal and spatial air pollution *** exceedances of the Chinese air quality standards were calculated and high population exposure to PM pollution was *** tested urban atmospheric emission reduction scenarios have shown air quality improvements,indicating that emission reduction measures at urban level should focus on the domestic ***,it is crucial to implement joint pollution prevention strategies with neighbouring regions to improve the air quality in Macao *** approach developed in this work can support policymakers in defining new strategies to reduce atmospheric pollution in urban areas.

Human activities have impacted 77%of the terrestrial ecosystems(excluding Antarctica),and the remaining areas are becoming increasingly *** spatiotemporal dynamics of Human Footprint has been used to evaluate the cumulative interference on terrestrial environments ***,fences and hydropower,two widespread and rapidly expanding infrastructures,have not been considered regarding Human Footprint,despite their complicated and extensive effects on ecosystem functioning and species *** work has proved that fences increase habitat fragmentation,disrupt migratory routes,inadvertently trap and kill wildlife,and hinder genetic *** construction also caused habitat loss,fragmentation,and *** impacts have received global concern,but fences around the world are difficult to be detected due to the limitations of current cartographic ***,the effect of hydropower on the terrestrial environment has been underestimated,making the research on this topic at a global scale still in its ***,building an observation network of global fences and hydropower is a necessary step to move forward in the assessment of the impact of human activities on our planet,but also to better provide scientific support for policy-making regarding global biodiversity conservation,the identification of protected areas,and the prioritization of ecological restoration areas.

Cadmium(Cd)and lead(Pb)in soil or water environment cause the ecological destruction and environmental deterioration when their contents exceed the natural background *** trace the concentrations of Cd(II)and Pb(II),a sensitive and selective electrode was developed using disposable screen-printed carbon electrode(SPE)immobilized with a composite film of reduced graphene oxide/carboxylation multi-walled carbon nanotubes/gold nanoparticle hybrid(RGO-MWNT-AuNP)throughπ-π*** highly conductive nano-composite layer,“RGO-MWNT-AuNP,”was characterized by scanning electron microscopy,UV-visible spectrometer,cyclic voltammetry,and electrochemical impedance *** wave stripping voltammetry was applied to RGO-MWNT-AuNP/SPE to electroplate bismuth film and monitor the Cd(II)and Pb(II)*** obtain high current responses,the detecting parameters were *** optimized conditions,the current responses showed a linear relationship with the concentrations of Cd(II)and Pb(II)in the range from 1.0 to 80.0μg/L with a lower detection limit of 0.7μg/L and 0.3μg/L(S/N=3),***,the prepared electrode was further employed to detect Cd(II)and Pb(II)in soil samples with good results.

Memory CD8 T cells can provide long-term protection against tumors,which depends on their enhanced proliferative capacity,self-renewal and unique metabolic rewiring to sustain cellular ***,memory CD8 T cells engage oxidative phosphorylation and fatty acid oxidation to fulfill their metabolic *** contrast,tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes(TILs)display severe metabolic defects,which may underlie their functional ***,we show that overexpression of proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1-alpha(PGC-1α),the master regulator of mitochondrial biogenesis(MB),favors CD8 T cell central memory formation rather than resident memory ***-1α-overexpressing CD8 T cells persist and mediate more robust recall responses to bacterial infection or peptide ***,CD8 T cells with enhanced PGC-1αexpression provide stronger antitumor immunity in a mouse melanoma ***,TILs overexpressing PGC-1αmaintain higher mitochondrial activity and improved expansion when rechallenged in a tumor-free ***,our findings indicate that enforcing mitochondrial biogenesis promotes CD8 T cell memory formation,metabolic fitness,and antitumor immunity in vivo.
