Large-scale destress blasting for seismicity control in hard rock mines:A case study

Destress blasting is a rockburst control technique where highly stressed rock is blasted to reduce the local stress and stiffness of the rock,thereby reducing its burst *** technique is commonly practiced in deep hard rock mines in burst prone developments,as well as in sill or crown pillars which become burst-prone as the orebody is ***-scale destressing is a variant of destress blasting where panels are created parallel to the orebody strike with a longhole,fanning blast pattern from cross cut drifts situated in the host *** aim of panel destressing is to reduce the stress concentration in the ore blocks or pillars to be *** paper focuses on the large-scale destress blasting program conducted at Vale's Copper Cliff Mine(CCM)in Ontario,*** merits of panel destressing are examined through field measurements of mining induced stress changes in the *** destressing mechanism is simulated with a rock fragmentation factor(a)and stress reduction/dissipation factor(b).A 3D model is built and validated with measured induced stress *** is shown that the best correlation between the numerical model and field measurements is obtained when the combination of a and b indicates that the blast causes high fragmentation(a=0.05)and high stress release(b=0.95)in the destress *** is demonstrated that the burst proneness of the ore blocks in the panel stress shadow is reduced in terms of the brittle shear ratio(BSR)and the burst potential index(BPI).

Gait speed is a valid measure of both physical function and vestibular *** rehabilitation is useful to improve gait speed for patients with vestibular hypofunction,yet there is little data to indicate how changes in gait speed reflect changes in patient-reported health *** determined the minimal clinically important difference in the gait speed of patients with unilateral vestibular hypofunction,mostly due to deafferentation surgery,as anchored to the Dizziness Handicap Index and the Activities Balance Confidence scale,validated using regression analysis,change difference,receiveroperator characteristic curve,and average change *** six weeks of vestibular rehabilitation,a change in gait speed from 0.20 to 0.34 m/s with 95%confidence was required for the patients to perceive a significant reduction in perception of dizziness and improved balance confidence.

本研究以工作环境为调节,探讨工作自主性和组织学习对员工组织承诺的影响。研究挑选了加纳Ashanti地区的5家酒店,包括Anita酒店,Okubi酒店,Franbec酒店,Feliama酒店,和Jostev酒店。研究的受访者来自这五家酒店的全职员工。通过一种简单的随机概率抽样方法,向受访者发放了750份问卷,回收有效问卷700份。数据分析过程中,采用SPSS 26.0统计受访者的人口信息,用Smart PLS 3.0的偏最小二乘结构方程模型(SEM)检验研究模型。分析表明,所得数据满足内部一致性信度、多重共线性、收敛性和判别效度。结论表明,工作自主性和组织学习对组织承诺有正向影响(p<0.01)这一结果意味着,在任何组织中,工作自主性和组织学习将有助于提高员工承诺水平,并促进组织绩效的改善。研究结果还发现,工作自主性对组织承诺的影响最为显著,其路径系数和显著性均较好。这意味着,在处理组织承诺问题时,工作自主性应得到极大的重视;然而,工作自主性和组织学习都应该协同作用,以产生预期的结果。此外,工作环境对工作自主性与组织承诺的关系具有显著的正向调节作用(p<0.01)。工作环境对组织学习与组织承诺的关系具有显著的正向调节作用。这一结果意味着企业需要重视员工的贡献,向员工传达公司的进步和成就,为他们提供工作和生活的平衡,为成功的生产提供必要的知识和工具,塑造一个稳定的氛围支持自主和学习,从而提高组织承诺。基于分析结果,本研究建议企业和管理者要为他们的下属提供较多的灵活性来决定完成任务的方法,因为这对员工的组织承诺有显著的影响。此外,企业需要培养组织学习哲学,这是员工对组织忠诚的一个基本指标。因此,必须重视组织学习,并通过培训课程、知识分布和群体行为,培养员工持续学习的理念。

The use of outcome feedback by emergency medicine physicians: Results of a physician survey

BACKGROUND: Feedback on patient outcomes is invaluable to the practice of emergency medicine but examples of effective forms of feedback have not been well characterized in the literature. We describe one system of emergency department(ED) outcome feedback called the return visit report(RVR) and present the results of a survey assessing physicians' perceptions of this novel form of feedback. METHODS: An Opinio web-based survey was conducted in 81 emergency physicians(EPs) at three ***: Of the 81 physicians surveyed, 40(49%) responded. Most participants indicated that they frequently review their RVRs(83%), that RVRs are valuable to their practice of medicine(80%), and that RVRs alter their practice in future encounters(57%). Respondents reported seeking other forms of outcome feedback including speaking with other EPs(83%) and reviewing discharge summaries of admitted patients(87%). There was no correlation between demographic data and use of ***: EPs value RVRs as a form of feedback. RVRs could be improved by reducing the observational interval and optimizing report relevance and differential weighting.

The main purpose of the electrical power system is to transport and distribute energy generated by the central power plants in a safe and reliable manner to the customer premises. Most of the electrical equipment is exposed within the open which suggests they can be vulnerable to lightning strikes, road dwindling, windstorms, and a few engineering activities with the potential of causing different degrees of damage to the electrical equipment. One of the ways to guard the equipment is to deploy switching devices. However, the operations of most of these switching devices produce oscillatory transient in the electrical transmission and distribution systems which result in voltage, current, and frequency fluctuations in the load. This paper investigates the effect of switching devices on power quality and proposes a positive sequence voltage power transient suppression technique that can spontaneously improve the distorted voltage at the instant of capacitor switching using the capacitor line model as a case study. MATLAB/Simulink software was utilized for the analysis on an electrical network model with bus voltages of 69 kV/12.47 kV and 480 V. The results showed that, during switching operations, the positive sequence voltage power detector block produces ripple-free accurate results.

If a domesticated translation from Chinese to English can be understood as an act of eurocentrism, then the difficulties in translating Wong Bik-wan＇s latest novel Weixi chong xing （The re-walking of Mei-hei, 2014） reveal how this Hong Kong female writer uses language to escape patriarchal and colonial influences. This article examines how Wong makes use of the strategy of writing as a ＂repressed＂ individual （both in terms of her subject position and language style）. Even though her language and sentences are at times short and dense, and the rhythm is fast, Wong demonstrates how one can reveal more by seemingly saying less. Attempts to reduce her text to a single interpretation have only resulted in failure. If it is hard for the repressed to speak without oppression, Wong illustrates how one can circumvent the constraints through the tactic of evasion, and demonstrates how the repressed can explode from gaps and silence.

Fundamentally, technology is the key to achieving a competitive advantage. Novel and advanced technologies and manufacturing systems have turned the attention of labour-intensive firms towards technological attractiveness. In the textile industry, advancements in technology and products are massive. The study sought to assess the extent to which managers of Small and Medium Textile Enterprises (STMEs) are taking advantage of the technology available in textile designing, production and marketing space, as there is a growing interest worldwide to boost the innovative activity of enterprises, especially technological innovation. The study is quantitative research. A multi-stage sampling procedure involving convenient, purposive and stratified sampling techniques was employed in this study. A sample size of 300 was drawn from the 80 SMTEs. The study discovered that most of the textile enterprises in Ghana mostly use computer-generated designs, manual screen printing and digital embroidery technologies in their production. The study also established that SMTEs continually resort to traditional advertising techniques rather than contemporary marketing and advertising mediums for marketing their products. In view of this, SMTEs should seek more knowledge regarding innovative contemporary marketing strategies to increase patronage.

We use a geometric model for hadron polarization in heavy ion collisions with an emphasis on the rapidity *** model is based on the model of Brodsky,Gunion,and Kuhn,as well as the Bjorken scaling *** make predictions regarding the rapidity dependence of global Λ polarization in the collision energy range of 7.7-200 GeV by assuming the rapidity dependence of two parameters,κ and . The predictions can be tested by future beam-energy-scan experiments at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider of Brookhaven National Lab.
