customer segmentation according to load-shape profiles using smart meter data is an increasingly important application to vital the planning and operation of energy systems and to enable citizens’participation in the energy *** study proposes an innovative multi-step clustering procedure to segment customers based on load-shape patterns at the daily and intra-daily time *** meter data is split between daily and hourly normalized time series to assess monthly,weekly,daily,and hourly seasonality patterns *** dimensionality reduction implicit in the splitting allows a direct approach to clustering raw daily energy time series *** intraday clustering procedure sequentially identifies representative hourly day-unit profiles for each customer and the entire *** the first time,a step function approach is applied to reduce time series *** attributes embedded in surveys are employed to build external clustering validation metrics using cramer’s V correlation factors and to identify statistically significant determinants of load-shape in energy *** addition,a time series features engineering approach is used to extract 16 relevant demand flexibility indicators that characterize customers and corresponding clusters along four different axes:available Energy(E),Temporal patterns(T),consistency(c),and Variability(V).The methodology is implemented on a real-world electricity consumption dataset of 325 Small and Medium-sized Enterprise(SME)customers,identifying 4 daily and 6 hourly easy-to-interpret,well-defined *** application of the methodology includes selecting key parameters via grid search and a thorough comparison of clustering distances and methods to ensure the robustness of the *** research can test the scalability of the methodology to larger datasets from various customer segments(households and large commercial)and locations with different weather and socioeconomic conditio

continuous-cyclic variations in the b-value of the earthquake frequency-magnitude distribution

Seismicity of the Earth （M ≥ 4.5） was compiled from NEIc, IRIS and ISc catalogues and used to compute b-value based on various time windows. It is found that continuous cyclic b-variations occur on both long and short time scales, the latter being of much higher value and sometimes in excess of 0.7 of the absolute b-value. These variations occur not only yearly or monthly, but also daily. Before the occurrence of large earthquakes, b-values start increasing with variable gradients that are affected by foreshocks. In some cases, the gradient is reduced to zero or to a negative value a few days before the earthquake occurrence. In general, calculated b-values attain maxima 1 day before large earthquakes and minima soon after their occurrence. Both linear regression and maximum likelihood methods give correlatable, but variable results. It is found that an expanding time window technique from a fixed starting point is more effective in the study of b-variations. The calculated b-variations for the whole Earth, its hemispheres, quadrants and the epicentral regions of some large earthquakes are of both local and regional character, which may indicate that in such cases, the geodynamic processes acting within a certain region have a much regional effect within the Earth. The b-variations have long been known to vary with a number of local and regional factors including tectonic stresses. The results reported here indicate that geotectonic stress remains the most significant factor that controls b-variations. It is found that for earthquakes with Mw ≥ 7, an increase of about 0.20 in the b-value implies a stress increase that will result in an earthquake with a magnitude one unit higher.

Using BlazePose on Spatial Temporal Graph convolutional Networks for Action Recognition

The ever-growing available visual data(i.e.,uploaded videos and pictures by internet users)has attracted the research community’s attention in the computer vision ***,finding efficient solutions to extract knowledge from these sources is ***,the BlazePose system has been released for skeleton extraction from images oriented to mobile *** this skeleton graph representation in place,a Spatial-Temporal Graph convolutional Network can be implemented to predict the *** hypothesize that just by changing the skeleton input data for a different set of joints that offers more information about the action of interest,it is possible to increase the performance of the Spatial-Temporal Graph convolutional Network for HAR ***,in this study,we present the first implementation of the BlazePose skeleton topology upon this architecture for action ***,we propose the Enhanced-BlazePose topology that can achieve better results than its ***,we propose different skeleton detection thresholds that can improve the accuracy performance even *** reached a top-1 accuracy performance of 40.1%on the Kinetics *** the NTU-RGB+D dataset,we achieved 87.59%and 92.1%accuracy for cross-Subject and cross-View evaluation criteria,respectively.

Status and prospects for symmetric organic redox flow batteries

As environmental concerns from fossil fuel consumption intensify, large-scale energy storage becomes imperative for the integration of renewable sources like wind, hydro, and solar with the electrical *** flow batteries, particularly those employing organic molecules, are positioned as a key technology for this purpose. This review explores the growing field of symmetric organic redox flow batteries(ORFBs) within this context. Unlike traditional asymmetric designs based on unique active materials for each electrode, symmetric ORFBs involve a single bipolar species for both electrodes. This review highlights the benefits of a symmetric design, and categorizes five distinct classes of organic bipolar molecules used in both aqueous and non-aqueous solvents. By providing a comprehensive overview of their cell cycling and performance characteristics, the strengths and weaknesses of the diverse categories of bipolar molecules are highlighted for both solvent systems, as are opportunities for future development. This should guide new research directions and advance the development of practical symmetric ORFBs.

Advanced Guided Whale Optimization Algorithm for Feature Selection in BlazePose Action Recognition

The BlazePose,which models human body skeletons as spatiotem-poral graphs,has achieved fantastic performance in skeleton-based action *** extraction from photos for mobile devices has been made possible by the BlazePose system.A Spatial-Temporal Graph con-volutional Network(STGcN)can then forecast the *** Spatial-Temporal Graph convolutional Network(STGcN)can be improved by simply replacing the skeleton input data with a different set of joints that provide more information about the activity of *** the other hand,existing approaches require the user to manually set the graph’s topology and then fix it across all input layers and *** research shows how to use the Statistical Fractal Search(SFS)-Guided whale optimization algorithm(GWOA).To get the best solution for the GWOA,we adopt the SFS diffusion algorithm,which uses the random walk with a Gaussian distribution method common to growing *** values are transformed into binary to apply to the feature-selection problem in conjunction with the BlazePose skeletal topology and stochastic fractal search to construct a novel implementation of the BlazePose topology for action *** our experiments,we employed the Kinetics and the NTU-RGB+D *** achieved actiona accuracy in the X-View is 93.14%and in the X-Sub is 96.74%.In addition,the proposed model performs better in numerous statistical tests such as the Analysis of Variance(ANOVA),Wilcoxon signed-rank test,histogram,and times analysis.
