The main objective of the study was to determine the effect of g.station and postg.station periods on development and course of seizure activity. The data obtained in the study showed that i) there is a reduction of both EEg.and behavioral seizures during.g.station in the presence of hippocampal epileptog.nic locus (kindling.model);ii) suppression of audiog.nic seizures occurs in g.station, and development of audiog.nic kindling.and decrease of seizure reactions occur in the pseudog.station state. It is assumed that in g.station period the intensification of the possible endog.nous inhibitory mechanisms follows the course of seizure activity.

Parkinsonism by unilateral,intranig.alβ-sitosterolβ-D-g.ucoside administration in rats is disting.ished in that theα-synuclein insult beg.ns unilaterally but spreads bilaterally and increases in severity over time,thus replicating.several clinical features of Parkinson’s disease,a typicalα-synucleinopathy.As Nurr1 repressesα-synuclein,we evaluated whether unilateral transfected of rNurr1-V5 transg.ne via neurotensin-polyplex to the substantia nig.a on day 30 after unilateralβ-sitosterolβ-D-g.ucoside lesion could affect bilateral neuropatholog. and sensorimotor deficits on day 30 post-transfection.This study found that rNurr1-V5 expression but not that of the g.een fluorescent protein(the neg.tive control)reducedβ-sitosterolβ-D-g.ucoside-induced neuropatholog..According.y,a bilateral increase in tyrosine hydroxylase-positive cells and arborization occurred in the substantia nig.a and increased tyrosine hydroxylase-positive ramifications in the striatum.In addition,tyrosine hydroxylase-positive cells displayed less senescence markerβ-g.lactosidase and more neuron-cytoskeleton markerβIII-tubulin and brain-derived neurotrophic factor.A sig.ificant decrease in activated microg.ia(positive to ionized calcium-binding.adaptor molecule 1)and neurotoxic astrocytes(positive to g.ial fibrillary acidic protein and complement component 3)and increased neurotrophic astrocytes(positive to g.ial fibrillary acidic protein and S100 calcium-binding.protein A10)also occurred in the substantia nig.a.These effects followed the bilateral reduction inα-synuclein ag.reg.tes in the nig.ostriatal system,improving.sensorimotor behavior.Our results show that unilateral rNurr1-V5 transg.ne expression in nig.al dopaminerg.c neurons mitig.tes bilateral neurodeg.neration(senescence and loss of neuron-cytoskeleton and tyrosine hydroxylase-positive cells),neuroinflammation(activated microg.ia,neurotoxic astrocytes),α-synuclein ag.reg.tion,and sensorimotor deficits.Increased neurotrophic astrocytes and brain-derived neurotrophic factor can mediate t

Aim: To report a familial case of syndromic retinitis pig.entosa identified at Aristide Le Dantec Hospital in Dakar and to describe their clinical characteristics ophthalmic. Observation: We report a sibling.g.oup of nine children, four died at a young.ag. from unknown causes. Three children were affected by retinitis pig.entosa, two cases were syndromic. A history of nyctalopia was found in all three affected children. The mean ag. of onset of decreased visual acuity was 6.6 years. Patient 1 affected by syndromic retinitis pig.entosa had an extraocular sig. of cystic dilation of the main bile duct. Patient 2 had myoclonic epilepsy, psychomotor retardation, and the molar tooth sig. on cerebral MRI (hig.ly sug.estive of Joubert syndrome). The third child had isolated retinitis pig.entosa. Ophthalmolog.cal examinations (fundus examination, electroretinog.am, and visual evoked potentials) and pediatric examinations in the remaining.two children were normal. Discussion and Conclusion: Retinitis pig.entosa is a rare deg.nerative disease that can be associated with several other malformations, hig.lig.ting.the importance of screening.for associated conditions. It presents a g.im functional prog.osis and a life prog.osis dependent on extraocular manifestations. Molecular biolog. (karyotyping. next-g.neration sequencing. could have identified the implicated g.nes and allowed for a formal diag.osis and g.netic counseling.

The Palu MW7.4 earthquake occurred on September 28, 2018, with the epicenter at 119.86°, 0.72°. The severe shaking.caused severe damag. in Central Sulawesi, especially in Palu. We conducted a postseismic deformation study to determine the deformation pattern and reduce future earthquakes’ impact.Interferometric Synthetic Aperture Radar(In SAR) data were processed using.Li CSBAS to g.t the time series. The time series data were fitted to exponential and log.rithmic functions to determine the mechanism of postseismic deformation. The exponential model identified the influence of the viscoelastic mechanism, and the log.rithm identified the afterslip mechanism. The Palu earthquake was fitted to log.rithmic and exponential, but the log.rithmic was more sig.ificant than an exponential function.Afterslip mechanism predominates, and viscoelastic mechanisms play a minor role in this postseismic deformation.

Objective:To summarize factors contributing.to the resilience of nurses in caring.for coronavirus disease 2019(COVID-19)patients.Methods:An integ.ative review was conducted according.to the recommendations proposed by Whittemore and Knafl.Articles were searched throug. 8 electronic databases:Pub Med,Scopus,Clinical Key for Nursing.Pro Quest,Medline and Wiley Online Library,CINAHL,and g.ruda,which are databases recommended by the Ministry of Education,Culture,Research,and Technolog. in Indonesia.Relevant ar ticles published in Eng.ish and Indonesia between 2019 and 2022,being.quantitative or qualitative theoreticalmethodolog.cal studies that analyzed or proposed factors to nurses’resilience in caring.for COVID-19 patients,were included,whereas primary studies that used review as a methodolog. to review an object of research were excluded.Results:From the 17 ar ticles that were included in this study,3 factors were found that contributed to the resilience of nurses in caring.for COVID-19 patients,namely personal factors,workplace/org.nizational factors,and social factors.Conclusions:Understanding.factors related to nurses’resilience during.the COVID-19 pandemic can contribute to meet nurses’resilience both physical y and psycholog.cally.g.od resilience of nurses during.a pandemic is useful for improving.nursing.care services and patient safety,as well as for being.able to avoid turnover intentions among.nurses in pandemic time.

Tannery wastewater causes serious ecolog.cal and sanitary damag.. Chemical analysis of water from Binlamdoune River of the medina of Fez was conducted and the results revealed the presence of toxic elements from tanneries and other industrial activities, which strong.y affected water quality. To determine the effectiveness of bioremediation for depollution, we studied the abundance and diversity of bacteria residing.in these polluted environments. Conducting.denaturing.g.adient g.l electrophoresis （PCR-Dg.E） of the 16S rDNA area using.primers related to bacteria showed a bacterial community belong.ng.to eubacterial g.oups, that is, Epsilonproteobacteria, Clostridia, Lactobacillales, Bacteroidetes, g.mmaproteobacteria, and Alphaproteobacteria. In addition, cloning.displayed the presence of clones belong.ng.to the Firmicutes g.oup. Moreover, scanning.electron microscopy revealed a sig.ificant heterog.neity of microorg.nism forms and structures. These endog.nous microbes could have a sig.ificant role in the purification of Binlamdoune River and Fez tannery wastewater.

Ovarian cancer is the deadliest g.necolog.cal malig.ancy.It is typically diag.osed at advanced stag.s of the disease,with metastatic sites disseminated widely within the abdominal cavity.Ovarian cancer treatment is challeng.ng.due to hig. disease recurrence and further complicated pursuant to acquired chemoresistance.Cancer stem cell(CSC)theory proposes that both tumor development and prog.ession are driven by undifferentiated stem cells capable of self-renewal and tumor-initiation.The most recent evidence revealed that CSCs in terms of ovarian cancer are not only responsible for primary tumor g.owth,metastasis and relapse of disease,but also for the development of chemoresistance.As the elimination of this cell population is critical for increasing.treatment success,a deeper understanding.of ovarian CSCs pathobiolog.,including.epithelial-mesenchymal transition,sig.aling.pathways and tumor microenvironment,is needed.Finally,before introducing.new therapeutic ag.nts for ovarian cancer,targ.ting.CSCs,accurate identification of different ovarian stem cell subpopulations,including.the very small embryoniclike stem cells sug.ested as prog.nitors,is necessary.To these ends,reliable markers of ovarian CSCs should be identified.In this review,we present the current knowledg. and a critical discussion concerning.ovarian CSCs and their clinical role.

In recent years,g.owing.awareness of the role of oxidative stress in brain health has prompted antioxidants,especially dietary antioxidants,to receive g.owing.attention as possible treatments strateg.es for patients with neurodeg.nerative diseases(NDs).The most widely studied dietary antioxidants include active substances such as vitamins,carotenoids,flavonoids and polyphenols.Dietary antioxidants are found in usually consumed foods such as fresh fruits,veg.tables,nuts and oils and are g.ining.popularity due to recently g.owing.awareness of their potential for preventive and protective ag.nts ag.inst NDs,as well as their abundant natural sources,g.nerally non-toxic nature,and ease of long.term consumption.This review article examines the role of oxidative stress in the development of NDs,explores the‘two-sidedness’of the blood-brain barrier(BBB)as a protective barrier to the nervous system and an impeding.barrier to the use of antioxidants as drug.medicinal products and/or dietary antioxidants supplements for prevention and therapy and reviews the BBB permeability of common dietary antioxidant suplements and their potential efficacy in the prevention and treatment of NDs.Finally,current challeng.s and future directions for the prevention and treatment of NDs using.dietary antioxidants are discussed,and useful information on the prevention and treatment of NDs is provided.
