Virtual Synchronous Generator Based Current Synchronous Detection Scheme for a Virtual Inertia Emulation in SmartGrids

Renewable energy sources, such as photovoltaic wind turbines, and wave power converters, use power converters to connect to the grid which causes a loss in rotational inertia. The attempt to meet the increasing energy demand means that the interest for the integration of renewable energy sources in the existing power system is growing, but such integration poses challenges to the operating stability. Power converters play a major role in the evolution of power system towards SmartGrids, by regulating as virtual synchronous generators. The concept of virtual synchronous generators requires an energy storage system with power converters to emulate virtual inertia similar to the dynamics of traditional synchronous generators. In this paper, a dynamic droop control for the estimation of fundamental reference sources is implemented in the control loop of the converter, including active and reactive power components acting as a mechanical input to the virtual synchronous generator and the virtual excitation controller. An inertia coefficient and a droop coefficient are implemented in the control loop. The proposed controller uses a current synchronous detection scheme to emulate a virtual inertia from the virtual synchronous generators. In this study, a wave energy converter as the power source is used and a power management of virtual synchronous generators to control the frequency deviation and the terminal voltage is implemented. The dynamic control scheme based on a current synchronous detection scheme is presented in detail with a power management control. Finally, we carried out numerical simulations and verified the scheme through the experimental results in a microgrid structure.

A theoretical investigation of the band alignment of type-I direct band gap dilute nitride phosphide alloy of GaN_xAs_yP_(1-x-y)/GaP quantum wells on GaP substrates

The GaP-based dilute nitride direct band gap material Ga（NAsP） is gaining importance due to the monolithic integra- tion of laser diodes on Si microprocessors. The major advantage of this newly proposed laser material system is the small lattice mismatch between GaP and Si. However, the large threshold current density of these promising laser diodes on Si substrates shows that the carrier leakage plays an important role in Ga（NAsP）/GaP QW lasers. Therefore, it is necessary to investigate the band alignment in this laser material system. In this paper, we present a theoretical investigation to optimize the band alignment of type-I direct band gap GaNxAsyP1-x-y/GaP QWs on GaP substrates. We examine the effect of nitrogen （N） concentration on the band offset ratios and band offset energies. We also provide a comparison of the band alignment of type-I direct band gap GaNxAsyP1-x-y/GaP QWs with that of the GaNxAsyP1-x-y/Al2Ga1-2P QWs on GaP substrates. Our theoretical calculations indicate that the incorporations of N into the well and AI into the barrier improve the band alignment compared to that of the GaAsP/GaP QW laser heterostructures.

Predictability of outcome of caustic ingestion by esophagogastroduodenoscopy in children

AIM: To assess the necessity of esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD) to predict the outcome of caustic ingestion in children. METHODS: The study included 206 children who underwent EGD because of ingestion of caustic substances between January 2005 and August 2010. Retrospective analysis of data of the patients was performed. RESULTS: The male/female ratio was 1.6 and mean age was 38.1 ± 28.8 mo. The caustic substances were acidic in 72 (34.9%) cases, alkaline in 56 (27.2%), liquid household bleach in 62 (30.1%), and unknown in 16 (7.8%). Fifty-seven (27.7%) patients were symptom-free. Significant clinical findings were observed in 149 (72.3%) patients. Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy findings of esophageal injury were grade 0 in 86 (41.7%) patients, grade 1 in 49 (23.8%), grade 2a in 42 (20.4%), grade 2b in 28 (13.6%), and grade 3a in 1 (0.5%) patient. 35 patients with grade 2a, 2b, and 3a injuries underwent esophageal dilation at second week of ingestion. Esophageal stricture, which necessitated a regular dilation program developed in 13 of the aforementioned 35 patients. There is no statistically significant difference in the rate of development of esophageal stricture between the patients who ingested acidic (15.3%) and alkaline (8.9%) substances (P = 0.32). Severe gastric injury was detected in 38 (18.5%) patients. The rate of development of gastric injury was significantly higher in the acidic group (14%) than in the alkaline group (2.9%) (P = 0.001). Out of 149 patients with clinical findings, 49 (32.9%) patients had no esophageal injury and 117 (78.5%) patients had no gastric lesion. Esophageal and severe gastric injuries were detected in 20 (35.1%) and 8 (14%) of patients with no clinical findings respectively. Pyloric stenosis developed in 6 patients. Pyloric obstruction improved with balloon dilation in 2 patients. Mean hospitalization time were 1.2 ± 0.5 d for grade 0 and 2.3 ± 5 d for grade 1 and 6.3 ± 6.2 d for grade 2a and 15.8 ± 18.6 d for grade 2b. It

Effects of tyrosine kinase inhibitor E7080 and eNOS inhibitor L-NIO on colorectal cancer alone and in combination

Objective：To investigate the effects of E7080 and N5-（1-iminoethyl）-L-ornithine dihydrochloride （L-NIO）on colorectal cancer alone and in ***：HT29 colorectal cancer cell line from Sap Institute was ***-time cell analysis （xCELLigence system） was performed to determine the effects of E7080 and L-NIO on colorectal cell *** apoptosis was determined with Annexin V staining,and the effect of agents on angiogenesis was determined with chorioallantoic membrane （CAM） ***：We found that E7080 has a strong antiproliferative effect with an half maximum inhibition of concentration （IC50） value of 5.60×10-8 mol/*** it has been observed that E7080 showed antiangiogenic and apoptotic effects on HT29 colorectal cancer *** scores of E7080 were 1.2,t.0 and 0.6 for 100,10 and 1 nmol/L E7080 concentrations,***,apoptosis has been detected in 71％ of HT29 colorectal cancer cells after administration of 100 nmol/L E7080 which may indicate strong apoptotic *** administration of L-NIO alone did not show any effect,but the combination of E7080 with L-NIO increased the antiproliferative,antiangiogenic and apoptotic effects of ***：Results of this study indicate that E7080 may be a good choice in treatment of colorectal *** the increased effects of E7080 when combined with L-NIO raise the possibility to use a lower dose of E7080 and therefore avoid/minimize the side effects observed with E7080.

Echinococcosis is a parasitic disease caused by the ,larval forms of echinococci. It has two main forms as the unilocular cystic form that is more commonly seen and caused by E. granulosus and the alveolar form that is rarely seen and caused by E. multilocularis. E. multilocularis usually contaminates from foxes and sometimes contaminates from domestic animals as dogs and cats to humans and usually affects the liver. Progression of alveolar echinococcosis is more severe and agressive. It can metastise to the lungs, brain and bones. We present a case of alveolar echinococcosis that was initially thought to be a lymphomatous infiltration but then determined to infect the liver, lung and brain in a patient with a large T-cell lymphoma.

In this study, at first class elementary school students’ school maturity levels;it is analyzed that preschool education and getting it or not, and the periods of going on the preschool education classes cause a difference. Independent variables of the study are having education or not and going on preschool education period. Dependent variable is school maturity. School maturity includes understanding words, sentences, general information, matching, numbers and copying skills. Target population of the study is first class elementary school students. And the sample is the chosen 104 girls, 104 boys;in total 280 students with personnel sample, from the chosen schools with random group sample. In this study which is in scan model, relational scanning is applied to test the effect of independent variables of the study on dependent variable. In the study, to determine if they have preschool education or not and the periods of going on preschool education ," Personal Information Form", to evaluate school maturity levels " Metropolitan Maturity Test" , which is improved by Hildert and adjusted to Turkish by Oktay （1983）, are used. T test is used in if they have preschool education or not, ANOVA and Turkey b test is used in the period of going on preschool education. In the analysis of datas, significance level is determined as 0.05. At the result of the study, at the level of school maturity of first class elementary school student;Metropolitan Maturity Test, " understanding word, sentences, general information, matching, numbers and copying skills" subscales in terms of having preschool education or not and the period of going on preschool education variables Show a remarkable difference.

In this study, it is aimed to evaluate if sex, birth order, number of siblings, mother education level variables of first class elementary school students cause a differance in social skills " basic social skills", " starting and maintaining relation skill", " emotional skills", " group compability skill", " interaction skills" and " cognitive skills" . Target population of the study is first class students of all elementary school establishments that include nursery class in 2010-2011 education year. From general population 12 elemantary schools are chosen as target population of the study with random group sample, 455 elemantary school students are taken to sample of the study." Evaluating Social Skills Scale （SBDO）’s basic social skills", "starting and maintaining relation skill", " emotional skills", "group compability skill", " transactional skills" and " cognitive skills" subscales and Personal Information Form are applied to students form the sample. In total, all the 455 surveys are taken to evaluation.

Efficiency of upper gastrointestinal endoscopy in pediatric surgical practice

After the introduction of flexible fiber optic endoscopy to pediatric gastroenterology in the 1970 s, upper gastrointestinal(UGI) endoscopy can be performed for the diagnosis and treatment of all age groups of children. We review indications, contraindications, preparation of patients for the procedure, and details of diagnostic and therapeutic UGI endoscopy used in pediatric surgery. We also discuss potential complications of endoscopy.
