Under Arctic warming,near-surface energy transfers have significantly changed,but few studies have focused on energy exchange over Arctic glacier due to limitations in available *** this study,the atmospheric energy exchange processes over the Arctic glacier surface were analyzed by using observational data obtained in summer 2019 in comparison with those over the Arctic tundra *** energy budget over the glacier greatly differed from that over the tundra,characterized by less net shortwave radiation and downward sensible heat flux,due to the high albedo and icy *** of the incoming solar radiation was injected into the glacier in summer,leading to snow ice *** the observation period,strong daily variations in near-surface heat transfer occurred over the Arctic glacier,with the maximum downward and upward heat fluxes occurring on 2 and 6 July 2019,*** analyses suggested that the maximum downward heat flux is mainly caused by the strong local thermal contrast above the glacier surface,while the maximum upward heat transfer cannot be explained by the classical turbulent heat transfer theory,possibly caused by countergradient heat *** results indicated that the near-surface energy exchange processes over Arctic glacier may be strongly related to local forcings,but a more in-depth investigation will be needed in the future when more observational data become available.

Studying the inner structure of intraplate earthquakes originating in aseismic areas， which are poorly covered by seismic networks or as historical earthquakes is usually the only way to get knowledge about their source mechanisms that is partially important to deeper understand intraplate geodynamics. The epicentral zones of earthquakes are situated in hard-to-reach areas， so， using active seismic methods for such purposes is unreasonable or even impossible because of high cost and logistical difficulties. We are presenting a way to join using different passive seismic methods， which allows us to get sufficient information about geological environment structure for such task solutions. As an example， we investigated the inner structure of platform earthquake epicentral zone originated up north of Russia. We used four passive seismic methods: microseismic sounding method， passive seismic interferometry， HVSR method， and microseismic activity method. We show that passive seismic data， recoded in the same installation and processed by these different methods， can provide sufficient information about structure of studied environment， needed to explain source mechanism. In sum， the hypocenter zone is presented by intersection of vertical faults and a lateral fractured zone in the middle crust. Results were confirmed by comparison with results by active seismic methods.

Sairme mineral water, one of the famous mineral waters in Georgia, is renowned for its exceptional healing properties. The distinctiveness and therapeutic benefits of the naturally sourced mineral water, known as “Sairme”, stem from its rich array of microelements, notably including iron and manganese. Since 1948, the bottling of Sairme mineral water has been a prominent activity. Named after the Sairme deposit, this mineral water is packaged in various formats to cater to diverse consumer preferences. The bottling process involves transporting the mineral water from wells to the bottling plant through pipelines. Prior to bottling, the mineral water undergoes meticulous processing stages in adherence to current Georgian and international regulations. This process ensures that the concentration of trace elements in the bottled water is minimized, maintaining its purity and quality. Given the importance of preserving the microelements present in bottled mineral water, our research is dedicated to optimizing the technological process. Our objective is to safeguard the valuable microelements while ensuring the highest standards of quality and safety in the final product.

ENSO Index Variations and Links with Solar and Volcanic Activity

In this paper, we investigated the Oceanic Niño Index (ONI), for simplicity called in this paper an El Nino Southern Oscillation (ENSO) index in 1950-2023 by applying the wavelet spectral transform and the IBM SPSS correlations analysis. ONI follows the three months’ current measurements of the average temperature of the sea surface in the East-Central tropical part of the Pacific Ocean nearby the international line of the date change over the average sea surface temperature over the past 30 years. The ENSO index is found to have a strong (>87%) correlation with the Global Land-Ocean Temperature (GLOT). The scatter plots of the ENSO-GLOT correlation with the linear and cubic fits have shown that the ENSO index is better fit by the cubic polynomial increasing proportionally to a cubic power of the GLOT variations. The wavelet analysis allowed us to detect the two key periods in the ENSO (ONI) index: 4 - 5 years and 12 years. The smaller period of 4.5 years can be linked to the motion of tectonic plates while the larger period of 12 years is shown to have a noticeable correlation of 25% with frequencies of the underwater (submarine) volcanic eruptions in the areas with ENSO occurrences. Not withholding any local terrestrial factors considered to contribute to the ENSO occurrences, we investigated the possibility of the volcanic eruptions causing ENSO to be also induced by the tidal forces of Jupiter and Sun showing the correlation of the underwater volcanic eruption frequency with the Jupiter-Earth distances to be 12% and with the Sun-Earth distances, induced by the solar inertial motion, in January, when the Earth is turned to the Sun with the southern hemisphere where the ENSO occurs, to become 15%. Hence, the underwater volcanic eruptions induced by tidal forces of Jupiter and Sun can be the essential additional factors imposing this 12 year period of the ENSO (ONI) index variations.

This research presents a novel nature-inspired metaheuristic algorithm called Frilled Lizard Optimization(FLO),which emulates the unique hunting behavior of frilled lizards in their natural *** draws its inspiration from the sit-and-wait hunting strategy of these *** algorithm’s core principles are meticulously detailed and mathematically structured into two distinct phases:(i)an exploration phase,which mimics the lizard’s sudden attack on its prey,and(ii)an exploitation phase,which simulates the lizard’s retreat to the treetops after *** assess FLO’s efficacy in addressing optimization problems,its performance is rigorously tested on fifty-two standard benchmark *** functions include unimodal,high-dimensional multimodal,and fixed-dimensional multimodal functions,as well as the challenging CEC 2017 test ***’s performance is benchmarked against twelve established metaheuristic algorithms,providing a comprehensive comparative *** simulation results demonstrate that FLO excels in both exploration and exploitation,effectively balancing these two critical aspects throughout the search *** balanced approach enables FLO to outperform several competing algorithms in numerous test ***,FLO is applied to twenty-two constrained optimization problems from the CEC 2011 test suite and four complex engineering design problems,further validating its robustness and versatility in solving real-world optimization ***,the study highlights FLO’s superior performance and its potential as a powerful tool for tackling a wide range of optimization problems.

Water Photomolecular Evaporation Due to Light-Mediated Ortho-Para Spin Transitions

Recent discoveries have revealed a groundbreaking phenomenon where light alone, without any thermal input, can induce water evaporation, termed the “photomolecular effect”. This study explores a novel hypothesis that this effect can be explained by ortho-para magnetic spin interactions in water molecules within the water-air interface layer. Water molecules, consisting of hydrogen and oxygen, exhibit different nuclear spin states: ortho-(triplet) and para-(singlet). The interaction of polarized light with these spin states may induce transitions between the rotational levels of ortho- and para-forms due to catalysts like triplet oxygen (O2) in its inhomogeneous magnetic field. Resonance pumping at 532 nm (~18,797 cm−1) due to the transition v1-v2-v3 ~ 0-8-2 (~18,796 cm−1) results in an increase in molecular energy sufficient to overcome intermolecular forces at the water surface, thereby causing evaporation. The proposed ortho-para conversion mechanism involves spin-orbit coupling and specific resonance conditions. This theory provides a quantum mechanical perspective on the photomolecular effect, potentially offering insights into natural processes such as cloud formation and climate modeling, as well as practical applications in solar desalination and industrial drying. Further experimental validation is required to confirm the role of spin interactions in light-induced water evaporation.

本研究以大豆油体为原料,将其作为乳化剂,通过超声技术制备大豆油体复合乳液,优化超声处理条件,并将油体复合乳液用于运载脂溶性生物活性物质。通过对乳液的理化性质研究,揭示超声处理增强油体复合乳液稳定性的机理并考察油体复合乳液对β-胡萝卜素的运载效果。结果表明,通过超声处理成功制备大豆油体复合乳液,乳液氧化稳定性和贮藏稳定性在功率为450 W(10 min)时最好,此时乳液平均粒径为1537 nm,液滴形状呈圆形且分布均匀。傅里叶变换红外光谱结果表明,超声引起的空化效应增加了湍流和剪切力等物理作用,使油体蛋白的多肽链部分打开,蛋白中的氢键网络发生重新排列,蛋白质二级结构发生改变:α-螺旋结构相对含量减少,β-折叠结构相对含量增多。电泳结果表明蛋白质亚基组成没有显著变化,但随着超声强度的增加,增强了外源蛋白在液滴界面的吸附。贮藏结果显示经过功率为450 W的超声处理可以抑制乳液中氧化产物的产生,提高乳液的氧化稳定性。通过超声处理可成功制备大豆油体-β-胡萝卜素乳液,其中在450 W条件下β-胡萝卜素的包封率最高(94.9%),且经过11 d室温贮藏后保留率为81.8%。本研究为大豆油体作为乳化剂运载脂溶性生物活性物质的应用提供参考。
