Chemical reproductive traits of diploid Bombus terrestris males： Consequences on bumblebee conservation

The current bumblebee decline leads to inbreeding in populations that fosters a loss of allelic diversity and diploid male production. As diploid males are viable and their offspring are sterile, bumblebee populations can quickly fall in a vortex of extinction. In this article, we investigate for the first time a potential premating mechanism through a major chemical reproductive trait （male cephalic labial gland secretions） that could prevent monandrous virgin queens from mating with diploid males. We focus our study on the cephalic labial gland secretions of diploid and haploid males ofBombus terrestris （L.）. Contrary to initial expectations, our results do not show any significant differentiation of cephalic labial gland secretions between diploid and haploid specimens. Queens seem therefore to be unable to avoid mating with diploid males based on their compositions of cephalic labial gland secretions. This suggests that the vortex of extinction of diploid males could not be stopped through premating avoidance based on the cephalic labial gland secretions but other mechanisms could avoid mating between diploid males and queens.

The flexibility of metal-organic frameworks(MOFs)featuring stimuli-responsive structural transitions is often governed not only by the chemical composition and topology but also by orthogonal factors such as particle size,desolvation method,and history of the sample.A precise understanding of the mechanism behind such observations has been lacking up to now,and there are still substantial open questions concerning the impact of sample treatment *** DUT-8(M)family([M_(2)(2,6-ndc)2(dabco)]n,2,6-ndc=2,6-naphthalene dicarboxylate,dabco=1,4-diazabicyclo-[2.2.2]-octane),encompasses isostructural compounds based on Ni,Zn,Co,and Cu in the cluster node and is representative of pillared layer MOFs,often showing flexible *** this contribution,we discuss a possible explanation for the differences in flexibility observed in desolvated phases of DUT-8(Cu).Theoretical calculations and crystallographic data shed light on the preferred formation of interpenetrated confined closed pore phases in DUT-8(Cu)in contrast to DUT-8(Ni,Co,Zn)where the closed pore phases are formed.

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease and liver transplantation-Where do we stand?

Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease/nonalcoholic steatohepatitis(NAFLD/NASH) is a challenging and multisystem disease that has a high socioeconomic impact. NAFLD/NASH is a main cause of macrovesicular steatosis and has multiple impacts on liver transplantation(LT), on patients on the waiting list for transplant, on posttransplant setting as well as on organ donors. Current data indicate new trends in the area of chronic liver disease. Due to the increased incidence of metabolic syndrome(Met S) and its components, NASH cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma caused by NASH will soon become a major indication for LT. Furthermore, due to an increasing incidence of Met S and, consequently, NAFLD, there will be more steatotic donor livers and less high quality organs available for LT, in addition to a lack of available liver allografts. Patients who have NASH and are candidates for LT have multiple comorbidities and are unique LT candidates. Finally, we discuss long-term grafts and patient survival after LT, the recurrence of NASH and NASH appearing de novo after transplantation. In addition, we suggest topics and areas that require more research for improving the health care of this increasing patient population.

Determinants of Female Employment rate in the European Union

The aim of this paper is to provide a clear insight about the determinants of female employment rate in the European Union where we have used panel data analyses of 27 countries members of the European Union from 1995 till 2009. Applying dynamic modeling, i.e, generalized method of moments （GMM） econometrics findings have driven us to system estimated model where the following institutional variables have been tested： maternity leave, child care facilities, college education, fertility rate, GDP growth, female unemployment rate and part-time employment. We expect these variables to have a positive impact on the female employment rate except for the female unemployment rate and maternity leave

The reasons influencing the formation of altars during the 17 th century – the first half of the 19 th century are figured out on the basis of the system conception. Predominant style schools of that time architecture supported by edited treatises and sketchbooks with engravings and reproductions of European artificers are determined on the assumption of disclosed and studied archival materials of architectural-artful altar development of Belarus during the 17 th century – the first half of the 19 th century is analyzed in this paper. The extent of different European architectural schools impact is determined. Architecture development tendencies depending on the material and belonging to a congregational or monastic temple are revealed. Possible variants of architecturalcompositional concept are simultaneously envisaged.

Immobilization of cadmium contamination in soils by precipitation of nonassimilable for plants Cd-phosphates was considered. Glassy fertilizer of controlled release rate of the nutrients for plants as a source of phosphate anions was applied. The negative role of Cd complexing citric acid solution simulating the natural soil conditions, which inhibits the Cd-phos-phates formation, was stated.

Intrahepatic expression of genes related to metabotropic receptors in chronic hepatitis

AIM： To screen for genes related to metabotropic re- ceptors that might be involved in the development of chronic hepatitis. METHODS： Assessment of 20 genes associated with metabotropic receptors was performed in liver speci- mens obtained by punch biopsy from 12 patients with autoimmune and chronic hepatitis type B and C. For this purpose, a microarray with low integrity grade and with oligonucleotide DNA probes complementary to target transcripts was used. Evaluation of gene expression was performed in relation to transcript level, correlation between samples and grouping of clinical parameters used in chronic hepatitis assessment. Clini- cal markers of chronic hepatitis included alanine and aspartate aminotransferase, ~,-glutamyltranspeptidase, alkaline phosphatase and cholinesterase activity, levels of iron ions, total cholesterol, triglycerides, albumin, glucose, hemoglobin, platelets, histological analysis of inflammatory and necrotic status, fibrosis according to METAVIr score, steatosis, as well as anthropometric body mass index, waist/hip index, percentage of adi- pose tissue and liver size in ultrasound examination. Gender, age, concomitant diseases and drugs were also taken into account. Validation of oligonucleotide microarray gene expression results was done with the use of quantitative real-time polymerase chain reaction （qrT-PCr）. rESULTS： The highest （0.002 〈 P 〈 0.046） expres- sion among genes encoding main components of metabotropic receptor pathways, such as the a subunit of G-coupled protein, phosphoinositol-dependent pro- tein kinase or arrestin was comparable to that of an- giotensinogen synthesized in the liver. Carcinogenesis suppressor genes, such as chemokine ligand 4, tran- scription factor early growth response protein 1 and lysophosphatidic acid receptor, were characterized by the lowest expression （0.002 〈 P 〈 0.046）, while the factor potentially triggering hepatic cancer, transcrip- tion factor JUN-B, had a 20-fold higher expression. Dynamic Model for Evaluation of risk Factors During Work in Hot Environment

Mathematical model is developed for prediction of physiological changes in man during work in hot environment taking into consideration intensity of work, clothing and environment. To evaluate human functional state the heat stress index was calculated. Modeling researches made the conclusion that the main risk factor during work in hot environment is water losses that happens through thermoregulatory sweat evaporation. Modeling showed that in humid environment man wearing protective clothing has short time to work as water losses became more than 2% of human weight that means body dehydration. Preliminary model prediction can be used as preventive method to avoid hazard of human health.

The rare earth elements (rEE) are of great interests due to wide industrial applications. In the present work, geochemistry of rEE in the contaminated pond sediment of Ambagarh Chowki, cen-tral India is described. The concentration (n = 24) of La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Eu, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, Lu, Th and U was ranged from 16 - 119, 41 - 163, 4.1 - 28, 16 - 99, 0.7 - 2.7, 3.2 - 18, 2.7 - 16, 0.4 - 2.3, 2.2 - 13, 0.4 - 2.4, 1.1 - 6.1, 0.2 - 0.8, 0.9 - 4.8, 0.13 - 0.70, 6 - 25 and 0.46 - 1.86 mg/kg with mean value of 42 ± 9, 89 ± 13, 9.4 ± 1.9, 34 ± 7, 1.2 ± 0.2, 6.3 ± 1.2, 5.4 ± 1.0, 0.8 ± 0.1, 4.2 ± 0.8, 0.8 ± 0.2, 2.0 ± 0.4, 0.3 ± 0.1, 1.6 ± 0.3, 0.24 ± 0.04, 11 ± 2 and 1.14 ± 0.13 mg/kg, respectively. The concen-tration ratio of ∑LrEE/∑HrEE, La/Y and Th/U are discussed. The spatial distribution and sources of the rEE are described.
