The Effect of Allerg.c Rhinitis on Quality of Life in Patients Suffering.from the Disease: A Case Control Study

Backg.ound: Apart from nasal symptoms allerg.c rhinitis was associated with ocular or other symptoms affecting.social and somatic activities or sleep. In the literature, only a few prospective studies reg.rding.allerg.c rhinitis and holistic consideration of quality of life were reported. Methods: The aim of this case control study was to investig.te prospectively the effect of allerg.c rhinitis on quality of life. 103 patients (50 males and 53 females) with mean ag. 30.8 ±13.4 years, rang. 18 - 55 years, diag.osed with the disease with skin prick testing. were evaluated reg.rding.quality of life by using.the g.neral Health Questionnaire-28, the Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS) and the mini Rhinocon-junctivitis Quality of Life Questionnaire. 50 participants without history or al-lerg.c symptoms during.the last 12 months formed the control g.oup. Inde-pendent sample t-tests were conducted to assess sig.ificant differences between patients with allerg.c rhinitis and controls reg.rding.all the examined parameters concerning.quality of life. Data was analyzed using.Windows statistical packag. of SPSS version 18.0 (SPSS Inc., Chicag., IL, USA). Statistical sig.ificance was set a priori at 0.05. Results: Dust mite, mixed g.ass and pollens were the most common allerg.ns found in patients with allerg.c rhinitis. It was also observed that the examined patients showed statistically worse results concerning.not only physical and social activities but also quality of sleep and nasal or other symptoms as compared to healthy controls (p 0.05). Conclusion: Allerg.c rhinitis neg.tively affected the quality of life especially the parameters that were related to psychosocial activities and sleep, which mig.t have an impact on daily living.

Tremor occurs in about half of multiple sclerosis(MS)*** tremor has a broad frequency rang. of 2.5-7 Hz,with a hig.er prevalence of postural tremor(44%)compared to intentional tremor(6%)(Alusi et al.,2001).Tremor may affect the upper and lower extremities,head,and trunk,and may even affect the vocal cords in isolated cases of palatal *** tremor is classically attributed to lesions of the brain stem,cerebellum,or cerebellar peduncles,and tremor intensity has been shown to correlate with the number of lesions or their functional ***,recent work has demonstrated that inflammatory damag. to the cerebello-thalamic and cortico-thalamic pathways mig.t also play an important role in causing.tremor,as it co-occurs with other sig.s and symptoms of MS such as dysarthria,dysmetria,dysdiadochokinesia,and dystonia(Alusi et al.,2001).

We herein present a simple,fast,low-temperature,post-g.ass melting.fabrication protocol in which a photochromic silver cation based modified zone is incorporated within silver metaphosphate g.ass(Ag.O_(3)).The selection of Ag.O_(3)g.ass is mainly based on its relative“soft”nature(T_(g.=192℃)that enables the integ.ation of silver cations from the surface deposited Ag.l layer,while being.transparent in most of the visible rang.,and therefore suitable for smart photochromic window *** sug.ested synthesis procedure permits the controlled formation of a silver cation modified layer within the host g.ass matrix,while the characteristics of the layer itself can be adjusted *** finding. reveal a direct relationship between the developed composite Ag.leAg.O_(3)g.ass photochromic response and the morpholog.cal features of the integ.ated layer,i.e.,thickness and *** importantly,the photochromic response time with various UV irradiation doses is also studied,where remarkable response times of several seconds are *** and efforts to further enhance the photochromic performance by utilizing.the presence of silver nanoparticles within the g.ass matrix are also presented and discussed.

For the years 2008-2013, particles of diameter 〈 10 and 2.5 μm （PM10 and PM2.5, respectively）, NOx, SO2, and O3 concentrations at urban, suburban, rural, and traffic sites in the Paris metropolitan area were analyzed. Strong.spatial variability at traffic and rural sites and relatively uniform profiles at urban and suburban sites for PM10, PM2.5, and O3 were observed. The O3 weekend effect was induced by lower NOx emissions during.the weekend, and favored volatile org.nic compounds （VOCs）-limited atmospheric conditions. In conJunction with low ambient temperature, these conditions could also favor increased formation of secondary particulate nitrates in winter. Winter air pollution events were associated with multiple pollutants, whereas those observed in spring.were caused by hig. PM10 and PM2.5 levels. Back- ward trajectory analyses showed the contribution of sources in Western and Central Europe on days with hig. PM10, PM2.5, and O3, and a local/national comvonent for NOx and SO2.

Introduction: Minor salivary g.and tumors are relatively rare, but have a hig.er chance of malig.ancy than major salivary g.and tumors. The palate appears to be the most commonly involved site. The most frequent benig. tumor is the pleomorphic adenoma. Case report: We report a case of a pleomorphic adenoma, which occurred in the hard and soft palate of a 34-year-old female and presented as an asymptomatic slow g.owing. painless mass. The patient was successfully treated with surg.cal excision. Discussion: Minor salivary g.and tumors should be considered in the differential diag.osis of oral cavity and especially palate tumors. A histolog.cal examination is necessary due to the hig. percentag. of malig.ancy.

The recent discoveries of pulsed X-ray emission from three ultraluminous X-ray （ULX） sources have finally enabled us to recog.ize a subclass within the ULX class： the g.eat pretenders, neutron stars （NSs） that appear to emit X-ray radiation at isotropic luminosities Lx = 7 × 10^39 erg.s-1 _ 1 ×10^41 erg.s-i only because their emissions are strong.y beamed toward our direction and our sig.t lines are offset by only a few deg.ees from their mag.etic-dipole axes. The three known pretenders appear to be strong.r emitters than the presumed black holes of the ULX class, such as Holmberg.II ＆ IX X-1, IC10 X-1 and Ng. 300 X-1. For these three NSs, we have adopted a sing.e reasonable assumption, that their brig.test observed outbursts unfold at the Edding.on rate, and we have calculated both their propeller states and their surface mag.etic-field mag.itudes. We find that the results are not at all different from those recently obtained for the Mag.llanic Be/X-ray pulsars： the three NSs reveal modest mag.etic fields of about 0.3-0.4Tg.and beamed propeller-line X-ray luminosities of 1036 - 1037 erg.s-1, substantially below the Edding.on limit.
