In the Eurasian forest-steppe,with increasing aridity,the balance between naturally co-existing forest and grassland patches is expected to shift towards grassland dominance in the long run,although feedback mechanisms and changes in land-use may alter this *** this study,we compared old and recent aerial photographs of Hungarian forest-steppes to find out whether and how the forest proportion and the number of forest patches change at the decadal time *** percentage area covered by forest significantly increased in all study *** observed forest encroachment may be a legacy from earlier land-use:due to ceased or reduced grazing pressure,forests are invading grasslands until the potential forest cover allowed by climate and soil is *** number of forest patches significantly increased at one site(Fülöpháza),while it decreased at two sites(Bugac and Orgovány)and showed no significant change at the fourth site(Tázlár).This indicates that forest encroachment can happen at least in two different ways:through the emergence of new forest patches in the grassland,and through the extension and coalescence of already existing forest *** the present work revealed increasing tree cover at a decadal time scale,the dynamic process should be monitored in the future to see how the vegetation reacts to further *** could help devise a conservation strategy,as the woody/non-woody balance has a profound influence on basic ecosystem properties.

Debris flow triggered by rainfall that accompanies a volcanic eruption is a serious secondary impact of a volcanic *** probability of debris flow events can be estimated based on the prior information of rainfall from historical and geomorphological data that are presumed to relate to debris flow *** this study,a debris flow disaster warning system was developed by applying the Na?¨ve Bayes Classifier(NBC).The spatial likelihood of the hazard is evaluated at a small subbasin scale by including high-resolution rainfall measurements from X-band polarimetric weather radar,a topographic factor,and soil type as *** study was conducted in the Gendol River Basin of Mount Merapi,one of the most active volcanoes in *** and debris flow occurrence data were collected for the upper Gendol River from October 2016 to February 2018 and divided into calibration and validation *** NBC was used to estimate the status of debris flow incidences displayed in the susceptibility map that is based on the posterior probability from the *** system verification was performed by quantitative dichotomous quality indices along with a contingency *** the validation datasets,the advantage of the NBC for estimating debris flow occurrence is *** work contributes to existing knowledge on estimating debris flow susceptibility through the data mining *** the existence of predictive uncertainty,the presented system could contribute to the improvement of debris flow countermeasures in volcanic regions.

The extraordinary situation related to COVID-19 makes people worry about their health,family health,work,ﬁnances,and other daily *** condition can lead to social unrest,which has consequences for mental health *** study aims to determine the mental health consequences at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic in *** is a cross-sectional study involving a target population aged 18 years and over who had access to electronic communication *** online questionnaire was randomly distributed and snowballed throughout 34 provinces in *** study was conducted from 2 to 4 May ***-parametric and multi-variate linear regression analyses were performed to identify factors associated with anxiety and *** thousand seven hundred forty-three participants were involved in this study,with 69.16%*** sum,6.92%of participants had General Anxiety Disorder-7(GAD-7)scores≥10 for moderate-severe anxiety symptoms,and 8.57%had Patient Health Questionnaire-9(PHQ-9)scores≥10 for moderate-severe depressive *** multivariate linear regression analyses showed that the strongest factors inﬂuencing anxiety and depression were a history of mental illnesses,chronic illnesses,the group affected by layoffs or job seekers,unemployed,students,younger age group,living in a rented house,single,and *** contrast,the lower and secondary education level seems to reduce the risk of depression compared to those with higher education *** and depression occur during the periods of activity restriction during the COVID-19 pandemic and are inﬂuenced by several modiﬁable and non-modiﬁable *** is an urgent need to emphasize vulnerable groups such as those with a history of illness,those affected by layoffs/looking for work,and the younger age group.

East Java Propolis Inhibits Cytokine Pro-inflammatory in Odontoblast-Like Cells Human Pulp

Inflammation in pulp tissue is caused by caries bacteria. Most bacteria found are Lactobacillus acidophilus. Propolis is a sticky resin material that is derived from the bees and the surrounding plants, which are reported to have several biological effects including anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory. This study will prove the effectiveness of propolis against proinflammatory cytokines on odontoblast-like cells in human dental pulp. This study was performed on cultured odontoblast-like cells in pulp. Cell culture was derived from the pulp tissue of human M3 teeth that had been extracted. Odontoblast pulp culture was divided in three groups： group one, cultured cells with propolis; group two, cultured cells induced with inactive Lactobacillus acidophilus; group three, cultured cells induced with inactive Lactobacillus acidophilus and exposed to 3 μg/mL propolis. A measurement of TNF-α and TGF-β1 expression was done using the immunocytochemical technique to determine the effectiveness of propolis extracts from East Java Indonesia against proinfalmmatory cytokines. Data were analyzed using the analysis of variance （ANOVA） test （P = 0.05）. Propolis extract can inhibit the expression of TNF-α and increase the expression of TGF-β1 on odontoblast-like cell in human dental pulp. Anti-inflammatory effects of East Java propolis extract are associated with cytokine modulation.
