Current Usage of Terminologies Related to Acupotomy: A Literature Research and Standardization Suggestion

Objective: To investigate the current usage of terminologies related to acupotomy through systematic search and analyze the pros and cons of each for proposing a standard terminology. Methods: Seven medical journal databases were searched including PubMed, EMBASE, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials, China National Knowledge Infrastructure, Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System, KoreaMed, and Korean studies Information Service System using 10 candidate terminologies as searching terms. All studies published from their inception to July 26, 2017 were collected. Articles were included if the title stated one of the 10 candidate terminologies consistent with the definition of acupotomy. Priorly established frequency and consistency of each candidate terminology from medical databases were calculated and evaluated. Moreover, the pros and cons of each were analyzed to propose a standard terminology. Results: A total of 112 studies in English databases, 1,129 studies in Chinese database, and 44 studies in Korean databases were included. The most frequently used terminologies were needle knife(35.71%), acupotomy(48.54%) and acupotomy(90.90%) in English, Chinese and Korean database, respectively. Overall, acupotomy and needle knife were the most frequently used. Others like acupotomology, needle scalpel, miniscalpel acupuncture and miniscalpel needle were used within 10% of the total searched literature. Acupotome, stiletto needle, sword like needle, and Xiaozhendao were rarely used. Acupotomy had the advantages of high frequency and consistency but lacked representativeness. Needle knife also showed a high frequency, but the consistency was poor. Though miniscalpel acupuncture and miniscule needle were used less frequently, they had advantages of inclusiveness and clarity. AIM: To identify prognostic factors and to correlate APC mutations with clinical features, including extracolic manifestations. METHODS: One hundred thirty-five patients who underwent surgical procedures for familial adenomatous polyposis(FAP) were included. FAP was diagnosed when the number of adenomatous polyps was > 100. Data related to patient, extracoloic manifestations, cancer characteristics, operative procedure, follow up and surveillance were collected. APC mutation testing was performed in the 30 most recent patients. DNA was extracted from peripheral blood and polymerase chain reaction products using 31 primer pairs on APC gene were sequenced. A retrospective study was performed to investigate a causal relationship between prognosis and feature of ***: The mean age of the 51 patients with colorectal cancer(CRC) was older than that of those without CRC(30.5 vs 36.9, P = 0.002). Older individuals were more likely to have colon cancer at the time of FAP diagnosis [odds ratio, 4.75(95%CI: 1.71-13.89) and 5.91(1.76-22.12) for 40-49 years and age > 50 vs age < 30). The number of confirmed deaths was 13 and the median age at death was 40 years(range, 27 to 85 years). Ten of the deaths(76.9%) were from CRC. Another cause of two cases of death were desmoid tumors(15.4%). Development of cancer on remnant rectal or ileal mucosa after surgery was not observed. The APC mutation testing revealed 23 pathogenic mutations and one likely pathogenic mutation, among which were four novel mutations. The correlation between mutational status and clinical manifestations was investigated. Mutations that could prodict poor prognosis were at codon 1309 which located on mutation cluster region, codon 1465 and codon ***: Identification of APC mutations should aid in the diagnosis and counseling of family members in terms of early diagnosis and management of FAP.

Centrifugal pumps are being widely used in many industrial and commercial *** of these pumps are being operated at constant speed but could provide energy savings through adjustable speed *** purpose of this study was to get the energy saving rates of the multistage centrifugal pump with variable speed *** this investigation an experimental set up of variable flow and pressure system was made to get energy saving rates and numerical analyses are applied to validate the pump *** energy saving and therefore the cost saving depends on the specific duty cycle of which the machine *** cycle is the proportion of time during which a component,device and system is *** duty cycle segmented into different flow rates and weighting the average value for each segment by the interval *** system was operated at 50%or less of the pump *** input power of the system was carried out by pump characteristics curve of each operating *** energy consumption was done by the product of specific duty cycle and the input power of the system for constant speed and variable speed drive *** total energy consumed for constant speed drive pump was 75,770 k *** and for variable speed drive pump was 31,700 k *** total energy saving of the system was 44,070 k *** or 58.16%***,this paper suggests a method of implementing an energy saving on variable-flow and pressure system of the multistage centrifugal pump.

Analysis of the Sloshing Flows of a LNG Cargo Tank

The sloshing flows in a LNG cargo tank model （1/50 scale） of a ship are measured by an embedded pano- ramicPIV system. The measurement system consists of a Nd-Yag laser（120mJ, 15Hz）, two cameras（lk x lk） and a host computer. Four experimental cases were tested for the tank model, in which swaying motions are made by a 6 DOF-motion platform. The amplitudes of swaying are 9.76mm and 29.29mm, and the swaying frequencies are 0.633Hz and 0.828Hz. The measurement regions are the vertical plane 50ram away from the front wall of the tank where a pump tower is installed. It was verified that the flow patterns of the sloshing are similar to each other when the swaying amplitudes are similar.

AIM: To determine the clinicopathologic characteristics of surgically treated ulcerative colitis(UC) patients, and to compare the characteristics of UC patients with colitis-associated cancer(CAC) to those without CAC. METHODS: Clinical data on UC patients who underwent abdominal surgery from 1980 to 2013 were collected from 11 medical institutions. Data were analyzed to compare the clinical features of patients with CAC and those of patients without ***: Among 415 UC patients, 383(92.2%) underwent total proctocolectomy, and of these, 342(89%) were subjected to ileal pouch-anal anastomosis. CAC was found in 47 patients(11.3%). Adenocarcinoma was found in 45 patients, and the others had either neuroendocrine carcinoma or lymphoma. Comparing the UC patients with and without CAC, the UC patients with CAC were characteristically older at the time of diagnosis, had longer disease duration, underwent frequent laparoscopic surgery, and were infrequently given preoperative steroid therapy(P < 0.001-0.035). During the 37 mo mean follow-up period, the 3-yearoverall survival rate was 82.2%.CONCLUSION: Most Korean UC patients experience early disease exacerbation or complications. Approximately 10% of UC patients had CAC, and UC patients with CAC had a later diagnosis, a longer disease duration, and less steroid treatment than UC patients without CAC.
