The aim of this work was to study the influence of the processing route on the microstructural constituents,hardness andtribological(wear and friction)behavior of Ti6Al4V biomedical *** this sense,three different processing routes were studied:conventional casting,hot pressing and selective laser melting.A comprehensive metallurgical,mechanical and tribologicalcharacterization was performed by X-ray diffraction analysis,Vickers hardness tests and reciprocating ball-on-plate wear tests ofTi6Al4V/Al2O3sliding *** results showed a great influence of the processing route on the microstructural constituents andconsequent differences on hardness and wear *** highest hardness and wear resistance were obtained for Ti6Al4Valloy produced by selective laser melting,due to a markedly different cooling rate that leads to significantly different microstructurewhen compared to hot pressing and *** study assesses and confirms that selective laser melting is potential to producecustomized Ti6Al4V implants with improved wear performance.

Due to the current water scarcity in the world,it is extremely important to improve the use of this natural and exhaustible resource in agriculture,by contributing to increase agricultural production and *** models of crop growth simulation were developed to predict the edaphoclimatic effects on crop *** models are calibrated and validated for a given region using the data generated from field ***,the objective of this study was to calibrate and validate the FAO AquaCrop model for yacon(smallanthus sonchifolius)crop in a tropical *** experiment was conducted in an experimental area located in the municipality of Ibatiba,state of Espírito santo(Brazil)during the years of 2013 and *** calibration was done using the Autumn planting and validation with the Winter and spring *** the statistical analysis,the coefficient of determination,Willmott concordance index,bias for the systematic error,root mean square error and the mean absolute error to test the model performance were *** general,the FAO AquaCrop model predicted the root yield,total biomass and harvest index with acceptable accuracy,and with deviations of less than 6%for total and root *** planting of yacon showed a reduction in yield as well as total biomass.

Phytochemical investigations of the ethanolic extract of leaves of Clutia lanceolata(Family:Euphorbiaceae)resulted in the isolation of four compounds viz.3,4-dihydroxy-2-methylbenzoic acid(1),2,20-dihydroxy-1,10-binaphthyl(2),1,3,8-trihydroxy-6-methylanthracene-9,10-dione(3)and 5-hydroxy-1,7-bis(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)hepta-1,4,6-trien-3-one(4).Although all the isolated compounds were known but this was the first report from this plant *** structures were established on the basis of chemical and physical evidences *** analysis,FT-IR,1 H-NMR,13CNMR and mass spectral *** of compound 2 and 4 was further authenticated by single-crystal X-ray analysis and density functional theory *** isolated compounds(1–4)were screened for AChE enzyme inhibition assay in which compound 3 and 4 were found to be more potent AChE *** docking study of potent AChE inhibitor was performed to find the probable binding mode of the compounds into the active site of ***,the isolated compounds were also screened for in vivo cytotoxicity by brine shrimp lethality assay.

Ti6Al4V cellular structures were produced by selective laser melting(sLM)and then filled either with beta-tricalcium phosphate(β-TCP)or PEEK(poly-ether-ether-ketone)through powder metallurgy techniques,to improve osteoconductivity and wear *** corrosion behavior of these structures was explored considering its importance for the long-term performance of *** revealed that the incorporation of open cellular pores induced higher electrochemical kinetics when being compared with dense *** impregnation ofβ-TCP and PEEK led to the creation of voids or gaps between the metallic matrix and the impregnated material which also influenced the corrosion behavior of the cellular structures.

Physiological Effect of Kinetin on the Photosynthetic Apparatus and Antioxidant Enzymes Activities During Production of Anthurium

The results observed in the literature raise the hypothesis according to which cytokinin plays important roles in photosynthetic metabolisms and antioxidant enzymes. Thus, the study aimed to evaluate the effect of foliar application of the isolated cytokinin kinetin at the production cycle, seeking to analyze its effects on enzyme activity and photosynthetic parameters. The plants treated with CK presented reduction of leaf CO_2 assimilation rate(Pn) and stomatal conductance(Gs), while that transpiration rate(Tr) was unaffected. The internal CO_2 concentrations decreased with the increase in cytokinin levels, but were maintained under CK 50 mg·L^(-1). The plants treated with CK 75 mg·L^(-1) was verified higher carboxylation efficiency(Pn/Ci), which was associated to values of CO_2 assimilation and transpiration unaltered. Apparent electron transport rate showed variations in the concentration of 25 mg·L^(-1). Considering the study of enzyme activity, on the other hand, it cannot be stated that kinetin has an effective action in delaying oxidative damage. It presents mixed results, since an efficiency in the application of cytokinin was not observed, presenting induction levels of ascorbate peroxidase activity. Thus, further research is needed to determine more precisely the effects of kinetin on gas exchange and antioxidant enzymes in anthurium plants.

Mineral consumption is increasing rapidly as more consumers enter the market for minerals and as the global standard of living increases. As a result, underground mining continues to progress to deeper levels in order to tackle the mineral supply crisis in the 21 st century. However, deep mining occurs in a very technical and challenging environment, in which significant innovative solutions and best practice are required and additional safety standards must be implemented in order to overcome the challenges and reap huge eco- nomic gains. These challenges include the catastrophic events that are often met in deep mining engineering： rockbursts, gas outbursts, high in situ and redistributed stresses, large deformation, squeezing and creeping rocks, and high temperature. This review paper presents the current global status of deep mining and high-lights some of the newest technological achievements and opportunities associated with rock mechanics and geotechnical engineering in deep mining. Of the various technical achievements, unmanned workingfaces and unmanned mines based on fully automated mining and mineral extraction processes have become important fields in the 21 st century.

Wild King Cobras, Ophiophagus hannah, are known to prey almost exclusively on snakes. We observed opportunistic ingestion of a plastic bag by a radio-tracked adult male O. hannah, which was detrimental to the health of the individual and likely lead to its death. Our observation demonstrates that improper disposal of food and plastic waste can be a threat to snakes, highlighting the need to maintain a waste-free environment, especially in areas inhabited by vulnerable species.

The first record of ritualized combat behavior between two male Calloselasma rhodostoma（Malayan Pit Viper） was observed in sakaerat Biosphere Reserve, Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand. Although most of the behavior of C. rhodostoma was similar to that recorded for other viperids, an instance of submissive behavior, which to our knowledge, has not been recorded in any snake species. Additional field observations are required to better understand the structure and function of combat behavior in C. rhodostoma.

This paper will present questions from three perspectives about Quantum Mechanics （QM）： physics, epistemological, and metaphysical. The quantum phenomena do not fit with the parameters of classical physics, so a daily intuition on macroscopic world is dispensable when it is the quantum object investigated. This physical domain induces a new thinking, which requires also new concepts to describe such object. The QM is disturbing and stimulates epistemological reflections, as the issues of access about what is known; and metaphysical theme are not to be left behind with regard to QM： What would the quantum object to？ What is apprehended when this object is perceived, once considered the disturbing characteristics that constitute its physical description： interference and non-separability？ What is its nature？ This paper focuses briefly on the analysis of B. d＇Espagnat in Veiled Reality, which would represent the physical perspective of QT; for epistemological questions, one will resort to the Kantian conception of knowledge; and with regard to the metaphysical perspective, we will rely on an article by Professor J. B. Arenhart. It is necessary to note that the question that pervades in this paper is about if the experience in QM is built. Thus, we will try to seek clarity on the philosophical issues through QT, regarding the problems about the possibility of knowledge of the quantum object and its nature, and whether experience in this case is built. But furthermore, the QM instigates us to think whether metaphysics proceeds on the investigation of nature when it comes to the QM. And such a question is more than to have as problem as the scope of the description of physical data, but rather whether it makes sense or whether metaphysical research is pertinent to the QM.
