A deeper phylogeographic structure is expected for slow-dispersing habitat specialists compared to widespread adaptable species,especially in topographically complex *** tested this classic assumption by comparing the genomic(RAD-sequencing)phylogeographies of 2 amphibians inhabiting the swiss Alps:the mobile,cosmopolitan common frog(Rana temporaria)against the stationary,mountain endemic Alpine salamander(salamandra atra).Our results ran opposite of predictions:the frog displayed significantly higher genetic divergences and lower within-population variation compared to the *** implies a prominent role for their distinctive glacial histories in shaping intraspecific diversity and structure:diversification and recolonization from several circum-Alpine micro-refugia for the frog versus a single refugium for the salamander,potentially combined with better population connectivity and *** striking differences emphasize the great variability of phylogeographic responses to the Quaternary glaciations,hence the complexity to predict general patterns of genetic diversity at the regional scale,and the forces that underlie them.

Reinforced concrete（RC） buildings in Nepal are constructed with RC frames and masonry infill panels. These structures exhibit a highly non-linear inelastic behavior resulting from the interaction between the panels and frames. This paper presents an extensive case study of existing RC buildings in Nepal. Non-linear analyses were performed on structural models of the buildings considered as a bare frame and with masonry infill, in order to evaluate the influence of infill walls on the failure mechanisms. Five three-storey buildings with different structural configurations and detailing were selected. The effect of masonry infill panels on structural response was delineated by comparing the bare-framed response with the infill response. seismic performance is evaluated with regard to global strength, stiffness, energy dissipation, inter-storey drift, and total deflection of the structure. A parametric analysis of structures with masonry infill is also performed. For this, the influence of different material properties is studied, namely diagonal compressive stress, modulus of elasticity and tensile stress of masonry infill panels. study results show that masonry infill increases the global strength and stiffness of the structures; it decreases the inter-storey drift and hence the total displacement of the structure. The results quantify the influence of the infill panels on structural response and, in particular, the effect of the diagonal compressive strength of the masonry wall.

It is remarkable,the recent advances concerning the development of numerical modeling frameworks to simulate the infill panels'seismic ***,there is a lack of experimental data of their mechanical properties,which are of full importance to calibrate the numerical *** primary objective of this paper is to present an extensive experimental campaign of mechanical characterization tests of infill masonry walls made with three different types of masonry units:lightweight vertical hollow concrete blocks and hollow clay *** different types of experimental tests were carried out,namely:compression strength tests,diagonal tensile strength tests,and flexural strength tests parallel and perpendicular to the horizontal bed joints.A total amount of 80 tests were carried out and are reported in the present *** second objective of this study was to compare the mechanical properties of as-built and existing infill *** results presented and discussed herein,will be in terms of strain-stress curves and damages observed within the *** was observed a fragile behavior in the panels made with hollow clay horizontal bricks,without propagation of *** plaster increased the flexural strength by 57%.

The teaching–learning-based optimisation (TLBO) algorithm is a population-based metaheuristic inspired on the teaching–learning process observed in a classroom. It has been successfully used in a wide range of applications. In this study, the authors present a variant version of TLBO. In the proposed version, different weights are assigned to students during the student phase, with higher weights being assigned to students with better solutions. Three different approaches to assign weights are investigated. Numerical experiments with benchmark instances of the flow-shop and the job-shop scheduling problems are carried out to investigate the performance of the proposed approaches. They compare the proposed approaches with the original TLBO algorithm and with two variants of TLBOs proposed in the literature in terms of solution quality, convergence speed and simulation time. The results obtained by the application of a Friedman statistical test showed that the proposed approaches outperformed the original version of TLBO in terms of convergence, with no significant losses in the average makespan. The additional simulation time required by the proposed approaches is small. The best performance was achieved with the approach of assigning a fixed weight to half the students with the best solutions and assigning zero to other students.

This paper presents a new Long-range generalized predictive controller in the synchronous reference frame for a wind energy system doubly-fed induction generator based. This controller uses the state space equations that consider the rotor current and voltage as state and control variables, to execute the predictive control action. Therefore, the model of the plant must be transformed into two discrete transference functions, by means of an auto-regressive moving average model, in order to attain a discrete and decoupled controller, which makes it possible to treat it as two independent single-input single-output systems instead of a magnetic coupled multiple-input multiple-output system. For achieving that, a direct power control strategy is used, based on the past and future rotor currents and voltages estimation. The algorithm evaluates the rotor current predictors for a defined prediction horizon and computes the new rotor voltages that must be injected to controlling the stator active and reactive powers. To evaluate the controller performance, some simulations were made using Matlab/simulink. Experimental tests were carried out with a small-scale prototype assuming normal operating conditions with constant and variable wind speed profiles. Finally, some conclusions respect to the dynamic performance of this new controller are summarized.

The Gurupi Belt(together with the são Luís cratonic fragment),in north-northeastern Brazil,has been described in previous studies that used extensive field geology,structural analysis,airborne geophysics,zircon U–Pb dating,and whole-rock sm–Nd isotope and geochemical data as a polyphase orogenic belt,with the Rhyacian being the main period of crust *** was related to a 2240 Ma to 2140 Ma accretionary processes that produced juvenile crust,which has subsequently been reworked during a collisional event at 2100±20 Ma,with little evidence of Archean *** this study,we use Lu–Hf isotopic data in zircon from granitoids(including gneiss)of variable magmatic series,and amphibolite to improve the knowledge of this scenario,and investigate additional evidence of recycling of Archean ***-collisional high Ba-sr and ferroan granitoids and amphibolite formed in island arc(2180–2145 Ma),show only zircons with suprachondriticεHf values(ca.+1 to+8)indicating the large predominance of juvenile *** 10%of the data show slightly negativeεHf values(0 to-4),which have been observed in granodiorite-gneiss formed in continental arc(2170–2140 Ma),and in strongly peraluminous collisional granites(2125–2070 Ma),indicating the rework of older Paleoproterozoic to Archean components(Hf_(TDM)=2.11–3.69 Ga).A two-component mixing model using both Hf and published Nd isotope data are in line with this interpretation and indicate more than 90%of juvenile material,and less influence of Archean *** with other Rhyacian terranes that are interpreted to have been close to Gurupi in a pre-Columbia configuration(ca.2.0 Ga),our results differ from those of sEGuiana shield,which show strong influence of Archean protoliths,and are very similar to those of the central-eastern portion of the Baoulé-Mossi Domain of the West African Craton,which has also been formed largely by juvenile magmas in an accretionary-collisional orogen.

Urban barriers are often a consequence of the unplanned expansion of transport infrastructures,housing growth nearby existing transport infrastructures,and the vehicular traffic *** process,also known as“community severance”,is a problem that affects the travel patterns of the population and causes negative impacts to adjacent communities,but it is not easy to *** an alternative to the costly technologies and restricted-access data sometimes used to analyze urban barriers,we propose an analytical approach that assesses community severance levels by classifying the quality of Pedestrian Crossings on Urban streets(the PeCUs index).Additionally,the approach is used to identify possible inequities nearby the different classification groups regarding demographic *** used the chi-square(χ^(2))test of independence and the standardized Pearson residuals to indicate deficits and excesses of residents regarding the demographic characteristics studied surrounding the urban *** found the following evidences of associations:residents with low-income or those aged up to 19 tend to live close to the worst crossings,whereas residents with permanent mobility constraints or the elderly tend to live near the crossings with the best ***,the study shows that the assessment of community severance by the analysis of the PeCUs index is ***,it reveals that the distribution of residents surrounding the distinct classes of quality of crossings is equitable for vulnerable social groups,except for low-income or young residents.
