Introduction: Tetanus portals of entry are numerous. Amongst these, the carerelated portals of entry are rarely reported. The aim of the study was to describe the epidemiological, clinical and outcome aspects and identify the factors associated with death from care-related tetanus. Patients and Methods: This is a retrospective study of descriptive and analytical purposes. Data were collected from the medical records of patients admitted to the Infectious and Tropical Diseases Department of the National University Hospital Center (CHNU) of Fann in Dakar for care-related tetanus during the period ranging from 1 January 2009 to 31 December 2016. Care-related tetanus was defined as any case of tetanus occurring after a surgical procedure, including circumcisions performed even outside a health facility. Results: In eight years, 50 cases of care-related tetanus were recorded. Care-related tetanus accounted for 6.7% of hospitalized tetanus cases. The mean age of patients was 21 ± 22 years, with a male predominance (sex ratio: 6.14). The procedure had been performed in most cases, either in a health facility in 22 patients (44%) or at home in 16 patients (32%), and occurred after circumcision. In 62% of cases the portal of entry was urological, followed by orthopedic surgery (14%) and visceral surgery (10%). The procedures performed were dominated by circumcision (31 cases), limb amputation (3 cases) and inguinal hernia repair (2 cases). Tetanus was immediately generalized on admission in all patients. Eighty-four percent (84%) of patients were admitted with Mollaret stage II. Cardiovascular (11 cases), infectious (10 cases) and respiratory (9 cases) complications were the most frequent. The hospital case fatality rate was 24%. BACKGROUND Tuberculosis(TB)remains one of the highest Asia’s health *** TB in diabetes mellitus(DM)and hypothyroidism patients is a rare case of extrapulmonary ***,there is a lack of therapeutic guidelines to treat spondylitis TB,particularly with type 2 DM(T2DM)and hypothyroidism as *** we present a case of spondylitis TB with T2DM and hypothyroidism in a relatively young patient and its therapeutic *** SUMMARY We report the case of a 35-year-old male patient from Surabaya,*** on anamnesis,physical examination,and magnetic resonance imaging,the patient has been categorized in stage II of spondylitis TB with grade 1 ***,the patient also had a high HbA1c level,high thyroid stimulating hormone,and low free T_(4)(FT_(4)),which indicated T2DM and hypothyroidism.A granulomatous process was observed in the histopathological *** antituberculosis drugs isoniazid and rifampicin were *** addition,insulin,empagliflozin,and linagliptin were given to control hyperglycemia conditions,and also levothyroxine to control *** The outcome was *** patient was able to do daily activities without pain and maintained normal glycemic and thyroid *** such cases,we recommend the treatment of spondylitis TB by spinal surgery,together with T2DM and hypothyroidism therapies,to improve the patients’*** early and non-invasive diagnoses and therapy are necessary.

随着全球化的不断深入,口译,作为沟通的桥梁在加强各国之间交流方面的作用日益凸显。当今各国的社会交流不仅越来越频繁,而且交流领域在不断扩大。因此对口译译员的要求越来越高,不仅要掌握好两种语言,而且还要求译员在语言之外的各方面能够表现突出。学术界已有诸多文章研究语言和非语言在口译中的影响,然而它们关注的只是某一个领域的一部分如听力能力、脱壳问题、译前准备等领域,而较少集中在口译的各个方面,尤其是非语言领域。而口译是有重要部分组成,所以全面研究口译中的非语言领域也具有重要意义。本论文是关于非语言的全面性,都是非语言当中最为重要的部分组成,也是译者在口译中需要留意的地方。本文涉及了导致非语言问题的几种重要因素,选取了APEC模拟会议中的案例,分析了导致非语言问题的可控制和不可控制因素,也分析了面对问题的策略。最后本文得出的结论是非语言对口译极其重要,合理地面对与处理非语言问题可以有效提高口译质量,也可以对每一个人在生活中带来很大的意义。

汉语复谓结构是特殊的语法结构。实际上汉语复谓结构的范围很大,但是主要是以连谓式和兼语式为主。现在语法界对复谓结构的界定标准还不统一。如果按照严格的界定标准来划分的话,大部分的复谓结构在印尼语的语法中都不存在。但是如果按照比较宽松的标准来划分的话,在印尼语的语法中还是存在着一部分的复谓结构的。这篇论文将对复谓结构在汉语和印尼语中按不同标准划分的情况进行比较详细的比较与分析。另外还有一些或者是不属于复谓结构,或者是还很难确定的,在这里不再具体分析。本论文共分三章。每章的主要内容如下:1.第一章汉语和印尼语复谓结构界说:说明汉语和印尼语复谓结构的分析方法。2.第二章汉语和印尼语连谓式比较:连谓式一共可以分两大类:第一类是A类连谓式,即是由动词与动词连用的连谓式,可分成三个部分:第一部分,汉语和印尼语中都存在的A类连谓式,可以分成三小类:(1)前一个谓语是后一个谓语的方式,手段,或情态;(2)后一个谓语表示前一个动作的目的;(3)前一个谓语是非动作动词“有/没有”,后一个谓语表示前一个动作的目的。第二部分,在印尼语中用连谓式表达,而在汉语中不属于连谓式的,可分为四小类:(1)后一个动作是表示前一个动作的原因;(2)后一个谓语表示前一个谓语活动,行为或性状的结果或程度;(3)前后动词是平行关系,或是表示动作,行为在时间上几乎是同时发生的或者后者是前者的一种加注,补充说明;(4)少数连谓式。第三部分,在汉语中用连谓式来表达,而在印尼语中不用连谓式来表达的,可分成两小类:(1)前后动词表示连续发生的动作;(2)前后两个动作行为从正反两个方面说明主语。第二类是B类连谓式,即是由动词与形容词连用的连谓式,可以分成两小类:第一、形容词在前,可分成两类:(1)前后两个动作有目的关系;(2)前后两个动作没有目的关系。第二、形容词在后,可分成两小类:(1)类似于连动式的连谓式;(2)形容词在后的连谓式。3.第三章兼语式:汉语和印尼语的兼语式比较,可以分成两大部分:第一部分,汉语和印尼语都存在的兼语式,可分成四小类:(1)表示使令性的,可控制的动作行为;(2)兼语前的动词表示无法控制的动作行为;(3)兼语前的动词表示的是感情活动,并且兼语前后两个部分表示非因果关系;(4)含“以···为”,“拿···当/做”的。第二部分,在汉语里用兼语式来表达,而在印尼语中不用兼语式来表达,可分成三小类:(1)兼语前的动词表示感情活动,并且兼语前后两个部分表示因果关系;(2)“有”字接后兼语;(3)含有非动词“有,没有”的非主谓句的;(4)含“是”的兼语式。本论文系统总结了汉印复谓结构的联系和差异。本论文的研究目的是为了对学印尼语的中国学生和学习汉语的印尼语学生能更了解复谓结构并且希望能对汉语和印尼语的学习、教学以及翻译工作有所帮助。同时也希望对印尼学生学习汉语时有一定的参考作用,对汉语复谓结构研究也有一定的参考意义。

Solvent-solvent fractionations of Combretum erythrophyllum(Burch.) leave extract: Studies of their antibacterial, antifungal, antioxidant and cytotoxicity potentials

Objective: To evaluate the biological activities of Combretum erythrophyllum(C. erythrophyllum) leaf extracts against infectious diseases' pathogenesis and their cytotoxicity potentials. Methods: Powdered leaf material(300 g) of C. erythrophyllum was extracted(1:10 w/v) using acetone to obtain the crude extract. Liquid-liquid fractionation was performed on the crude acetone extract(30 g) using solvents of different polarity. The bioautographic method was used to detect the inhibition of bacterial and fungal growth by active compounds present in the crude and fractions. The extracts were then tested on bacterial strains: Staphylococcus aureus, Enterococcus faecalis, Escherichia coli, Pseudomonas aeruginosa; fungal strains: Candida albicans(C. albicans), Cryptococcus neoformans, and Aspergillus fumigatus, by microtitre dilution method for MIC determination. Results: The extracts MIC values ranged between 0.08–2.50 mg/m L against the tested pathogens. Water fraction had the highest activity against bacteria strains, while the fungal assay revealed crude acetone extract and ethyl acetate fraction to be active against C. albicans(1.25 mg/m L), dichloromethane extract against C. albicans and Aspergillus fumigatus(0.16 mg/m L). Extract fractions showed a good antioxidant activity via DPPH, ABTS and hydroxyl radical scavenging assays, in the order: ethyl acetate > water > acetone > dichloromethane > hexane. The toxicity level of crude extract and fractions evaluated in Vero monkey kidney cells ranged from 34–223 μg/m L, while doxorubicin(IC_(50) = 7.19 μg/m L) served as the positive control. Conclusions: It can be concluded that the extracts of C. erythrophyllum are safe for medicinal use in folk medicine for treating infectious and stress related diseases.

Neighborhood deprivation and availability of culturally specific African-American and Latino fruits and vegetables in five small central Illinois cities

Introduction: Although individual-level dietary behavior among racial/ethnic minority groups in the US is influenced by cultural food preferences and socioeconomic position, few studies of the food store environment have simultaneously examined both factors. The objective of this cross-sectional study was to investigate the availability of culturally specific fruits and vegetables for African Americans and Latinos by levels of neighborhood deprivation. The 5 small central Illinois cities selected for the study have exhibited increasing numbers of both racial/ ethnic groups in the last decade. Methods: A validated audit tool was used to survey 118 food stores in 2008. Census 2000 block group data was used to create a neighborhood deprivation index (categorized as low, medium, and high) based on socioeconomic characteristics using principal component analysis. Statistical analyses were performed in SPSS version 17.0 to determine whether the availability of culturally specific fruits and vegetables (n = 31) varied by neighborhood levels of deprivation and store type. Results: Fewer than 50% of neighborhoods carried culturally specific fruits and vegetables, with the lowest availability found in low deprivation neighborhoods (p < 0.05). Culturally specific fruits and vegetables were most often found in neighborhoods with medium levels of deprivation, and in grocery stores (p < 0.05). Latino fruits and vegetables were less likely to be found across neighborhoods or in stores, compared to African-American fruits and vegetables. Conclusions: The limited availability of culturally specific fruits and vegetables for African Americans and Latinos highlights potential environmental challenges with adherence to daily dietary guidelines for fruit and vegetable consumption in these groups.

The World Health Organization defines low birth weight (LBW) as a new born having a weight of less than 2,500 g at birth. Low birth weight is one of the major determinants of perinatal survival, infant morbidity and mortality as well as the risk of developmental disabilities and illnesses in future lives. WHO estimates that about 30 million low birth weight babies are born annually (23.4% of all births) and they often face short and long term health consequences. Whereas the global prevalence of LBW has slightly declined, the rate in many developing countries is still quite high. In Uganda, low birth weight among teenage mothers is a problem. Our study aimed to estimate the prevalence of and identify the factors associated with low birth weight among teenage mothers in New Mulago hospital. We conducted an analytical cross sectional study among teenage mothers who delivered from new Mulago Hospital Complex labour suite from August 2013 to August 2014. Trained interviewers, administered pre-tested questionnaires to consecutive mothers to obtain information on their socio-demographic characteristics, obstetric history and child factors. Odds ratios and -values were calculated to determine the relationship between independent and dependent variables. We also used descriptive statistics for the quantitative data. A total of 357 teenage mothers were enrolled on the study. Their mean age was 18 years (Range 13-19), majority, 98.4% aged 15-19 years. The prevalence of LBW was 25.5%. Pre-term delivery (OR = 3.3032 = 0.0001) and multiple pregnancies (OR = 0.165 = 0.039) were associated with LBW. Malaria, young maternal age and ANC attendance were not associated with LBW. Child factors such as birth order, congenital anomalies and sex of the baby were also not associated with LBW. The prevalence of LBW is high among teenage mothers, pre-term delivery and multiple pregnancies were associated factors with LBW. Health professional's need to address teenage maternal health. Healt
