This article investigates identical parallel machines scheduling with family setup times. The objective function being the weighted sum of completion times, the problem is known to be strongly NP-hard. We propose a constructive heuristic algorithm and three complementary lower bounds. Two of these bounds proceed by elimination of setup times or by distributing each of them to jobs of the corresponding family, while the third one is based on a lagrangian relaxation. The bounds and the heuristic are incorporated into a branch-and-bound algorithm. Experimental results obtained outperform those of the methods presented in previous works, in term of size of solved problems.

The purpose of this study is to select an appropriate commercial neutral cellulase enzyme for denim garments bio-polishing to achieve specific industrial goals. A full factorial experimental design was used to evaluate the effect of factors considered in the optimization of the bio-polishing process (fabric ID: x1, treatment time: x2, treatment temperature: x3, enzyme concentration: x4, storage time: x5, inactivation step: x6 and enzyme type: x7). Experiments were conducted using laboratory washing machine. Subjective evaluation was performed at a pilot and at an industrial scale. Tear, tensile strength and subjective evaluation concerning hand feel, fabric color, indigo dye pocket back staining and fuzziness extent were evaluated. Results showed that x6 and x7 had significant effects on the fabric tear and tensile strength loss. In the optimization, the great dependence between observed and predicted tear strength and tensile strength loss, the correlation coefficient of the models (R2 > 0.85) and the important value of F-ratio proved the validity of the models. Results showed that denim leg panels treated with the enzyme Lava-Cell NSZ presented a minimum loss of tear and tensile strength. A low-temperature and time enzymatic bio-polishing process was developed at industrial scale.

The 3rd generation partnership project (3GPP) has defined the protocols and codecs for implementing media streaming services over packet-switched 3G mobile networks. The specification is based on IETF RFCs on audio/video *** also adds new features to achieve better adaptation to the mobile network environment. In this paper, we propose an algorithm for handover detection and fast buffer refill that is based on the existing feedback and signaling mechanisms. The proposed algorithm refills the receiver buffer at a faster pace during a limited time frame after a hard handover is detected in order to achieve higher video quality.

The present study tested the sensitivity of Salaria basilisca to water-cadmium （Cd） contamination. For this purpose, liver somatic index （LSI）, Cd concentrations and the activities of antioxidant enzymes such as catalase （CAT）, superoxide dismutase （SOD） and glutathione peroxidase （GSH-Px） were measured in the liver of S. basilisca exposed to Cd-contaminated water （2 mg Cd/L as CdCl2） for 14 and 28 d. The results showed that the LSI decreased significantly after 14 and 28 d of Cd-exposure. Cd bioaccumulation in the liver resulted in an increasing uptake up to 42 μg/g dry weight after 28 d of exposure. Activities of CAT and SOD were significantly increased with increasing exposure time. A significant increase in GSH-Px activity, under Cd influence, was observed during 14-day exposure period （p 〈 0.0001）. However, a significant decrease （p 〈 0.05） in this activity with respect to control fish was registered after 28 d of Cd-exposure. These results showed that Cd accumulation in the liver of S. basilisca could induce oxidative stress as demonstrated by changes in the antioxidant enzyme activities. Results also emphasized that S. basilisca may considered as a sensitive species to Cd exposure.

To select a marine teleost fish which can be used as a bioindicator of cadmium （Cd） pollution in the Gulf of Gabes in Tunisia, Cd concentrations in liver and gill were compared in three benthic fish species including Salaria basilisca, Zosterisessor ophiocephalus and Solea vulgaris. Fish samples were collected from three selected sites in the Gulf of Gabes, with different degrees of Cd contamination： the industrialized coast of Sfax （S 1）, the coast of Douar Chatt （S2） and the coast of Luza （S3）. The results shows that Cd concentrations in both sediment and water collected from S1 were significantly higher （t9 〈 0.0001） than those from S2 and S3. For each species, Cd concentrations, in both liver and gill, showed the decreasing order： S 1 〉 S2 〉 S3. The highest concentration of Cd was detected in the liver of S. basilisca, and only S. basilisca showed bioaccumulation factors （BAF） greater than 1 in all studied sites. In S 1 and S2, BAF values respect the following order： S. basilisca 〉 Z. ophiocephalus 〉 S. vulgaris. These results of significant bioaccumulation of Cd, in terms of hepatic concentrations and bioaccumulation factors, indicated that S. basilisca can be used as bioindicator to evaluate the evolution of Cd pollution in the Gulf of Gabes.

In this paper, the authors aim at proving two existence results of fractional differential boundary value problems of the form(P_(a,b)){D~αu(x) + f(x, u(x)) = 0, x ∈(0, 1),u(0) = u(1) = 0, D^(α-3)u(0) = a, u(1) =-b,where 3 0 and f(x, t) = tφ(x, t), with φ(x, t) being a nonnegative continuous function in(0, 1)×[0, ∞) that is required to satisfy some suitable integrability condition. Using estimates on the Green's function and a perturbation argument, the authors prove the existence and uniqueness of a positive continuous solution u to problem(P_(a,b)), which behaves like the unique solution of the homogeneous problem corresponding to(P_(a,b)). Some examples are given to illustrate the existence results.

Three groups of female rats （n=6 per group） were exposed to 1 and 10 mg/L of sodium arsenate for 90 days. The antioxidant and peroxidation parameters in kidney and liver tissues were evaluated, also the fatty acid composition were determined. In liver the synthesis pathway of n-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids （PUFA） seemed to be more affected than the n-6 PUFA, while in kidney the n-6 pathway was more affected.

In this study,different samples of alkyd resins based on Citrullus colocynthis seed oil(CCSO)—which has a high content of linoleic acid—were prepared as a renewable raw ***(I),medium(II),and long(III)alkyd resins were synthesized using oil,glycerol,and phthalic anhydride(PA)in different *** mahaleb seed oil(PMSO),which contains conjugated linolenic acid,was blended with CCSO in different proportions to examine the effect of PMSO on the film properties of alkyd resins(IV and V).All synthesized resins were characterized by FTIR and 1H NMR spectroscopic *** resins were also cured by an epoxy resin and their film properties(pencil hardness,adhesion,gloss,and chemical resistance)were *** of these alkyds reveals that CCSO can be used as a new potential raw material for coating applications.

Transcriptomic analysis of grapevine in response to ABA application reveals its diverse regulations during cold acclimation and deacclimation

Abscisic acid(ABA)plays crucial regulatory roles in cold acclimation and deacclimation of grapevine,making it a potential tool to be utilized in vineyards for the acquisition of preferred phenotypes in winter and *** understand the function of ABA,we conducted experiments during cold acclimation and deacclimation and evaluated the impact of exogenous ABA on the grapevine ***-seq data were collected periodically hours or days after ABA *** data were analyzed using principal component analysis(PCA),hierarchical clustering,unsupervised weighed gene co-expression network analysis(WGCNA),contrast-based differentially expressed genes(DEGs)identification and pre-ranked gene set enrichment analysis(GSEA).Our results suggest that ABA functions differently during cold acclimation and deacclimation by selectively regulating key pathways including auxin/indole acetic acid(IAA)metabolism,galactose metabolism and ribosome *** also identified the activation of several apparent negative feedback systems that regulated ABA-induced transcriptomic changes,suggesting the existence of a balancing system in response to excessive *** balancing systems potentially eliminates the long-term negative effect on grapevine growing from using ABA in the *** findings advance our understanding about the regulation of grapevine physiology during dormancy and supports the potential of applying ABA as a cultural practice to mitigate cold injury in winter and spring.
