Met.ods: t.e localisat.on of adrenomedullin was examined by imm unohist.chemist.y, and adrenomedullin mRNA expression was measured by quant.t.t. ve polymerase chain react.on. Result.: Adrenomedullin immunoreact.vit. was prefe rent.ally localised in macrophages, int.mai smoot. muscle cells, and proliferat. d microvessels. t.e mean number of adrenomedullin posit.ve cells in five high po wer fields(x 400) per specimen was higher in pat.ent. wit. UAP t.an in t.ose wit.h SAP (mean (SEM), 110(13) v 76 (7); pt.e rat.o of adrenomedullin p osit.ve t. t.t.l cells was higher in pat.ent. wit. UAP (43.0 (2.2)%v 34.2 (2.0) %; pt.e plaque of pat.ent. w it. UAP t.an in t.ose wit. SAP (60.4 (16.9)%v 9.7 (3.3)%; pt.e findings suggest.t.at.adrenomedullin is involved in t.e development.of at.herosclerosis and plaque inst.bilit. in human coronary art.ries, in an aut.crine or paracrine manner.

Aims: t.e present.st.dy invest.gat.s t.e expression and localizat.on of int.rleukin(IL)-10, an import.nt.ant.-inflammat.ry cyt.kine, in at.erect.my specimens from pat.ent. wit. st.ble and unst.ble angina. Met.ods and result.: t.ent.-t.o pat.ent. wit. st.ble angina and 21 wit. unst.ble angina who underwent.direct.onal coronary at.erect.my for de novo lesions were st.died. t.e at.erect.my specimens were morphologically assessed and immunohist.chemically st.ined wit. ant.bodies for IL-10, macrophages, smoot.muscle cells, and endot.elial cells. t.e localizat.on and immunoposit.ve areas were evaluat.d using an image analysing syst.m. Immunoreact.vit. for IL-10 was det.ct.d in coronary plaques, especially in macrophages. Immunoposit.ve areas of macrophages and IL-10, as well as t.e incidence of t.rombus format.on, were significant.y great.r in specimens from pat.ent. wit. unst.ble angina t.an in t.ose from pat.ent. wit. st.ble angina(macrophages, Pt.rombus format.on, Pt.vely). Even aft.r adjust.ent. IL-10 expression and t.e incidence of t.rombus format.on were significant.y great.r in t.e unst.ble angina group(Pt.e immunoreact.vit.es for smoot. muscle cells and endot.elial cells did not.differ bet.een t.e t.o groups. t.e mont.ly concent.at.ons of NO2, NOx, SO2 and O3 measured by a passive sampler from February 2003 t. January 2004 showed t.at.t.e air pollut.on during t.e wint.r season in Kat.mandu valley was higher t.an t.e summer season. t.e O3 level was found t.e highest.during April, May and June due t. st.ong radiat.on. t.e hourly concent.at.ons of NO2, NOx, O3 and suspended part.culat. mat.er（SPM） were also measured by aut.mat.c inst.ument. on December 2003. t.mperat.re at.t.e height.of 60 m and 400 m at.Raniban Mount.in in t.e nort.west.of Kat.mandu valley was measured on February 2001 in t.e wint.r season and t.e average pot.nt.al t.mperat.re gradient.was est.mat.d from observed t.mperat.re. Wind speed was also measured at.t.e depart.ent.of hydrology, airport.sect.on, from 18 February t. 6 March 2001. It.was found t.at.t.e st.ble layer and t.e calm condit.on in t.e at.osphere st.ongly affect.d t.e appearance of t.e maximum concent.at.ons of NO2 and SPM in t.e morning, and t.at.t.e unst.ble layer and t.e windy condit.on in t.e at.osphere was considerably relevant.t. t.e decrease of air pollut.on concent.at.ons at.dayt.me. t.e emission amount. of NOx, HCs and t.t.l suspended part.cle（t.P） from t.ansport.sect.r in 2003 were est.mat.d from t.e increasing rat. of vehicles on t.e basis of t.e emission amount. in 1993 t. be 3751 t.a, 30570 t.a and 1317 t.a, respect.vely. t.e diurnal concent.at.ons in 2003 calculat.d by t.e t.o-layers box model reproduced t.e charact.rist.cs of air pollut.on in Kat.mandu valley such as t.e maximum value of O3 and it. t.me, t.e maximum value of NO in t.e morning, and t.e decrease of NO and NO2 at.dayt.me. t.e comparison wit. t.e concent.at.ons in 1993 calculat.d suggest.d t.at.t.e main cause of air pollut.on was t.e emission from t.ansport.sect.r.

AIM: t. assess t.e clinical feat.res of hepat.duodenal lymph node(HDLN) met.st.sis and t. clarify t.e opt.mal indicat.on of HDLN ***: We invest.gat.d a t.t.l of 276 pat.ent. who underwent.gast.ect.my wit. ext.nded lymphadenect.my,including HDLN dissect.on,for gast.ic cancer bet.een 1999 and 2012. Of t.ese,26 pat.ent.(9.4%) had HDLN met.st.sis. First.we invest.gat.d t.e clinicopat.ological charact.rist.cs,t.eir perioperat.ve clinical out.omes,such as post.perat.ve complicat.ons,and prognost.c out.omes bet.een pat.ent. wit. and wit.out.HDLN met.st.sis. Second,we det.ct.d t.e prognost.c fact.rs,part.cularly in pat.ent. wit. HDLN met.st.sis. t.ird,we assessed t.e t.erapeut.c value of HDLN dissect.on t. det.rmine it. opt.mal ***: t.e five-year overall survival rat. of t.e pat.ent. wit. HDLN met.st.sis was 29%. Microfold (M) cells are a kind of int.st.nal epit.elial cell in t.e follicle-associat.d epit.elium (FAE) of Peyer’s pat.hes. t.ey can t.ansport.ant.gens and microorganisms t. lymphoid t.ssues. Bovine spongiform encephalopat.y (BSE) is a fat.l neurodegenerat.ve disorder in cat.le. It.is linked t. variant.Creut.feldt.Jakob disease in humans. Alt.ough it.is t.ought.t.at.M cells t.ansport.t.e BSE agent. t.e exact.mechanism by which it.crosses t.e int.st.nal barrier is not.clear. We have bovine int.st.nal epit.elial cell line (BIE cells), which can different.at. int. t.e M cell t.pe in vit.o aft.r st.mulat.on, and which is able t. t.ansport.t.e BSE agent. We show here t.at.M cells are able t. incorporat. large numbers of PrP coat.d magnet.c part.cles int. int.acellular vesicles, which we collect.d. t.e result. of 2-DE show a specific prot.in associat.d wit. t.e PrP-coat.d part.cles, compared wit. non-coat.d part.cles. t.is prot.in was ident.fied as aldolase A, a glycolyt.c pat.way enzyme, using LC-MS/MS analysis. Aldolase A was synt.esized and secret.d by BIE cells, and increased during M cell different.at.on. In t.e villi of t.e bovine int.st.ne, aldolase A was det.ct.d on t.e surface of t.e epit.elium and in t.e mucus droplet.of goblet.cells. In t.e FAE of bovine jejunal and ileal Peyer’s pat.hes, aldolase A was localized on t.e surface and t.e apical part.of t.e M cells. t.e binding of rbPrP t. aldolase A was clearly det.ct.d and inhibit.d by pre-t.eat.ent.of ant.-aldolase A ant.body. Aldolase A was co-st.ined wit. incorporat.d PrPSc in M-BIE cells. t.ese result. suggest.t.at.bovine M cells and goblet.cells synt.esize aldolase A, and t.at.aldolase A may have t.e abilit. t. bind PrP and associat. wit. PrP in cellular vesicles. t.erefore, aldolase A-posit.ve M cells may play a key role in t.e invasion of BSE int. t.e body.
