Ascites and alpha-fetoprotein improve prognostic performance of Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer staging

AIM: To assess how ascites and alpha-fetoprotein(AFP) added to the Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer(BCLC) staging predict hepatocellular carcinoma ***: The presence of underlying cirrhosis, ascites and encephalopathy, Child-Turcotte-Pugh(CTP) score, the number of nodules, and the maximum diameter of the largest nodule were determined at diagnosis for 1060 patients with hepatocellular carcinoma at a tertiary referral center for liver disease in Egypt. Demographic information, etiology of liver disease, and biochemical data(including serum bilirubin, albumin, international normalized ratio, alanine and aspartate aminotransferases, and AFP) were evaluated. Staging of the tumor was determined at the time of diagnosis using the BCLC staging system; 496 patients were stage A and 564 patients were stage B. Patients with mild ascites on initial ultrasound, computed tomography, or clinical examination, and who had a CTP score ≤ 9 were included in this analysis. all patients received therapy according to the recommended treatment based on the BCLC stage, and were monitored from the time of diagnosis to the date of death or date of data collection. The effect of the presence of ascites and AFP level on survival was ***:At the time the data were censored,123/496(24.8%)and 218/564(38.6%)patients with BCLC stages A and B,respectively,had *** mean survival of the BCLC A and B patients during a three-year follow-up period was 31 mo[95%confidence interval(95%CI):29.7-32.3]and 22.7mo(95%CI:20.7-24.8),*** presenceof ascites,multiple focal lesions,large tumor size,AFP level and CTP score were independent predictors of survival for the included patients on multivariate analysis(Pal in the presence of ascites was shorter if AFP was≥200 ng/m L(19 mo vs 24 mo),and in the absence of ascites,patients with AFP≥200 ng/m L had a shorter survival(28mo

In the present era,a very huge volume of data is being stored in online and offline *** houses,research,medical as well as healthcare organizations,and academic institutions store data in databases and their subsequent retrievals are performed for further *** the required data from a given database within the minimum possible time is one of the key factors in achieving the best possible performance of any computer-based *** the data is already sorted,finding or searching is comparatively *** real-life scenarios,the data collected from different sources may not be in sorted *** algorithms are required to arrange the data in some order in the least possible *** this paper,I propose an intelligent approach towards designing a smart variant of the bubble sort algorithm.I call it Smart Bubble sort that exhibits dynamic footprint:The capability of adapting itself from the average-case to the best-case *** is an in-place sorting algorithm and its best-case time complexity isΩ(n).It is linear and better than bubble sort,selection sort,and merge *** averagecase and worst-case analyses,the complexity estimates are based on its static footprint *** complexity in worst-case is O(n2)and in average-case isΘ(n^(2)).Smart Bubble sort is capable of adapting itself to the best-case scenario from the average-case scenario at any subsequent stages due to its dynamic and intelligent *** Smart Bubble sort outperforms bubble sort,selection sort,and merge sort in the best-case scenario whereas it outperforms bubble sort in the average-case scenario.

Perception and manipulation tasks for robotic manipulators involving highly-cluttered objects have become increasingly indemand for achieving a more efficient problem solving method in modern industrial ***,most of the available methods for performing such cluttered tasks failed in terms of performance,mainly due to inability to adapt to the change of the environment and the handled ***,we propose a new,near real-time approach to suction-based grasp point estimation in a highly cluttered environment by employing an affordance-based *** to the state-of-the-art,our proposed method offers two distinctive ***,we use a modified deep neural network backbone for the input of the semantic segmentation,to classify pixel elements of the input red,green,blue and depth(RGBD)channel image which is then used to produce an affordance map,a pixel-wise probability map representing the probability of a successful grasping action in those particular pixel ***,we incorporate a high speed semantic segmentation to the system,which makes our solution have a lower computational *** approach does not need to have any prior knowledge or models of the objects since it removes the step of pose estimation and object recognition entirely compared to most of the current approaches and uses an assumption to grasp first then recognize later,which makes it possible to have an object-agnostic *** system was designed to be used for household objects,but it can be easily extended to any kind of objects provided that the right dataset is used for training the *** results show the benefit of our approach which achieves a precision of 88.83%,compared to the 83.4%precision of the current state-of-the-art.

In recent years bioethanol fuels derived from agricultural biomass resources or waste have been considered the cleanest liquid fuel alternative to fossil *** consumption is expected to reach 11.2 billion gallons by *** sorghum,grown in the Southeast and Midwest states in US,contains 14%-20%fermentable sugar and is an ideal feedstock,owing to its ease of fermentation by *** objectives of this research were to perform kinetic studies to determine the factors that may affect the rates of sugar consumption and ethanol production during fermentation of two varieties of sweet sorghum juice,Variety 1(V-1)and Variety 2(V-2),and to optimize the fermentation efficiency and ethanol production by varying strategies to process the juice before *** parameters of fermentation provide total sugar consumption rate of 3.4 g/(L·h)for V-1 juice and 2.2 g/(L·h)for V-2 juice,with ethanol production rates of 1.8 g/(L·h)for V-1 juice and 1.6 g/(L·h)for V-2 *** ethanol production(V/V)was 8.5%for V-1 and 9.2%for V-2;ethanol yield was 0.065 g of ethanol/g of V-1 juice and 0.072 g ethanol/g of V-2 *** though V-2 has a higher ethanol yield than V-1,V-1 has faster consumption and production rates due to its lower initial glucose and sucrose proportions in the juice,relative to *** efficiency is greater than 90%for frozen,autoclaved juice and 25%sugar content *** lowest fermentation efficiency(79%)was for 30%sugar-content *** results can be used to optimize processing conditions of sweet sorghum juice during fermentation.

A field experiment was conducted in 2009 and 2010 growing seasons, to study the effect of foliar application of iron-chelated ＂Fe-EDTA＂ at concentration 0, 100 and 200 mg/L on the seasonal dynamic of mineral composition of N, P, K, Fe and Zn in petioles and berries of Halwani Lebanon and Kamali grape cultivars, grown on a calcareous soil in Mosul region, Iraq. The results revealed that the foliar application of 200 mg Fe/L caused a significant increase of N, P, K, Fe and Zn concentrations in petioles and berries compared with the control for both seasons. Additionally, the N, P, K, Fe and Zn concentration in petioles were high at the beginning of the growth season, whereas, decrease towards in the end of the growth season in both cultivars and seasons. While the N, P, K, Fe and Zn in berry content was increased towards from berry set to veraison and ripening stage in both cultivars and seasons. So there are various element contents in the cultivars.

The size,shape,and physical characteristics of the human skull are distinct when considering individual *** physical anthropology,the accurate management of skull collections is crucial for storing and maintaining collections in a cost-effective *** example,labeling skulls inaccurately or attaching printed labels to skulls can affect the authenticity of *** the multiple issues associated with the manual identification of skulls,we propose an automatic human skull classification approach that uses a support vector machine and different feature extraction methods such as gray-level co-occurrence matrix features,Gabor features,fractal features,discrete wavelet transforms,and combinations of *** underlying facial bone exhibits unique characteristics essential to the face’s physical structure that could be exploited for ***,we developed an automatic recognition method to classify human skulls for consistent identification compared with traditional classification *** our proposed approach,we were able to achieve an accuracy of 92.3–99.5%in the classification of human skulls with mandibles and an accuracy of 91.4–99.9%in the classification of human skills without *** study represents a step forward in the construction of an effective automatic human skull identification system with a classification process that achieves satisfactory performance for a limited dataset of skull images.

本文旨在分析1998-2010年期间析印度尼西亚对其他东南亚国家军事力量发展的对策。印度尼西亚的对策被放在了其防卫战略的层面上来考虑的。作者进行了大量案例研究设计。通过分析各种文献,书籍,期刊和其他资料以及对国防部门的五位专家的访谈,作者认为在1998-2010年期间印尼的防卫策略(陆军、海军和空军)是为应对东南亚地区军事力量的快速发展,其目的是要获得比建设一支进攻性的部队更强大的威慑力量。这一战略是鉴于东南亚国家有可能威胁印度尼西亚的主权和安全而制定的。同时,印度尼西亚打造一流军事实力的能力非常有限。有限的国防支出和政治支持以及该地区战略环境的脆弱导致了印度尼西亚防卫政策发展不能达到足够的威慑水平,也没有达到“战略稳定”的目标。印度尼西亚受到外国武器禁运问题的困扰,并且国内关于武器研发的相关制度也有很大弊端。本文还就印度尼西亚未来的防卫态势提出了一些建议,特别是在东南亚安全困境的背景下。
