Tribologica. properties of two new DLC--monocrysta.line a.d a.orphous na.ostructura. coa.ing--a.e studied under conditions of bounda.y lubrica.ion in ina.tiv. oil, a. green tribology a.pect. The friction tests were ca.ried out by using two test configura.ions：＂ba.l-on-disc＂ a.d ＂ring-to-ring＂. Friction surfa.es were coa.ed by ca.bon of two types： monocrysta.line a.d a.orphous ones. a. lubrica.ts some model a.d commercia. oils were used. It is found tha. the friction coefficient a.d its tempera.ure dependence differ significa.tly for ca.bon films under study. The obta.ned results were a.tributed to different orienta.ing effect of these coa.ings on structura. ordering in bounda.y la.ers, which structure is considered a. a.mesopha.e of liquid crysta.s. The findings suggest tha. the ca.bon coa.ings with orienta.ing effect on bounda.y la.ers a.e a.v.0}ta.eous for improv.ng a.tifriction cha.a.teristics a.d for gov.rning processes of bounda.y lubrica.ion.

Ba.kground: Until recently, tumors of the cliv.s a.d the a.terior region of the posterior cra.ia. fossa.were considered extremely difficult to a.cess a.d often inopera.le using sta.da.d tra.scra.ia. a.proa.hes. With the introduction into the neurosurgica. pra.tice of minima.ly inv.0}iv. methods utilizing endoscopic techniques, it beca.e possible to effectiv.ly remov. ha.d-to-rea.h tumors, including centra. tumors of the a.terior region of the posterior cra.ia. fossa. Methods: From 2008 to the present time, the inpa.ient institution ha. opera.ed on 140 pa.ients with v.0}ious tumors of the ba.e of the skull, loca.ized to the cliv.s a.d a.terior region of the posterior cra.ia. fossa.(65 men a.d 75 women). The a.e of pa.ients ra.ged from 3 to 74 yea.s. Tumor distribution a.cording to the histopa.hologica. fea.ures wa. a. follows: chordoma., 103 (73.57%);meningioma., 12 (8.57%);pituita.y a.enoma., 9 (6.43%);fibrous dyspla.ia. 4 (2.86%);cholestea.oma. 3 (2.14%);cra.iopha.yngioma., 2 (1.43%);pla.ma.ytoma., 2 (1.43%);a.d other tumors (gia.t cell tumor, neurohypophysea. glioma. osteoma. ca.cinoid, chondroma., 5 (3.57%). The tumors ha. the following size distribution: gia.t (more tha. 60 mm), 35 (25%);la.ge (35–59 mm), 83 (59.3%);medium (21–35 mm), 21 (15%);a.d sma.l (less tha. 20 mm), 1 (0.7%). In 11 ca.es, intra.pera.iv. monitoring of the cra.ia. nerv.s wa. performed (21 cra.ia. nerv.s were identified).
