Performing on-site measurements is one of the main challenges of current(bio)chemical *** tips,which are among the most common utilities in laboratories,can be useful and cheap elements for designing out-of-the-box innovative analytical ***,most of the analytical properties of these bioplatforms depend on the immobilization of the recognition element(e.g.,enzymes).In this context,we have recently designed a chimeric protein in which laccase PoxA1b from the fungus Pleurotus ostreatus has been genetically fused to the class I hydrophobin *** ability to self-assemble at hydrophobic-hydrophilic interfaces of hydrophobin,allows an easy laccase *** this work,the Vmh2-PoxA1b fusion protein was immobilized into common polypropylene micropipette tips to develop an innovative enzymatic bioplatform that can produce fast results in a simple *** proof of applicability,the platform was applied to the determination of caffeic acid by enzymatic oxidation and further electrochemical reduction of the product on a screen-printed electrode,achieving a limit of detection of 1.4-10^(-6) *** was then used for determining caffeic acid in tea samples.

An adequate balance between electrolytes and clear water is of paramount importance to maintaining physiologic *** imbalance and,in particular,hyponatremia is the most frequent electrolyte abnormality observed in hospitalized subjects,involving approximately one-fourth of *** changes occurring during liver cirrhosis predispose patients to an increased risk of sodium imbalance,and hypervolemic hyponatremia has been reported in nearly 50%of subjects with severe liver disease and *** vasodilatation,portal-systemic collaterals’opening and increased excretion of vasoactive modulators are all factors impairing clear water handling during liver *** concern,sodium imbalance has been consistently reported to be associated with increased risk of complications and reduced survival in liver disease *** the last decades clinical interest in sodium levels has been also extended in the field of liver *** that[Na+]in blood is an independent risk factor for in-list mortality led to the incorporation of sodium value in prognostic scores employed for transplant priority,such as model for end-stage liver disease-Na and *** the other hand,severe hyponatremic cirrhotic patients are frequently delisted by transplant centers due to the elevated risk of mortality after *** this review,we describe in detail the relationship between sodium imbalance and liver cirrhosis,focusing on its impact on peritransplant *** possible therapeutic approaches,in order to improve transplant outcome,are also discussed.

To evaluate the characteristics of the prescription of the proton pump inhibitor drugs (PPI) and the adherence to the indications of the guidelines regulating the reimbursement limitations set forth by the Italian Drug Agency. METHODSThirty general practitioners (GP) participated in the study, providing data on more than 40000 patients in total. The population was divided into non occasional users of PPI drugs (PPI users) and non-users (PPI non-users) based on evidence of a prescription of at least 3 packs of PPIs in the last 90 d before analysis. The data provided allowed an assessment of compliance with the requirements of eligibility for PPI reimbursement according to the Italian Drug Agency rules, in order to obtain subpopulations which complied or not with the rules. RESULTSSix thousand three hundred and twenty-two patients were found to be PPI users, accounting for 14.9% of the patient population. PPI users were more frequently female, older and more frequently diagnosed with gastroesophageal reflux disease, gastric or duodenal ulcers, arthropathy, heart disease and cancer than the rest of the population. PPI users had more frequently received prescriptions for non-steroidal ant-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), acetylsalicylic acid (ASA), oral anticoagulant therapy (OAT) and systemic steroids. PPI reimbursement resulted applicable to 69.3% of the PPI users, but a potential for reimbursement of PPI prescriptions was identified in the non PPI users for the treatment of peptic or reflux disease (8.5%) and for the protection of gastric damage caused by NSAIDS (6.1%). Patients who are potentially eligible for reimbursement are older, diagnosed with arthropathy and heart disease more frequently and most commonly receive NSAID and ASA prescriptions compared with PPI users who do not satisfy eligibility requirements. Patients in whom it was not possible to identify conditions related to prescription suitability were more frequently associated with use of OAT. CONCLUSIONA

Hepatitis B virus(HBV) recurrence after liver transplantation(LT) has been described more than 50 years ago. Similarly, to other clinical conditions, in which impairment of host immune defense favors viral replication, early reports described in details recurrence and reactivation of HBV in liver transplant recipients. The evidence of a possible, severe, clinical evolution of HBV reappearance in a significant percentage of these patients, allowed to consider,for some years, HBV positivity a contraindication for LT. Moving from the old to the new millennium this picture has changed dramatically. Several studies contributed to establish efficient prophylactic protocols for HBV recurrence and with the advent of more potent anti-viral drugs an increased control of infection was achieved in transplanted patients as well as in the general immunecompetent HBV population. Success obtained in the last decade led some authors to the conclusion that HBV is now to consider just as a "mere nuisance".However, with regard to HBV and LT, outstanding issues are still on the table:(1)A standard HBV prophylaxis protocol after transplant has not yet been clearly defined;(2) The evidence of HBV resistant strains to the most potent antiviral agents is claiming for a new generation of drugs;and(3) The possibility of prophylaxis withdrawal in some patients has been demonstrated, but reliable methods for their selection are still lacking. The evolution of LT for HBV is examined in detail in this review together with the description of the strategies adopted to prevent HBV recurrence and their pros and cons.

Training for Tourism Companies Staff Against Human Trafficking

Human trafficking, involving mostly women and children, is closely related to the tourism businesses, because traffickers use often through their complicity, which including various companies： airports, trains, hotels, etc.. This work1 aims to analyze the effectiveness of training as a tool for monitoring and preventing this crime. After data and information collecting on the issue of human trafficking and links with the tourism industry, we analyzed the main training toolkits provided by organizations which deal with the prevention and monitoring of this phenomenon, two questionnaires were built and sent： the first questionnaire was sent to 136 organizations that are training for the staff of tourism companies; it aims to detect the educational needs that the organizations want to satisfy, the educational target, teaching techniques, and the results obtained with the training; the second questionnaire was sent to 495 companies who participating in the courses, explores the motivations, the educational objectives, and results related to the training received. Through this work, the authors only present the first results obtained during the first phase, involving the point of view of seven organizations offering training courses. The answers provided by the companies show that the learning targets have been fully achieved, in particular with regard to raising awareness on the issue. Still, some gaps with regard to the support that the training may offer in the development of new attitudes and skills to prevent and monitor the phenomenon. The course contents and teaching techniques used appear to be consistent with the objectives. All of the organizations interviewed carried out the evaluation of the course learning demonstrate how companies training participants are satisfied with the results, especially in terms of knowledge and skills to contribute to the prevention of an increasing phenomenon, while less significant are the advantages about the decrease of concret

This paper presents some considerations about the definition and role of ＂medium-sized cities＂ in the processes of urban governance of the Italian regional systems, in line with the objectives of European programming 2007-2013. Beginning from some theoretical considerations, the research objective is to delineate the features of the ＂new urban geography＂ of Campania region as it has been formed on the base of the social and economic processes that in the last 30 years have modified the regional urban system in the widest context of Mezzogiorno. To such aim, the paper is articulated in two parts： the first one in which the fundamental passages are re-called in the processes of development of Italian urban areas that have carried to new paradigms object of theoretical approaches still in course of definition, and the second one in which such processes are considered regarding the model of urban development of Campania, on which the research is concentrated. Specifically, the paper presents the case of two ＂middle cities＂ in the Campania region： Benevento and Salerno, which play a particularly important role in the design and development of a ＂regional network of medium-sized cities＂.

The particular characteristics of Rapid Prototyping technologies, both in terms of constrains and opportunities, often require the reconfiguration of the product model to obtain the best compliance with the product functionalities and performances. Within this field of research, a knowledge-based tool named Design GuideLines Collaborative Framework (DGLs-CF) was developed to support both the designers defining the product consistently with the manufacturing technologies and the manufacturers defining the building setup consistently with the product requirements. Present work is focused on enhancing the DGLs-CF knowledge base and on updating the DGLs-CF knowledge management by using the information gathered on some RP technologies. The added-value of this research is represented by an improvement in the Redesign/Reconfig- uration Package, the final result of the DGLs-CF adoption. This is a list of actions to be performed on the product model and on the process parameters to avoid the limitations of the technology and to exploit at best its opportunities.
