Establishment of a prediction tool for ocular trauma patients with machine learning algorithm

AIM:To predict final visual acuity and analyze significant factors influencing open globe injury ***:Prediction models were built using a supervised classification algorithm from Microsoft Azure Machine Learning *** best algorithm was selected to analyze the predicted final visual *** retrospectively reviewed the data of 171 patients with open globe injury who visited the Pusan National University Hospital between January 2010 and July *** then applied cross-validation,the permutation feature importance method,and the synthetic minority over-sampling technique to enhance tool ***:The two-class boosted decision tree model showed the best predictive *** accuracy,precision,recall,F1 score,and area under the receiver operating characteristic curve were 0.925,0.962,0.833,0.893,and 0.971,*** increase the efficiency and efficacy of the prognostic tool,the top 14 features were finally selected using the permutation feature importance method:(listed in the order of importance)retinal detachment,location of laceration,initial visual acuity,iris damage,surgeon,past history,size of the scleral laceration,vitreous hemorrhage,trauma characteristics,age,corneal injury,primary diagnosis,wound location,and lid ***:Here we devise a highly accurate model to predict the final visual acuity of patients with open globe *** tool is useful and easily accessible to doctors and patients,reducing the socioeconomic *** further multicenter verification using larger datasets and external validation,we expect this model to become useful worldwide.

Diurnal Variation of Tropical Convection during TOGA COARE IOP

Diurnal variation of tropical convection and kinematic and thermodynamic conditions was investigated for different large-scale environments of the convectively active and inactive periods by using satellite observations and surface measurements during the Intensive Observation Period （IOP） of the Tropical Ocean Global Atmosphere/Coupled Ocean-Atmosphere Response Experiment （TOGA/COARE）. During the convectively active period, the features of nocturnal convection appear in vertical profiles of convergence, vertical velocity, heat source, and moisture sink. The specific humidity increases remarkably in the middle troposphere at dawn. On the other hand, the altitude of maximum convergence and that of the upward motion is lower during the convectively inactive period. The specific humidity peaks in the lower troposphere in the daytime and decreases in the middle troposphere. Spectral analyses of the time series of the infrared （IR） brightness temperature （TBB） and amounts of rainfall suggest multiscale temporal variation with a prominent diurnal cycle over land and oceanic regions such as the Intensive Flux Array （IFA） and the South Pacific Convergence Zone （SPCZ）. Over land, the daily maximum of deep convection associated with cloud top temperature less than 208 K appears at midnight due to the daytime radiative heating and the sea-land breeze. Over the ocean, convection usually tends to occur at dawn for the convectively active period while in the afternoon during the inactive period. Comparing the diurnal variation of convection with large-scale variables, the authors inferred that moisture in the middle troposphere contributes mostly to the development of nocturnal convection over the ocean during the convectively active period.

The purpose of the present study was to investigate the relationship between types of leisure activities and happi-ness,life satisfaction,and health perception of older Korean adults during the COVID-19 *** snowballing and purposive sampling methods,123 respondents participated in the *** results show that participation in outdoor activities and home-based activities served as a strong predictor of happiness,life satisfaction,and health perceptions among older Korean *** suggest that engaging in outdoor activities and home-based activities is likely to increase the psychological and mental health of older Korean adults during the COVID-19 era.

Effects of Hybrid Voltages on Oxide Formation on 6061 Al-alloys During Plasma Electrolytic Oxidation

Plasma electrolytic oxidation （PEO） is carried out on 6061 Al-alloys in a weak alkaline electrolyte containing NaOH, Na2SiO3 and NaCl. Centered on the correlation of composition and structure, analyses by means of X-ray diffration （XRD）, scanning electron microscope （SEM） and energy dispersive spectrometry （EDS） are conducted on the specimens, which have been PEO-treated under hybrid voltages of different direct current （DC） values （140-280 V） with constant alternate current （AC） amplitude （200 V）. Attention is paid to the composition, properties and growth mechanism of oxide layers formed with hybrid voltages. Moreover, the main effects of DC value are discussed. Ceramic layers with a double-layer structure which combines hard outer and soft inner layers are found to be consist of α-Al2O3,γ-Al2O3 and mullite. With the DC values increasing, the growth of the ceramic layers tends to have increasingly obvious three-stage feature.

Effect of coating material and lubricant on forming force and surface defects in wire drawing process

A pilot wire drawing machine as well as wire end-pointing roller was developed. Using these machines, a wire drawing test for four different coating materials and two different lubricants was performed as the reduction ratio increased from 10% to 30%. Materials used for a substrate in this study are plain carbon steel （AIS11045） and ultra low carbon bainite steel. To compute the friction coefficient between the coating layer of wire and the surface of die lbr a specific lubricant, a series of finite element analyses were carried out. SEM observations were also conducted to investigate the surface defects of wire deformed. Results show that the behavior of drawing force varies with the lubricant-type at the initial stage of drawing. The powder-typed lubricant with a large particle causes the retardation of lull lubrication on the entire contact surface and the local delamination of coating layer on the wire surface. As the flow stress of a substrate increases, the delamination becomes severe.

Flow stress equation in range of intermediate strain rates and high temperatures to predict roll force in four-pass continuous rod rolling

A flow stress equation was proposed to compute the roll force in the finishing stands of an actual rod mill where the strain rate and the temperature of the material range from 100 to 400 s-1 and from 900 to 1050 ℃,*** underlying idea is to modify the Shida model and Misaka model,which provide flow stress equations（constitutive equations） frequently used to depict deformation behavior of high temperature material at different strain *** modified model was coupled with finite element method to compute the roll force during four-pass continuous rod rolling,where strain rates are in the range of 100-400 s-1 at high temperatures（900-1050 ℃）.The roll forces and the surface temperatures of the material at each stand were measured,and the measured data were compared with the computed *** reveal that the Misaka model is better than the Shida model for high temperatures and intermediate strain *** roll force error was-5.7 % when the Misaka model was used at 900 ℃.However,the error increased by-15.2% at 1050 ℃.When the modified Misaka model was used,the error was reduced to 1.8% on *** can consequently be deduced that the modified Misaka model can be used to depict the deformation resistance behavior in intermediate ranges of strain rate and high temperature ranges in continuous rod rolling process.

Effect of angiotensin Ⅱ type 1 receptor blocker and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor on the intraocular growth factors and their receptors in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats

AIM： To investigate the effect of angiotensin II type 1 receptor blocker （ARB） and angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor （ACEI） on intraocular growth factors and their receptors in streptozotocin-induced diabetic rats. METHODS： Forty Sprague-Dawley rats were divided into 4 groups： control, diabetes mellitus （DM）, candesartan- treated DM, and enalapril-treated DM （each group, n---10）. After the induction of DM by streptozotocin, candesartan [ARB, 5 mg/（kg · d）] and enalapril [ACEI, 10 mg/（kg · d）] were administered to rats orally for 4Wko Vascular endothelial growth factor （VEGF） and angiotensin II （Ang II） concentrations in the vitreous were measured using enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays, and VEGF receptor 2 and angiotensin II type 1 receptor （ATIR） levels were assessed at week 4 by Western blotting. RESULTS： Vitreous Ang II levels were significantly higher in the DM group and candesartan-treated DM group than in the control （P=0.04 and 0.005, respectively）. Vitreous ATIR increased significantly in DM compared to the other three groups （P〈0.007）. Candesartan-treated DM rats showed higher vitreal ATIR concentration than the enalapril-treated DM group and control （P〈0.001 and P=0.005, respectively）. No difference in vitreous Ang II and ATIR concentration was found between the enalapril- treated DM group and control. VEGF and its receptor were below the minimum detection limit in all 4 groups. CONCLUSION： Increased Ang II and ATIR in the hyperglycemic state indicate activated the intraocular renin-angiotensin system, which is inhibited more effectively by systemic ACEI than systemic ARB.
