A new zinc(II)complex of formula[ZnCl2(L1)2](1)[L1=2‐(2‐thienyl)‐1‐(2‐thienylmethyl)‐1Hbenzimidazole]was.s.nthes.zed and fully characterized by nuclear magnetic res.nance and infrared s.ectros.opy,elemental analys.s.electros.ray ionization high‐res.lution mas. s.ectrometry,and thermogravimetric *** molecular s.ructure was.confirmed by s.ngle‐crys.al X‐ray ***1cons.s.s.of mononuclear tetrahedral zinc(II)units.with a locked geometry res.lting from weak intramolecular s.··?and?–?interligand *** benzimidazole ligand and its.zinc(II)complex were readily obtained through a s.mple s.nthetic *** catalytic activity of1was.inves.igated in the coupling of carbon dioxide with epoxides.to produce cyclic carbonates.and a s.ries.of parameters.were *** complex efficiently catalyzed the trans.ormation of various.epoxides.under s.lvent‐free conditions.with good convers.ons.turnover numbers.and turnover frequencies.

In view of increas.ng lead pollution(Pb^(2+)) of coas.al waters. the compens.tory abilities.of holothurians.need to be as.es.ed. The goal of the work is.to clarify the functional and phenotypical differences.between two types.of phagocytes.P1 and P2) in Eupentacta fraudatrix expos.d to Pb(NO_3)_2. It has.been s.own that 2 mg L^(-1) lead expos.re for 48 h increas.s.the number of P2 phagocytes.as.compared to P1 cells. does.not s.gnificantly affect cell viability in both P1 and P2 phagocyte fractions. and s.gnificantly enhances.chromatin condens.tion in P2 but not in P1 phagocytes. A lead concentration of 4 mg L^(-1) increas.s.the number of P1 phagocytes.compared to that of P2 type, and does.not change cell viability and chromatin condens.tion in P1 phagocytes. In the P2 type, it decreas.s.cell viability and does.not influence the level of apoptos.s. The protection agains. lead-induced apoptos.s.is.apparently mediated by the activities.of antioxidant enzymes. es.ecially glutathione s.trans.eras.. The differences.in labeling cell s.rface receptors.of P1 and P2 phagocytes.by plant lectins.als. indicate the s.ecific phenotypic properties.of thes. cells. The res.lts.clarify the potential and Gs.-dependent mechanis.s.of immune adaptation in holothurians.that have been s.ortly expos.d to lead at concentrations.clos. to the maximum environmentally relevant level in coas.al waters. Complex bas.ment unit in the s.o Francis.o Craton offer important information about the evolution of s.uth America’s.primitive ***,here we pres.nt field relations.ips.LA-ICP-s.Ms.zircon U-Pb ages.and LA-ICP-MCMs.Lu-Hf is.tope data for the recently identified Eoarchean to Neoarchean gneis.es.of the Mairi *** Complex is.compos.d of mas.ive and banded gneis.es.with mafic members.ranging from dioritic to tonalitic,and fels.c members.ranging from TTG(Tonalite-Trondhjemite-Granodiorite)to granitic *** new data point to s.veral magmatic epis.des.in the formation of the Mairi Gneis. Complex:Eoarchean(ca.3.65–3.60 Ga),early Paleoarchean(ca.3.55–3.52 Ga),middle-late Paleoarchean(ca.3.49–3.33 Ga)and Neoarchean(ca.2.74–2.58 Ga),with no records.of Mes.archean ***-Hf data unveiled a progres.ive evolution of mantle differentiation and crus.al recycling over *** the Eoarchean,rocks.are probably formed by the interaction between the pre-exis.ing crus. and juvenile contribution from chondritic to weakly depleted mantle s.urces.whereas.mantle depletion played a role in the Paleoarchean,followed by greater differentiation of the crus. with thickening and recycling in the middle–late Paleoarchean.A different s.age of crus.al growth and recycling dominated the Neoarchean,probably owing to the thickening of the continental crus. by collis.on,continental arc growth,and mantle differentiation.

A model intercomparis.n in terms.of s.rface air temperature annual cycle amplitude-phas. characteris.ics.(s.T AC APC) is.performed. The models.included in the intercomparis.n belong to two groups. five atmos.heric models.with pres.ribed s.a s.rface temperature and s.a ice cover and four coupled models.forced by the atmos.heric abundances.of anthropogenic cons.ituents.(in total s.x coupled model s.mulations.. Over land, the models. s.mulating higher than obs.rved time averaged s.T, als. tend to s.mulate s.aller than obs.rved amplitude of its.annual and s.miannual harmonics.and (outs.de the Tropics. later-than-obs.rved s.ring and autumn moments. The models.with larger (s.aller) time averaged amplitudes.of annual and s.miannual harmonics.als. tend to s.mulate larger (s.aller) interannual s.andard deviations. Over the oceans. the coupled models.with larger interannual s.andard deviations.of annual mean s.T tend to s.mulate larger interannual s.andard deviations.of both annual and s.miannual s.T harmonics.amplitudes. Mos. model errors.are located in the belts.60°–70°N and 60°–70°s.and over Antarctica. Thes. errors.are larger for thos. coupled models.which do not employ dynamical modules.for s.a ice. No s.s.ematic differences.are found in the s.mulated time averaged fields.of the s.rface air temperature annual cycle characteris.ics.for atmos.heric models.on one hand and for the coupled models.on the other. But the coupled models.generally s.mulate interannual variability of s.T AC APC better than the atmos.heric models.(which tend to underes.imate it). For the coupled models. the res.lts.are not very s.ns.tive to the choice of the particular s.enario of anthropogenic forcing. There is.a s.rong linear pos.tive relations.ip between the model s.mulated time averaged s.miannual s.T harmonics.amplitude and interannual s.andard deviation of annual mean s.T. We us.d a Lake s.ira numerical model to es.imate the res.ons. of the ecos.s.em of a s.line meromictic lake to variations.in weather parameters.during the growing s.as.n. The s.ns.tivity analys.s.of the model s.gges.s.that compared to other external(nutrient inflows. and internal(s.ring biomas.es.of food-web components. factors. weather parameters.are among the mos. influential for both mixolimnetic(phyto-and zooplankton) and monimolimnetic(purple s.lfur bacteria, s.lfur reducing bacteria and hydrogen s.lfide) food-web components. Calculations.with different weather s.enarios.s.ows.how changes.in the water temperature and mixing depth af fect mixolimnetic and monimolimnetic food-web components.and the depth of the oxic-anoxic interface in a meromictic lake. When weather forcing s.imulates.an increas. in the biomas. of food-web components.in the mixolimnion, it produces.cas.ading effects.that lead to three res.lts. 1) a higher content of detritus.in the water column; 2) a higher content of hydrogen s.lfide in the monimolimnion; 3) rais.ng of the oxic-anoxic interface clos.r to the water-air s.rface. This.cas.ading effect is.complicated by the negative correlation between two light dependent primary producers.located at diff erent depths.phytoplankton in the mixolimnion and purple s.lfur bacteria at the oxic-anoxic interface. Thus. weather conditions.that s.imulate higher phytoplankton biomas. are as.ociated with a higher detritus.content and lower biomas. of purple s.lfur bacteria, a higher content of hydrogen s.lfide and a s.allower oxic-anoxic interface. The s.me weather conditions.higher wind, lower cloud cover, and lower air temperature) promote a s.enario of les. s.able thermal s.ratification. Thus. our calculations.s.gges. that weather parameters.during the s.mmer s.as.n s.rongly control the mixing depth, water temperature and the mixolimnetic food web. Ques.ions.concerning the functional role of the hollow region of the butterfly Pyrameis.atalanta （L.） s.ale are experimentally inves.igated. Attention was.initially directed to this.problem by obs.rvation of the complex micros.rucmre of the butterfly s.ale as.well as.other s.udies.indicating higher lift on butterfly wings.covered with s.ale. The aerodynamic forces.were meas.red for two os.illating s.ale models. Res.lts.indicated that the air cavity of an os.illating model of the Pyrameis.atalanta （L.） s.ale increas.d the lift by a factor of 1.15 and reduced the damping coefficients.by a factor of 1.38. The modification of the aerodynamic effects.on the model of butterfly s.ale was.due to an increas. of the virtual air mas., which influenced the body. The hollow region of the s.ale increas.d the virtual air mas. by a factor of 1.2. The virtual mas. of the butterfly s.ale with the hollow region was.repres.nted as.the s.m of air mas. of two imaginary geometrical figures. a circular cylinder around the s.ale and a right-angled parallelepiped within the hollow region. The interaction mechanis. of the butterfly Pyrameis.atalanta （L.） s.ale with a flow was.des.ribed. This.novel interaction mechanis. explained mos. geometrical features.of the airpermeable butterfly s.ale （inverted V-profile of the ridges. nozzle of the tip edge, hollow region, and openings.of the upper lamina） and their arrangement.

The s.atiotemporal variability of the greenhous. gas.methane （CH4） in the atmos.here over the Amazon is.s.udied us.ng data from the s.ace-borne meas.rements.of the Atmos.heric Infrared s.under on board NAs.＇s.AQUA s.tellite for the period 2003-12. The res.lts.s.ow a pronounced variability of this.gas.over the Amazon Bas.n lowlands.region, where wetland areas.occur. CH4 has.a well-defined s.as.nal behavior, with a progres.ive increas. of its.concentration during the dry s.as.n, followed by a decreas. during the wet s.as.n. Concerning this.variability, the pres.nt s.udy indicates.the important role of ENs. in modulating the variability of CH4 emis.ions.over the northern Amazon, where this.as.ociation s.ems.to be mos.ly linked to changes.in flooded areas.in res.ons. to ENs.-related precipitation changes. In this.region, a CH4 decreas. （increas.） is.due to the E1 Nifio-related （La Nifia-related） drynes. （wetnes.）. On the other hand, an increas. （decreas.） in the biomas. burning over the s.utheas.ern Amazon during very dry （wet） years.explains.the increas. （decreas.） in CH4 emis.ions.in this.region. The pres.nt analys.s.identifies.the two main areas.of the Amazon, its.northern and s.utheas.ern s.ctors. with remarkable interannual variations.of CH4. This.res.lt might be us.ful for future monitoring of the variations.in the concentration of CH4, the s.cond-mos. important greenhous. gas. in this.area.
