Homogeneous and heterogeneous types of catalysis are frequently considered as separate disciplines or even opposed to each *** the present work,a new type of mixed het-ero-/homogeneous catalysis was demonstrated for the case of selective alkylarene oxidation by molecular *** proposed catalytic system consists of two widely available components:N-hydroxyphthalimide(NHPI,a homogeneous organocatalyst for free-radical chain reactions)and nanosized TiO_(2)(heterogeneous UV-active photoredox catalyst).The interaction of NHPI with TiO_(2) allows for a shift from UV to visible light photoredox activity and generation of phthalimide-N-oxyl(PINO)radicals that diffuse into the solution where NHPI/PINO-catalyzed free-radical chain reaction can proceed without the additional light input providing a fundamental increase in energy *** NHPI/TiO_(2) ratio controls the selectivity of oxidation affording preferential formation of hydroperoxide or ketone from alkylarene.

AIM: To communicate our findings on successful treat-ment of recto-vaginal fistulas (RVFs) after prosthetic reinforcement surgery of pelvic organ prolapse (POP). METHOdS: A retrospective single center study between 1998 and 2008 was performed. A total of 80 patients with RVF were identified, of which five patients (6%), with a mean age of 65 years (range: 52-73), had undergone previous surgery for POP with pros-thetic reinforcement. RESULTS: All patients complained about ongoing vaginal infections and febrile episodes. These symptomswere reported after a mean period of 18 mo after POP repair. As a first intervention, three patients underwent ablation of the prosthetic material (PM). As a second intervention, open proctectomy with a primary anas-tomosis, an omental patch, and a protective ileostomy were performed in two patients. One patient required a terminal colostomy due to complete destruction of the anal sphincters. In two other patients, ablation of the PM and proctectomy was performed as a one-step procedure. The postoperative course in all patients was uneventful, with a mean length of hospitalization of 20 d (range: 15-30). Closure of the ileostomy was achieved in all four patients within four months. After a mean period of 35 mo (range: 4-60) of follow-up, no recurrence was observed with normal continence in four ***: In our experience, the definitive treat-ment of high RVFs after PM repair for POP necessitates ablation of the PM, proctectomy with a primary colo-rectal anastomosis, an omental patch interposition, and a temporary ileostomy.

The Intemational Concordia explorer telescope （ICE-T） is a f/1.1 Schmidt telescope, 61 cm aperture, with two optical tubes equipped with identical charged coupled devices 10.3× 10.3 k, 9μ pixel size, ultra-wide-fieldwith a total FOV of 65 square degrees. Its aim is to operate at dome C, the French-Italian Antarctic Station, taking advantage of the long winter night for continuous observations. It is optimized for high precision photometry in two separate filters Sloan g and Sloan i ranging from 100 mmag to 10 mmag （from 9 to16 mag）. Among the scientific tasks there are the detection of hot Jupiters and Super Earths with the transit method, and related magnetic activity of the hosting stars. The 4m Radom dome for ICE-T together with 3 foundation pillars and the cables bundle have been already successfully installed in January 2009.

We present a soliton resonance method for moving target detection which is based on the use of inhomogeneous Korteweg-de Vries equation. Zero initial and absorbing boundary conditions are used to obtain the solution of the equation. The solution will be soliton-like if its right part contains the information about the moving target. The induced soliton will grow in time and the soliton propagation will reflect the kinematic properties of the target. Such soliton-like solution is immune to different types of noise present in the data set, and the method allows to significantly amplify the simulated target signal. Both, general formalism and computer simulations justifying the soliton resonance method capabilities are presented. Simulations are performed for 1d and 2d target movement.

Turkey wattle is a by-product generated during slaughter,which has a large amount of connective tissue and is a potential source of glycosaminoglycans(GAGs).This study aimed to extract GAGs from the turkey wattle(Meleagris gallopavos)and investigate its anticoagulant activity,and its cytotoxic and antiproliferative activity in tumor *** sulfate(CS-4 and CS-6)and dermatan sulfate(dS)present in the F-VII fraction and hyaluronic acid(HA)in the F-V fraction were *** HA showed a high molecular weight(1.0×10^(6) da)and an apparent cytotoxic/antiproliferative effect against human hepatoma cells.F-VII fraction has an apparent cytotoxic/antiproliferative effect against renal adenoma cells and anticoagulant potential in *** results achieved in this study demonstrated that wattle,a by-product of turkey industrialization,has the potential to be valued as a raw material for the extraction of GAGs with bioactive properties.

We present the results of research carried out for the first time, to the best of our knowledge, on the generation of terahertz radiation under the action of "single-color" and "dual-color" high-power femtosecond laser pulses on liquefied gas–liquid nitrogen. Our experimental results supported by careful theoretical interpretation showed clearly that under femtosecond laser radiation, liquid and air emit terahertz waves in a very different way. We assumed that the mobility of ions and electrons in liquid can play an essential role, forming a quasi-static electric field by means of ambipolar diffusion mechanism.

Results of investigations of band structure, Fermi surface and effective masses of charge carriers in the ultrathin (monolayer graphene)/MnO(001) and MnO(001) films are presented using the method of the density functional theory. Features of spin states of valence band and Fermi level as well as an interatomic interaction in these systems are discussed. A magnetic moment at Mn atom is estimated and an effect of spin polarization at atoms of oxygen and carbon has been revealed which natures are discussed. By calculations of structural energies for 2d (monolayer graphene)/MnO(001) and 2d MnO(001) a stability of these systems has been ascertained. In the 2d (monolayer graphene)/MnO(001) and 2d MnO(001) systems the band structure calculations for the 2d systems mentioned above point out that tensor components of effective masses of both electrons and holes are in the ranges of (0.15 - 0.54) m0 and (0.38 - 1.27) m0 respectively. Mobility estimations of two-dimensional charge carriers for a 2d (monolayer graphene)/MnO(001)AF2 heterostructure have been performed.

Potential electric and gravitational fields do not change steady quantized states of electrons in chemical bonds, microscopic clusters of charges and macroscopic superconducting rings. There are no theoretical grounds to create Squid-type instruments to measure electric and gravitational fields with quantum accuracy basing on the Bohr-Sommerfeld quantization of charged particles. Squid-verified spatial flatness for superfluid electrons corresponds to the material space paradigm for reality.
