A precise knowledge of the polarization state of light is crucial in technologies that involve the generation and application of structured light fields. The implementation of efficient methods to determine and characterize polarization states is mandatory;more importantly, these structured light fields must be at any spatial location at a low expense. Here, we introduce a new characterization method that relies on a rather convenient description of electric fields without neglecting their 3D nature. This method is particularly suitable for highly focused fields,which exhibit important polarization contributions along their propagation direction in the neighborhood of the focal region;i.e., the contributions out of the planes transverse to the optical axis, conventionally used to specify the polarization state of these fields. As shown, the method allows the extraction of information about the three field components at relatively low computational and experimental costs. Furthermore, it also allows characterization of the polarization state of a field in a rather simple manner. To check the feasibility and reliability of the method, we determined both analytically and experimentally the local polarization states for a series of benchmark input fields with it, finding excellent agreement between the theory and experiment.

The production of silver nanoparticles(AgNPs) has increased tremendously during recent years due to their antibacterial and physicochemical properties. As a consequence, these particles are released inevitably into the environment, with soil being the main sink of disposal. soil interactions have an effect on AgNP mobility, transport and bioavailability. To understand AgNP adsorption processes, lab-controlled kinetic studies were *** tests performed with five different Mediterranean agricultural soils showed that cation exchange capacity and electrical conductivity are the main parameters controlling the adsorption processes. The adsorption kinetics of different sized(40, 75, 100 and 200 nm)and coated(citrate, polyvinylpyrrolidone and polyethyleneglycol(PEG)) AgNPs indicated that these nanoparticle properties have also an effect on the adsorption *** assess the mobility and bioavailability of AgNPs and to determine if their form is maintained during adsorption/desorption processes, loaded soils were submitted to leaching tests three weeks after batch adsorption studies. The DIN 38414-s4 extraction method indicated that AgNPs were strongly retained on soils, and single-particle inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry confirmed that silver particles maintained their nanoform, except for 100 nm PEG-AgNPs and 40 nm citrate-coated AgNPs. The DTPA(diethylenetriaminepentaacetic acid) leaching test was more effective in extracting silver,but there was no presence of AgNPs in almost all of these leachates.

A 33-year-old woman who presented with epigastric discomfort and diarrhea underwent an abdominal ultrasound(Us).This investigation and subsequent contrastenhanced computed tomography,magnetic resonance imaging and endoscopic Us with fine needle aspiration (FNA)revealed a 40 mm well-circumscribed mass in the uncinate process of the *** were suggestive of a mucinous or solid-cystic pseudopapillary tumor of the pancreas,although other lesions such as a nonfunctioning neuroendocrine tumor could not be ruled *** samples were negative for malignant cells,but of limited value due to poor *** was decided to surgically remove the tumor because malignancy could not be *** intraoperative biopsies were suggestive of mesenchymal tumor and consequently a conservative resection(uncinatectomy)was performed. Domestication drastically changed crop genomes,fixing alleles of interest and creating different genetic ***-wide association studies(GWAss)are a powerful tool to detect these alleles of interest(and so QTLs).In this study,we explored the genetic structure as well as additive and non-additive genotype-phenotype associations in a collection of 243 almond *** genetic structure analysis strongly supported the subdivision of the accessions into five ancestral groups,all formed by accessions with a common *** of these groups was formed exclusively by spanish accessions,while the rest were mainly formed by accessions from China,Italy,France,and the *** results agree with archaeological and historical evidence that separate modern almond dissemination into four phases:Asiatic,Mediterranean,Californian,and southern *** total,we found 13 independent QTLs for nut weight,crack-out percentage,double kernels percentage,and blooming *** the 13 QTLs found,only one had an additive *** candidate gene analysis,we proposed Prudul26A013473 as a candidate gene responsible for the main QTL found in crack-out percentage,Prudul26A012082 and Prudul26A017782 as candidate genes for the QTLs found in double kernels percentage,and Prudul26A000954 as a candidate gene for the QTL found in blooming *** study enhances our knowledge of almond dissemination history and will have a great impact on almond breeding.
