Destabilization of acrosome and elastase influence mediate the release of secretory phospholipase A2 from human spermatozoa

Aim： To determine the cellular distribution of secretory phospholipase A2 （sPLA2） in dependence on the acrosomal state and under the action of elastase released under inflammatory processes from leukocytes. Methods： Acrosome reaction of spermatozoa was triggered by calcimycin. Human leukocyte elastase was used to simulate inflammatory conditions. To visualize the distribution of sPLA2 and to determine the acrosomal state, immunofluorescence techniques and lectin binding combined with confocal laser scanning fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry were used. results： Although sPLA2 was detected at the acrosome and tail regions in intact spermatozoa, it disappeared from the head region after triggering the acrosome reaction. This release of sPLA2 was associated with enhanced binding of annexin V-fluoroscein isothiocyanate （FITC） to spermatozoa surfaces, intercalation of ethidium-homodimer I, and binding of FITC-labelled concanavalin A at the acrosomal region. Spermatozoa from healthy subjects treated with elastase were characterized by release of sPLA2, disturbance of acrosome structure, and loss of vitality. Conclusion： The ability of spermatozoa to release secretory phospholipase A2 is related to the acrosomal state. Premature destabi- lization of the acrosome and loss of sPLA2 can occur during silent inflammations in the male genital tract. The distribution pattern of sPLA2 in intact spermatozoa might be an additional parameter for evaluating sperm quality.

Seropositivity of Chlamydophila pneumoniae immunoglobulin G antibody of HIV/AIDS patients in Abuja,Nig.ria

Objective:To detect igG antibody to Chlamydophila pneumoniae(CP) in sera of HIV/AIDS patients and provide rationale for inclusion of routine screening for anti-CP antibodies and anti-chlamydial agents in the Nig.rian National H1V/AIDS Management ***:Serum samples from 34 consenting HIV/AIDS patients attended a Government-approved Antiretroviral Treatment Facility in Abuja were screened by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay for anti-CP igG antibody using ImmunoComb? Chlamydia Bivalent igG Test kit(Orgenics,Israel).results: Anti-CP igG antibody was detected in 20(58.8%) of 34 patients *** detection rale was higher among the males(8/13:61.5%) than the females(12/21:57.1%).Patients of the age group 16-30 years had the highest(7/10:70%) detection of anti-CP igG ***:The result of the present study suggests the presence of anti-CP antibodies in sera of the HIV/AIDS patients,and reinforces the need for routine screening for anti-CP antibodies as a necessary intervention to reduce the burden of Chlamydophila pneumoniae(***) infections and to reduce HIV-positive morbidity in *** outcome of this study also provides justification for the possible inclusion of anti-chlamydial agents in the National HIV/AIDS Management Plan to provide prophylaxis against or treat active *** infections.

A global assessment of recent trends in gastrointestinal cancer and lifestyle-associated risk factors

Background:Gastrointestinal(GI)cancers were responsible for 26.3%of cancer cases and 35.4%of deaths worldwide in *** study aimed to analyze the global incidence,mortality,prevalence,and contributing risk factors of the 6 major GI cancer entities[esophageal cancer(EC),gastric cancer(GC),liver cancer(LC),pancreatic cancer(PC),colon cancer,and rectal cancer].Methods:Using the Global Cancer Observatory and the Global Health Observatory databases,we reviewed the current GI cancer incidence,prevalence,and mortality,analyzed the association of GI cancer prevalence with national human development indices(HDIs),identified the contributing risk factors,and estimated developing age-and sex-specific trends in incidence and ***:In 2020,the trend in age-standardized rate of incidence of GI cancers closely mirrored that of mortality,with the highest rates of LC,EC,and GC in Asia and of colorectal cancer(CrC)and PC mainly in *** and mortality were positively,but the mortality-to-incidence ratio(MIr)was inversely correlated with the national HDI *** MIrs in developing countries likely reflected the lack of preventive strategies and effective *** cancer prevalence was highest in Europe and was also positively correlated with HDIs and lifestyle-associated risk factors,such as alcohol consumption,smoking,obesity,insufficient physical activity,and high blood cholesterol level,but negatively correlated with hypertension and *** of EC were consistently and those of GC mostly decreasing,whereas incidences of CrC were increasing in most countries/regions,especially in the younger *** of LC and PC were also increasing in all age-gender populations except for younger *** were decreasing for EC,GC,and CrC in most countries/regions, and age-specific trends were observed in PC and LC with adecrease in the younger but an increase in the older ***: On the global scale, higher GI c

Networked 3D Virtual Museum System

Virtual heritage has become increasingly important in the conservation, preservation, and interpretation of our cultural and natural history. Moreover, rapid advances in digital technologies in recent years offer virtual heritage new direction. This paper introduces our approach toward a networked 3D virtual museum system, especially, how to model, manage, present virtual heritages and furthermore how to use computer network for the share of virtual heritage in the networked virtual environment. This paper first addresses a 3D acquisition and processing technique for virtual heritage modeling and shows some illustrative examples. Then, this paper describes a management of virtual heritage assets that are composed by various rich media. This paper introduces our schemes to present the virtual heritages, which include 3D virtual heritage browser system, CAVE system, and immersive Vr theater. Finally, this paper presents the new direction of networked 3D virtual museum of which main idea is remote guide of the virtual heritage using the mixed reality technique.
