Localized surface plasmon resonance has been demonstrated to provide effective photophysical enhancement mechanisms in plasmonic ***,it remains highly challenging for distinct mechanisms to function in synergy for a collective gain in catalysis due to the lack of spatiotemporal control of their ***,the anisotropic plasmon resonance nature of Au nanorods was exploited to achieve distinct functionality towards synergistic *** and photochemical effects were enabled by the longitudinal and transverse plasmon resonance modes,respectively,and were enhanced by partial coating of silica nanoshells and epitaxial growth of a reactor *** excitation leads to a synergistic gain in photothermal-mediated hot carrier-driven hydrogen evolution *** approach provides important design principles for plasmonic photocatalysts in achieving spatiotemporal modulation of distinct photophysical enhancement *** also effectively broadens the sunlight response range and increases the efficacy of distinct plasmonic enhancement pathways towards solar energy harvesting and conversion.

Maximum correntropy-based pseudolinear Kalman filter for passive bearings-only target tracking

This paper proposes a new approach for solving the bearings-only target tracking (BoT) problem by introducing a maximum correntropy criterion to the pseudolinear Kalman filter (PLKF). PLKF has been a popular choice for solving BoT problems owing to the reduced computational complexity. However, the coupling between the measurement vector and pseudolinear noise causes bias in PLKF. To address this issue, a bias-compensated PLKF (BC-PLKF) under the assumption of Gaussian noise was formulated. However, this assumption may not be valid in most practical cases. Therefore, a bias-compensated PLKF with maximum correntropy criterion is introduced, resulting in two new filters: maximum correntropy pseudolinear Kalman filter (MC-PLKF) and maximum correntropy bias-compensated pseudolinear Kalman filter (MC-BC-PLKF). To demonstrate the performance of the proposed estimators, a comparative analysis assuming large outliers in the process and measurement model of 2D BoT is conducted. These large outliers are modeled as non-Gaussian noises with diverse noise distributions that combine Gaussian and Laplacian noises. The simulation results are validated using root mean square error (RMSE), average RMSE (ARMSE), percentage of track loss and bias norm. Compared to PLKF and BC-PLKF, all the proposed maximum correntropy-based filters (MC-PLKF and MC-BC-PLKF) performed with superior estimation accuracy.

In-depth analysis of Bt cotton adoption:farmers' opinions, genetic landscape, and varied perspectives——a case study from Pakistan

Background Bt technology has played significant role in controlling bollworms and increasing cotton yield in earlier days of its introduction, a subsequent decline in yield became apparent over time. This decline may be attributed to various environmental factors, pest dynamics, or combination of both. Therefore, the present biophysical survey and questionnaire were designed to evaluate the impact of Bt cotton on bollworms management and its effect on reducing spray costs, targeting farmers with varied landholdings and educational backgrounds. Additionally, data on farmers' cultivated varieties and the prevalence of bollworms and sucking insects in their fields were recorded. Subsequently, about eleven thousand cotton samples from farmer fields were tested for Cry1Ac, Cry2Ab and Vip3A genes by strip *** In this analysis, 83% of the farmers planting approved varieties believe that Bt technology control bollworms, while 17% hold contradictory views. Similarly, among farmers cultivating unapproved varieties, 77% agree on effectiveness of Bt technology against bollworms, while 23% disagree. On the other hand, 67% of farmers planting approved varieties believe that Bt technology does not reduce spray costs, while 33% agree with the effectiveness. Similarly, 78% of farmers cultivating unapproved varieties express doubt regarding its role to reduce spray costs, while 22% are in favour of this notion. Differences in opinions on the effectiveness of Bt cotton in controlling bollworms and reducing spray cost between farmers planting unapproved and approved varieties may stem from several factors. One major cause is the heavy infestation of sucking insects, which is probably due to the narrow genetic variation of the cultivated varieties. BACKGROUND Denosumab inhibits the receptor activator of nuclear factor *** markedly increases bone mineral density and has been proven to reduce the risk of ***,numerous adverse effects,notably hypocalcemia,are prevalent in patients with end-stage renal disease(ESRD).AIM To analyze the incidence and predictors of hypocalcemia caused by denosumab compared to control in patients with *** We conducted this study in accordance with the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-analyses ***,Scopus,Cochrane Central,and EMBASE were systematically searched from inception through March *** original studies investigating the effects of denosumab on patients with ESRD compared to control were *** primary outcomes of our study were the incidence of mild,severe,and very severe *** outcomes included serum levels of intact parathyroid hormone,calcium,and *** results were pooled and analyzed using a random-effects *** Seven articles comprising 3240 patients were included in our *** treated with denosumab had a significantly increased incidence of mild hypocalcemia[risk ratio(RR):2.79;95%confidence interval(CI):0.99-7.91;P=0.05;I²=37%]and of very severe hypocalcemia(RR:9.58;95%CI:1.58-57.98;P=0.01;I²=49%).However,an increase in the occurrence of severe hypocalcemia was non-significant(RR:4.23;95%CI:0.47-38.34;P=0.20;I²=96%).Alternatively,denosumab showed a significant decrease in serum intact parathyroid hormone[mean difference(MD):-433.20,95%CI:-775.12 to-91.28,I2=98%,P=0.01],while there was a non-significant decrease in phosphate(MD:-0.47,95%CI:-1.35 to 0.41,I2=88%,P=0.30)and calcium levels(MD:-0.33,95%CI:-0.95 to 0.29,I2=94%,P=0.29).CONCLUSION Our study demonstrated that denosumab is significantly associated with mild and very severe hypocalcemia in patients with ESRD making it necessary to detect and prevent this side effect of treatment.

A Constant Gain and Miniaturized Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna for 5G Communication Applications

This paper proposes a stable gain and a compact Antipodal Vivaldi Antenna(AVA)for a 38GHz band of 5G communication.A novel compact AVA is designed to provide constant gain,high front to back ratio(FBR),and very high *** performance of the proposed AVA is enhanced with the help of a dielectric lens(DL)and corrugations.A rectangular-shaped DL is incorporated in conventional AVA(CAVA)to enhance its gain up to 1 dBi and the bandwidth by 1.8 ***,the rectangular corrugations are implemented in CAVA with lens(CAVA-L)to further improve the gain and *** proposed AVA with lens and corrugations(AVA-LC)gives a constant and high gain of 8.2 to 9 *** designed AVA-LC operates from 34 to 45GHz frequency which covers 38GHz(37.5 to 43.5 GHz)band of 5G ***,the presented AVA-LC mitigates the back lobe and sidelobe levels,resulting in FBR and efficiency *** FBR is in the range of 12.2 to 22 dB,and efficiency is 99%,almost *** AVA-LC is fabricated on Roger’s RT/duroid 5880 substrate,and it is tested to verify the simulated *** proposed compact AVA-LC with high gain,an improved FBR,excellent efficiency,and stable radiation patterns is suitable for the 38GHz band of 5G devices.

Metasurfaces,two-dimensional(2D)or quasi-2D arrays of dielectric or metallic meta-atoms,offer a compact and novel platform to manipulate the amplitude,phase,and polarization of incoming wavefronts in a desired manner by engineering the geometry of *** polarization control,spin-insensitive metasurfaces have attracted significant attention due to the robustness of circular polarization against the beam misalignment and multi-path *** now,several efforts have been made to realize polarization-insensitive metasurfaces for circularly polarized(CP)wavefront manipulation;however,these metasurfaces only consider the cross-polarization channels and keep the co-polarization channels *** metasurfaces cannot be considered truly spin-insensitive,as one has to carefully choose the analyzer at ***,by combining the polarization-insensitive geometric phase and engineered propagation phase,we propose a spin-insensitive design principle based on metasurfaces that can perform identical functionality(on co-and crosspolarization channels)irrespective of the handedness of incident/transmitted *** a proof of concept,we design and numerically realize two types of spin-insensitive wavefront engineering devices:(1)spin-insensitive meta-hologram and(2)spin-insensitive beam deflector with power splitting *** proposed work is expected to open up new avenues for developing spin-independent metasurfaces-based devices.

Changes in body composition in relation to estimated glomerular filtration rate and physical activity in predialysis chronic kidney disease

Background: Early body composition changes, associated with physical inactivity and disease advancement are devastating for patient-related outcomes in predialysis chronic kidney disease (CKD), thus warranting a detailed analysis of body composition beyond conventional ***: The study included 40 subjects diagnosed with CKD;recruited between January to May 2021. Body composition was measured using the multifrequency analyzer, InBody 770. International Physical Activity Questionnaire-Short Form was used to assess physical activity. Suitable statistical analyses were performed using SPSS ***: The mean age of the subjects was 58.68 ± 12.24 years. Sarcopenic obesity was prevalent in 62.5% of the subjects. Body mass index under identified obesity by 15% compared to percent body fat, especially in subjects with low muscle mass. The decline in a unit of estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) significantly correlated with a decrease in weight (p = 0.02), body fat mass (p = 0.05), visceral fat area (p = 0.05), and phase angle (p = 0.01) with marginal changes in waist–hip ratio and extracellular water/total body water. The effect of physical activity on skeletal muscle mass was homogeneous between low and moderate levels, but significantly different from high activity ***: Changes in fat and fluid compartment were associated with eGFR decline, whereas higher physical activity positively affected body composition.

松嫩草地是我国东北地区最重要的放牧草地之一,由于过度的放牧和开垦,松嫩草地严重退化。松嫩草地的退化导致土壤盐碱化,而土壤盐碱化通过改变特定的生态过程使蚂蚁和植物的多样性下降。蚂蚁是草原上的常见物种,除了影响土壤的理化性质外,还与特定的土壤生物有着共生关系,在草原生态系统中发挥着重要的作用。本论文从多营养级水平下,研究不同退化程度的草地植物多样性对蚂蚁多样性的影响,并将蚜虫与蚂蚁互惠共生关系以及他们与植物物种的特定共生关系作为研究重点。实验在东北师范大学和松嫩草地进行,采用完全随机区组设计。根据植物的退化程度将草地分为重度退化草地和轻度退化草地。重度退化草地中的蚂蚁优势种为黄毛蚁(Lasius flavus),而轻度退化草地中的蚂蚁优势种则为玉米毛蚁(Lasius alienus)。我们研究了蚂蚁的多样性、蚁丘的分布格局、植物的生物量和多样性、每株植物的昆虫数量、根系结构和主要植物物种的营养成分。在室内实验中,我们选择了黄蒿(***)、羊草(***)、狗尾草(***)三种植物以及玉米毛蚁、蚜虫和水蜡虫为研究对象。根据特定的植物-蚂蚁-蚜虫的共生关系,采用4种处理方法研究不同植物与蚂蚁多样性的耦合关系。主要结果如下:(1)退化草地通过调控蚂蚁的生态位,进而改变了蚂蚁的多样性。(2)蚁丘在重度退化草地呈非均质分布,说明草地退化引起蚂蚁定殖的改变。相反,在轻度退化的草地中,发现蚁丘呈均匀和平衡分布。(3)草原实验区优势种为羊草、拂子草(Calamagrostis epigejos)、黄蒿、全叶马兰(Kalimeris integrifolia)、狗尾草和碱蒿(Artemisia anethifolia)。营养成分分析表明,黄蒿和碱蒿根部的含水量低于其他植物物种,黄蒿的根长和根表面积均高于其他植物。因此,黄蒿能为蚜虫提供更适宜的生境条件,并通过其形态特征来影响动物多样性。(4)黄蒿根和碱蒿根上的寄生蚜虫和水蜡虫的数量较其他植物物种来说明显较高。根系结构和蚂蚁共同作用为蚜虫和水蜡虫提供了适宜的生态位,这是吸引蚂蚁进入猪毛蒿的决定性因素。植物多样性通过改变动物物种的生态幅度、提供适宜的生境来影响动物的多样性。(5)对蚂蚁的定量分析表明,黄蒿上的蚂蚁数量较多,尤其是在有蚜虫存在下。吸引蚂蚁的主要因素是蚜虫的存在,它们提供蜜露作为蚂蚁的营养来源。每一种植物都为蚂蚁提供了特定的生态位,从而控制了它们的分布。综上所述,昆虫对松嫩草地的植物多样性具有广泛的影响和重要的生态意义。玉米毛蚁和黄毛蚁通过改变土壤的理化性质间接影响植物群落。蚂蚁、昆虫与植物的共生关系直接影响着植物群落的多样性。植物根系等形态属性对控制不同昆虫之间的互利关系有着巨大的影响。因此我们从植物根系形态学的新视角解读了关于蚂蚁、蚜虫和植物之间互惠共生关系。在以后的研究中可以对黄蒿的根化感物质和蚜虫协同进化方面进行深入的探索。

Screening of malnutrition using Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment tool and hand muscle strength in subjects with pancreatitis

Background:Pancreatitis patients are at an increased risk of malnutrition due to impaired digestion,absorption,and *** degree of malnutrition is dependent on the duration,*** or *** on nutritional status in patients with pancreatitis are *** of nutritional status,physical functioning,and muscle strength among the subjects are scarce *** main aim of this study was to screen the status of malnutrition using appropriate screening tools and to assess hand muscle strength among ***:A cross-sectional study was conducted on 64 subjects(18–80 years old,59 males and 5 females)in Mysore city,*** patients were screened for malnutrition using a standard tool Patient-Generated Subjective Global Assessment(PG-SGA)and handgrip strength on both dominant and nondominant ***:The majority of patients(n=44)were categorized as moderately malnourished/suspected malnutrition(Stage B)according to PG-SGA.A significant difference(p<0.005)in handgrip strength was seen in men aged 31–40(t=?3.287)and 41–50(t=?5.487)years compared to healthy ***:This study was able to identify patients at risk of malnutrition when the PG-SGA tool was used along with handgrip strength and other anthropometric parameters.

Robust Vehicle Detection Based on Improved You Look Only Once

Vehicle detection is still challenging for intelligent transportation systems(ITS)to achieve satisfactory *** existing methods based on one stage and two-stage have intrinsic weakness in obtaining high vehicle detection *** to advancements in detection technology,deep learning-based methods for vehicle detection have become more popular because of their higher detection accuracy and speed than the existing *** paper presents a robust vehicle detection technique based on Improved You Look Only Once(RVD-YOLOv5)to enhance vehicle detection *** proposed method works in three phases;in the first phase,the K-means algorithm performs data clustering on datasets to generate the classes of the ***,in the second phase,the YOLOv5 is applied to create the bounding box,and the Non-Maximum Suppression(NMS)technique is used to eliminate the overlapping of the bounding boxes of the ***,the loss function CIoU is employed to obtain the accurate regression bounding box of the vehicle in the third *** simulation results show that the proposed method achieves better results when compared with other state-of-art techniques,namely LightweightDilated Convolutional Neural Network(LD-CNN),Single Shot Detector(SSD),YOLOv3 and YOLOv4 on the performance metric like precision,recall,mAP and *** simulation and analysis are carried out on PASCAL VOC 2007,2012 and MS COCO 2017 datasets to obtain better performance for vehicle ***,the RVD-YOLOv5 obtains the results with an mAP of 98.6%and Precision,Recall,and F1-Score are 98%,96.2%and 97.09%,respectively.
