BACKGROUND Clear cell sarcoma is an aggressive rare malignant neoplasm with morphologic and immunohistochemical similarities to malignant *** disease entities display melanin pigment and melanocytic markers,making differentiation between the two *** clear cell sarcoma cases in the literature have mainly involved deep soft tissues of the extremities,trunk or limb girdles,we report here two cases of primary clear cell sarcoma in unusual sites and describe their clinicopathologic *** SUMMARY The first case involves a 37-year-old female,who presented with jaw pain and a submandibular *** second case involves a 33-year-old male,who presented with back pain and a thoracic spine *** cases showed tumors with diffuse infiltration of neoplastic cells that were positive for melanocytic markers,and in both cases this finding led to an initial diagnosis of metastatic ***,further analysis by fluorescence in situ hybridization(commonly known as FISH)showed a rearrangement of the eWS RNA binding protein 1(eWSR1)gene on chromosome 22q12 in both patients,confirming the diagnosis of clear cell *** Distinction between clear cell sarcoma and malignant melanoma can be made by FISH,particularly in cases of unusual tumor sites.

Objective:To determine the season in which the eastern Nigeria mistletoe,Loranthus micranthus,parasitic on Persea americana possesses optimum antidiabetic activity and to determine the seasonal variation in the ***:The antidiabetic activities of the aqueous methanol extracts of the leaves of eastern Nigeria mistletoe,Loranthus micranthus, harvested in two seasons of the year,the onset of rainy season(April) and the peak of rainy season(July) were *** tests were carried out on six(6) groups(A-F) of alloxaninduced diabetic *** A and B received 200 mg/kg and 400 mg/kg of the April sample extracts respectively while groups C and D received same doses of the July sample extracts. Group e and F which were the positive and negative controls received 10 mg/kg of glibenclamide and 2 ml/kg of 3%tween 20 *** blood glucose levels of the animals were monitored hourly with a glucometer for six *** phytochemical analysis of the plant extracts were also carried out by standard ***:The results showed that group A and B exhibited significant(Percentage reduction in the fasting blood sugar(FBS) level of the animals(38.9%and 39.2%respectively) with maximum reduction observed at the 5th and 6th hour respectively compared to glibenclamide(71.3%).Group C showed no significant (P>0.05) FBS reduction(15.9%) while group D exhibited highly significant(Peduction (47.5%) with the maximum reduction occurring after 6 *** phytochemical analysis of the crude methanol extracts revealed the presence of carbohydrates,glycosides,saponins, tannins,flavonoids,steroids,terpenoids,acidic compounds,resins and *** were present in different proportions in both ***:This study shows that there is a seasonal, dose-dependent variation in the chemical composition viz-a-viz the antidiabetic activity of the plant under *** activity is highest at the peak of the rainy season.

This paper presents an assessment evaluation of methane gas yield using a derived model based on the hydraulic retention time (HRT) of the feed stock (waste fruits) undergoing biotreatment in the digester. The derived model;γ = e(3.5436 α + 2.0259) indicates an exponential relationship between methane yield and the HRT. Statistical analysis of the model-predicted and experimental gas methane yield for each value of HRT considered shows a standard error of 0.0081 and 0.0114% respectively. Furthermore, the correlation between methane yield and HRT as obtained from derived model and experimental results were evaluated as 0.9716 and 0.9709 respectively. Methane gas yield per unit HRT as obtained from derived model and experiment are 0.0196 and 0.0235 (m3kg-1 VS) days-1 respectively. Deviational analysis indicates that the maximum deviation of the model-predicted methane yield from the corresponding experimental value is less than 16%. It was also found that the validity of the model is rooted on the expression 0.2822 ln γ = α + 0.5717 where both sides of the expression are correspondingly approximately equal.

Adherence to Drug Medications amongst Tuberculosis Patients in a Tertiary Health Institution in South east Nigeria

Tuberculosis remains one of the major health problems in many tropical countries. An estimated eight to ten million people develop overt tuberculosis annually worldwide as a result of primary infection, endogenous reactivation or exogenous re-infection. About half of all patients with TB do not complete treatment and this contributes to prolonged infectiousness, drug resistance, relapse and death. This study is aimed at assessing the adherence of TB patients to anti-TB medications as well as the factors influencing drug adherence in a tertiary health care institution in South-eastern Nigeria. A descriptive cross-sectional study was conducted among 217 TB patients in Nnamdi Azi-kiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi. Information was obtained using a self-administered and interviewer administered semi-structured questionnaire. The mean age of the respondents is 36.1 ± 13.3 years. More of the respondents were females (58.1%), while 41.9% were males. It was observed that 74.2% had never failed to take their anti-TB drugs while 24.2% agreed they had failed to take their drugs. The major reasons for failure to take drugs were no money for transport to collect new drugs and forgetfulness by 32.7% of the respondents respectively. The factors which influenced drug adherence were educational qualification, average monthly income, ill-health as a financial burden and receiving HIV drugs

The research work was based on the study of the corrosion behaviour of the welded and un-welded medium carbon steel in sodium chloride *** Sodium chloride solutions used are 1ml,2ml,3ml and 4ml for both welded and un-welded medium carbon steel in *** experiments were conducted in two ways,the weight loss analyses of measurements and using the electrochemical analyzer workstation to determine the potential dynamic of the *** samples for the weight loss measurements were prepared from rolled products obtained at the foundry *** medium carbon steel materials were sourced with different chemical compositions as sample A and *** materials were prepared to accommodate the experiments for the determination of welded and un-welded medium carbon steel.A total of sixty-eight(68)samples were produced,prepared and used for the weight loss measurements/analyses the ***-four of the samples each were prepared for both the welded and un-welded *** the samples were produced and prepared through the use of various machining processes with the use of a lathe machine for planning,***-four(34)of the sample preparation were further welded in readiness of the ***-eight breakers were sourced for and ***(10)other samples were used for the determination with the use of the electrochemical *** chemical compositions of the medium carbon steel were determined with the use of SPeCTRO Analytical Instruments.A metallurgical inverted optical microscope was used to determine the microstructures of the *** Scanning electron Microscopy with eDS was used to determine the morphologies of the *** thirty-four of the samples were welded this process was performed to determine the effects of welding on the material surrounding the *** materials were made into sizes with the use of power hacksaw(i.e.2cm by 2cm).Other materials were prepared to 1cm x 1cm thickness from the same mater
