Purpose-Hate speech is an expression of intense *** has become a popular analytical tool for the prediction and monitoring of abusive *** speech detection with social media data has witnessed special research attention in recent studies,hence,the need to design a generic metadata architecture and efficient feature extraction technique to enhance hate speech ***/methodology/approach-This study proposes a hybrid embeddings enhanced with a topic inference method and an improved cuckoo search neural network for hate speech detection in Twitter *** proposed method uses a hybrid embeddings technique that includes Term Frequency-Inverse Document Frequency(TF-IDF)for word-level feature extraction and Long Short Term Memory(LSTM)which is a variant of recurrent neural networks architecture for sentence-level feature *** extracted features from the hybrid embeddings then serve as input into the improved cuckoo search neural network for the prediction of a tweet as hate speech,offensive language or ***-The proposed method showed better results when tested on the collected Twitter datasets compared to other related *** order to validate the performances of the proposed method,t-test and post hoc multiple comparisons were used to compare the significance and means of the proposed method with other related methods for hate speech ***,Paired Sample t-Test was also conducted to validate the performances of the proposed method with other related *** limitations/implications-Finally,the evaluation results showed that the proposed method outperforms other related methods with mean F1-score of ***/value-The main novelty of this study is the use of an automatic topic spotting measure based on na€ıve Bayes model to improve features representation.

The dense and erect panicle (EP) genotype conferred by DEP1 has been widely used in the breeding of high-yield Chinese japonica rice ***,the breeding value of the EP genotype has rarely been determined at the plant population ***,the effects of the interaction of EP genotype and the environment at different locations and times on rice yield and its various components were investigated in this *** sets of near-isogenic lines (NILs)of EP and non-EP (NEP) genotypes with Liaojing 5 (LG5) and Akitakomachi (AKI) backgrounds were grown in the field in 2016 and 2017 in Shenyang,China,and Kyoto,*** 2018,these sets were grown only in Kyoto,*** average yields of the EP and NEP genotypes were 6.67 and 6.13 t ha^(-1)for the AKI background,and 6.66 and 6.58 t ha^(-1)for the LG5 background,*** EP genotype positively affected panicle number (PN) and grain number per square meter (GNPM),mostly resulting in a positive effect on harvest index (HI).In contrast,the EP genotype exerted a negative effect on thousand-grain weight (KGW).The ratio of the performance of the EP genotype relative to the NEP genotype in terms of yield and total biomass correlated positively with mean daily solar radiation during a 40-day period around *** results indicate that the effectiveness of the EP genotype depends on the availability of solar radiation,and the effect of this genotype is consistently positive for sink formation,conditional in terms of source capacity,and positive in a high-radiation environment.

Traffic safety and performance measures such as crash risk and queue lengths or travel times are influenced by several important factors including those related to environment,human,and roadway design,especially at *** research has studied different aspects related to these factors,yet these characteristics are not fully investigated with a focus on age and experience of *** this paper,we investigate this issue by using a two-phase approach via a case study application on a critical T-intersection in the City of Tallahassee,*** first phase includes a scenario-based microsimulation analysis through the use of a microscopic simulation software,namely VISSIM,to illustrate the variations in traffic performance measures with respect to driver compositions of different age groups in the traffic stream.A variety of scenarios is created where the driving characteristics are provided as inputs to these scenarios in terms of decision making and risk *** is also supported by a sensitivity analysis conducted based on the driver composition in the *** second phase includes the analysis of microsimulation outputs via a tool developed by Federal Highway Administration tool,namely the Surrogate Safety Assessment Model(SSAM),in order to determine the traffic conflicts that occur in each *** conflicts are also compared with real-life crash data for validation *** show that(a) the differences in risk perception that affect driving behavior might be significant in influencing traffic safety and performance measures,and(b) the proposed approach is considerably successful in simulating the actual crash conflict points.

Background Perioperative mortality is one of the tools that can help to assess the adequacy of healthcare delivery in a *** audit was conducted to determine the 24-hour,7-day and 30-day perioperative mortality rates and the predictors of mortality in a pediatric surgical *** This was a prospective study of children whose ages ranged from a few hours to 15 years and who were operated on between May 2019 and April *** primary outcome was to determine the incidence of in-hospital perioperative *** A total of 530 procedures were done in 502 *** ages ranged from a few hours to 15 years with a median of 36 *** 24-hour,7-day and 30-day mortality rates were 113.2 per 10000 procedures[95%confidence interval(CI)=40 to 210],207.6 per 10000 procedures(95%CI=110 to 320)and 320.8 per 10000 procedures(95%CI=190 to 470),*** anomalies complicated by postoperative sepsis contributed to death in the majority of *** predictors of mortality were neonatal age group[adjusted odds ratio(AOR)=19.92,95%CI=2.32 to 170.37,p=0.006],higher American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status III and above(AOR=21.6,95%CI=3.05 to 152.91,p=0.002),emergency surgery(AOR=17.1,95%CI=5.21 to 60.27,p=0.001),congenital anomalies(AOR=12.7,95%CI=3.37 to 47.52,p=0.001),and multiple surgical procedures(AOR=9.7,95%CI=2.79 to 33.54,p=0.001).Conclusion Perioperative mortality remains high in our institution.

Seasonal variations in environmental conditions can have significant influence on flowering pattern and yield of roses. Evaluation studies were conducted to determine the flowering pattern and yield determinants of two Hybrid Tea rose cultivars in response to seasonal variations under rain-fed conditions. The 2 × 2 × 4 factorial experiment arranged in split plot design at three replications was conducted at two seasons (dry and wet) using two cultivars (cv. “Immaculate” and “P.H. Baby”, white and red flowers respectively) supplied with poultry manure (PM) application rates at 5, 10 and 20 t/ha where the unfertilized (0 t/ha) served as control. The result showed that the year two environmental conditions of both experiment I and II significantly improved plant height, number of leaves, number of buds (CNB) and opened flowers (CNF) and flower yield (FYD). “Immaculate” was significantly (p ≤ 0.05) taller with more leaves but thinner girth. Although generally lower in NF/NB, and not different in FYD, the “P.H. Baby” had more flowers (CNB and CNF) in experiment I. Except for no significant difference in FYD and lower NF/NB recorded by all manure rates compared to control in experiment II, plants treated with 5 t/ha PM recorded more flowers (CNB and CNF). Significant first and second order interaction effects (p ≤ 0.05) showed that “Immaculate” had taller height and more leaves but “P.H. Baby” had more CNB and CNF, although both were not different in FYD. In addition, plants supplied with 5 t/ha PM rates were better in plant height, number of leaves, CNB and CNF compared to other manure rates. In conclusion, year two environmental conditions supported better crop growth and yield, “Immaculate” grew better vegetatively but both were not different in floral yield, while the 5 t/ha PM was considered the optimum manure application rate under the rain-fed condition.

Analysis of the Trend of Peri-Urban Development in Minna, Niger State

Current situation of development in Minna has raised many spatial challenges especially in the peri-urban areas. This study analyzed the spatial development of Minna between 1972 and 2015, with a view to determining the trend at which the peri-urban area changes over time. Minna topographical map of 1972, township map of 1979 and the satellite imageries covering 1986, 1996, 2006 and 2015 were employed in this study. Map processing and image classification techniques were used in extracting the information needed. The study revealed that there was over 2000% increase in the built-up area of Minna within the period understudied. This implies that the peri-urban areas of Minna by 2015 had grown about thirty-two times its size in 1972;thirteen its size in 1979;thrice its size in 1986 and 1996, respectively;and twice of its size in 2006, but, with an increased rate of uncoordinated and unplanned development. It concluded that the planning and development of Minna peri-urban areas should not be left to chance or the interplay of economic variables, but should be guided by strategies that will ensure orderly growth and development. It therefore recommended that the government through the statutory agencies should initiate a strategic development plan proposal known as Peri-urban Area Strategic Development Plans (PuASDP), which is to guide and control every spatial development activities in the peri-urban areas.

In this study, the thermo-elastic effects of frictional heat generation in a disc brake system due to braking actions were simulated. The mathematical model that defined the problem was developed from the kinetic and potential energies of moving vehicles on the gradient surfaces. This problem was solved for the selected geometry of disc brake and pad with their material properties selected from existing literatures using the finite element method and the computational results were obtained. The thermal deformation obtained was in good agreement with similar literature results. Also, for the same braking period and conditions, the results showed that a vehicle ascending a hill gave a higher temperature rise, Von Mises stress and thermal deformation on brake contact surfaces than when descending hill. Therefore, the braking period required to bring a moving vehicle in ascendent motion to a lower speed is expected to be shorter because of the gravity effect than horizontal motion, while descendent motion requires longer braking period.

An Assessment of the Relationship between Built Environment and Socioeconomic Factors with the Incidence of Meningococcal Meningitis in Kaduna Urban Area, Nigeria

Meningococcal meningitis is an airborne disease that has been a threat to human life in many regions of the world, especially in West Africa. The disease has caused permanent physical impairment to some of its victims and many lives have been lost due to the disease. Factors that are associated with the incidence of the disease which are geographically referenced include built environment, geographical location and climatic conditions. Others are socioeconomic and demographic factors. This study established the relationship between built environment and socioeconomic factors with the incidence of the disease. Data that were used include the incidences of the disease from 2007 to 2011, housing conditions, population density, number of house ownership, employment, income level, and the number of hospitals, schools and refuse dumps. Neighborhoods were used as the unit of analysis in the study. The method of analyzing the data includes factor analysis and some statistical techniques in Geographical Information System such as the Ordinary Least Square (OLS). The findings of the study reveal the spatial variations of the incidence of Meningococcal meningitis in Kaduna Urban Area (KUA). The study recommends that there should be strict observance of the development control regulations especially at the high density residential neighborhood. The model can also be used for other communicable disease to ensure the health of the public.

Essential oil （EO） of Nigeria-grown Lippia adoensis leaf was analyzed using gas chromatography mass spectrometry （GCMS） and its fumigant and repellent properties against Callosobruchus maculatus were evaluated. Sixteen compounds predominated by monoterpenes were identified. The major compounds were Eucalyptol （28.36%）, α-Terpineol （25.99%）, γ-Terpinene （15.24%）, α-Pinene （5.08%）, 1H-Cyclopropa[a]naphthalene （4.25%） and 1, 3, 6, 10-Dodeeatetraene （3.74%）. Percentage mortality due to fumigant toxicity was dose- and exposure period-dependent. One hour after treatment （HAT）, application of L. adoensis leaf EO at 107 μL· L^-1 air caused significantly （p〈0.05） higher mortality （50.00%） than 0.00% mortality observed at 0-53 μL· L^-1 air, but not significantly （p〉0.05） different from 22.50% observed in 80 μL· L^-1 air. At 3 HAT, application ofL. adoensis EO at 80 μL· L^-1 air caused significantly higher mortality （90.00 %） than mortality observed at 0 μL· L^-1 air. At 6 HAT, application of L. adoensis EO at 53-107 μL· L^-1 air caused significantly higher mortality （100.00 %） than that was observed in the control. The same trend was observed at 12 HAT where 100 % mortality observed in 27-107 μL· L^-1 air was significantly greater than 13.33 % observed in the control. At 3 HAT, percentage repellence was significantly （p〈0.05） affected by doses. Application of EO at 10-30 μL· cm^2 caused class V repellence （86.67%-100%） compared with the control which caused class I repellence （0-20%）.
