Power-electronic devices are widely used in various applications, such as voltage and frequency control for transmitting and converting electric power. As these devices are becoming increasingly important, there is a need to reduce their losses and improve their performance to reduce electric power consumption. Current power semiconductor devices, such as inverters, are made of silicon (Si), but the performance of these Si power devices is reaching its limit due to physical properties and energy bandgap. To address this issue, recent developments in wide bandgap (WBG) semiconductor materials, such as silicon carbide (SiC) and gallium nitride (GaN), offer the potential for a new generation of power semiconductor devices that can perform significantly better than silicon-based devices. In this research, a green synthesized copper-zinc-tin-sulfide (CZTS) nanoparticle is proposed as a new WBG semiconductor material that could be used for optical and electronic devices. Its synthesis, consisting of the production methods and materials used, is discussed. The characterization is also discussed, and further research is recommended in the later sections to enable the continual advancement of this technology.

Anti-Corrosion and Tribo-Mechanical Properties of Co-deposited Zn–SnO_2 Composite Coating

Zn-SnO2 composite coatings were prepared by direct potential using electrolytic co-deposition technique from sulfate solution. The effect of Zn2＋ and SnO2 concentrations in deposited bath on the mechanical properties and mor- phological characteristics of the composite coatings were examined. The characterizations of the sample were analyzed using scanning electron microscopy couple with energy dispersive spectroscopy （SEM/EDS）, X-ray diffraction （XRD） and atomic force microscopy （AFM）. The electrochemical degradation behavior of the samples in 3.65 wt.% NaCl solution was studied using potentiodynamic polarization technique and characterized by high-resolution optical microscope. From all the fabricated composite coatings, obvious diffraction peaks were observed with Zn-7Sn-S-0.3V film with Zn2Sn7, Sn, Zn2Sn5 and Zn phases, confirming the presence and formation of Zn-SnO2 coating. The XRD pattern shows that the presences of SnO2 particle remarkably play a maj.r role in the precipitation and orientation of the alloy matrix. From the SEM/EDS and AFM results, the deposits show that composite particle and proper bath composition have strong influence on the microstructure. An enhanced corrosion resistance was attained as a result of the induced particles.

Improvements of wear and corrosion properties are essential characteristic in engineering application. A study was made on the structure, electro-oxidation and properties of fabricated Zn-Al-SnO 2-Ti O2（Zn-Al-Sn-Ti） thin films using electrodeposition technique from chloride bath. The microstructural studies were performed by scanning electron microscopy with attached energy dispersive spectrometer（SEM-EDS）, optical microscopy（OPM） and X-ray diffractogram（XRD）. The electrochemical oxidation and erosion behavior in 3.65% Na Cl medium were studied by potentiodynamic polarization technique and characterized by atomic force microscopy（AFM）. The hardness and wear behavior of the electrodeposited film were performed by high diamond dura scan microhardness tester and CERT UMT-2 reciprocating sliding machine. It was found that a successful co-deposition of composite and particle were attained. Homogeneous imbedded grain structure distribution and fine refinement of crystal with improved micromechanical behavior was achieved. The corrosion resistance, hardness and wear stability resistance of the fabricated quaternary films improved significantly in all varied process parameter.

Perioperative mortality in children in a tertiary teaching hospital in Nigeria: a prospective study

Background Perioperative mortality is one of the tools that can help to assess the adequacy of healthcare delivery in a *** audit was conducted to determine the 24-hour,7-day and 30-day perioperative mortality rates and the predictors of mortality in a pediatric surgical *** This was a prospective study of children whose ages ranged from a few hours to 15 years and who were operated on between May 2019 and April *** primary outcome was to determine the incidence of in-hospital perioperative *** A total of 530 procedures were done in 502 *** ages ranged from a few hours to 15 years with a median of 36 *** 24-hour,7-day and 30-day mortality rates were 113.2 per 10000 procedures[95%confidence interval(CI)=40 to 210],207.6 per 10000 procedures(95%CI=110 to 320)and 320.8 per 10000 procedures(95%CI=190 to 470),*** anomalies complicated by postoperative sepsis contributed to death in the maj.rity of *** predictors of mortality were neonatal age group[adj.sted odds ratio(AOR)=19.92,95%CI=2.32 to 170.37,p=0.006],higher American Society of Anesthesiologists Physical Status III and above(AOR=21.6,95%CI=3.05 to 152.91,p=0.002),emergency surgery(AOR=17.1,95%CI=5.21 to 60.27,p=0.001),congenital anomalies(AOR=12.7,95%CI=3.37 to 47.52,p=0.001),and multiple surgical procedures(AOR=9.7,95%CI=2.79 to 33.54,p=0.001).Conclusion Perioperative mortality remains high in our institution.

Effect of functional composite coating developed via sulphate and chloride process parameter on the UNS G10150 steel for structural and wear mitigation in defence application

The maj.r engineering challenge of materials in defence technologies is the vulnerability of based metals to structural and wears deformation in service. In this paper, structural formation, mechanical and thermal stability behavior of developed composite coating of Zn-30 Al-7%Ti/Sn chloride bath and Zn-30 Al-7%Ti/Sn sulphate bath was investigated and compared to provide mitigation against failure. The thermal ageing property was done for 2 h at 600C via isothermal furnace. The structural, interfacial effect and stability behaviors of the co-deposited alloys were evaluated using scanning electron microscope equipped with energy dispersive spectrometer(SEM/EDS), atomic force microscope(AFM) and Xray diffractometer(XRD). The hardness and wear properties of the deposited coatings were examined with diamond base micro-hardness tester and reciprocating sliding tester respectively. The result shows that Zn-30 Al-7%Ti/Sn sulphate co-deposition contributed to increase hardness and wear resistance than Zn-30 Al-7%Ti/Sn chloride bath alloy. The stable crystal growth and significant performance of Zn-30 Al-7%Ti/Sn sulphate are link to the intermetallic phase hybrid of Zn Al, Zn4 Ti Al2, Zn3 Al Ti. Besides, it was observed that Zn-30 Al-7%Ti/Sn sulphate has excellent thermomechanical stability at harsh temperature,due to the deposition of Sn/Ti on steel; leading to formation of super-hard interface. However, it was established that co-deposition of mild steel with Zn-30 Al-7%Ti/Sn in sulphate bath significantly improved the structural and wear performance. It was shown that the hardness and wear of the developed composite Zn-30 Al-7%Ti/Sn is increased by about 80% compared to as received sample and about 25% compared with Zn-30 Al-7%Ti/Sn chloride coating developed. The improvement was proved to be an interference of zinc-composite growth. Effects of Planting Methods and Seed Density on Vegetable Yield and Nutrient Composition of <i>Solanum macrocarpon</i>and <i>Solanum scabrum</i>in Southwest Nigeria

Two field studies were carried out using Solanum macrocarpon and Solanum scabrum to investigate the effects of planting methods and seed density required for optimum biomass yield and nutrient content in southwest Nigeria. Two planting methods (drilling and broadcasting), and two seed densities (4 and 8 table spoon full) were investigated as a 2×2×3 factorial experiment in randomized complete block design and replicated three times. Four seed spoons gave 25.78 kg seeds ha-1 for S. macrocarpon and 20.67 kg·seeds·ha-1 for S. scabrum. Significant highest S. macrocarpon shoots (2.75 kg·m-2) and Ca, K, Fe and Zn contents and S. scabrum (2.95 kg·m-2) and Zn content, were obtained with drilling and four spoons of seeds compared with broadcasting and 8 spoons of seeds. This treatment gave average values for N, P, K, Mg, Ca, Na, Fe, Zn, Mn, Cu, Ca/P and Na/K ratio were 2.79%, 0.03%, 3.37%, 1.64%, 0.02%, 300 mg·kg-1, 100 mg·kg-1, 300 mg·kg-1, 8 mg·kg-1, 1.22 and 0.008 for S. macrocarpon and 2.05%, 0.27%, 5.81%, 3.27%, 2.91%, 0.09%, 280 mg·kg-1, 52.99 mg·kg-1, 359.35 mg·kg-1 and 22.42 mg·kg-1, 11.63 and 0.016 for S. scabrum. It was concluded that planting in drilling made weeding, fertilizer application, irrigation and harvesting more effective rather than by broadcasting, and four spoons of seeds per 9 m-2 produced deep green and broader leaves and balanced nutrient contents than eight spoons of seeds.

This paper reviews the latest research progress in the additive manufacturing(AM)process of 18%nickel maraging steels,which involves laser-based powder bed fusion(L-PBF),laser-based directed energy deposition(L-DED),and wire arc additive manufacturing(WAAM).The emphasis is on the defects,structure,and mechanical properties of the additive manufactured 18%nickel maraging *** first,this article outlines the influences of the processing parameters of AM techniques on the defects formed in the fabricated parts,in terms of the L-PBF and *** macrostructure and microstructure characteristics of as-built and heat-treated 18%nickel maraging steel are then described in ***,the mechanical properties of as-built and heat-treated 18%nickel maraging steel are assessed,such as their tensile,hardness,impact toughness,and fatigue ***,future directions for work on the AM of 18%nickel maraging steel are provided.

This paper studies the friction stir spot welding of AA2024-T3/AA7075-T6 Al alloys in the ambient and underwater environments by clarifying the nugget features,microstructure,fracture and mechanical properties of the *** results show that the water-cooling medium exhibits a significant heat absorption capacity in the AA2024-T3/AA7075-T6 welded *** features such as stir zone width,circular imprints,average grain sizes,and angular inter-material hooking are reduced by the watercooling effect in the *** whitish(intercalated structures)bands are formed in the underwater j.ints while Mg2Si and Al2CuMg precipitates are formed in the ambient and the underwater welded j.ints *** increase in tool rotational speed(600e1400 rpm)and plunge depth(0.1 e0.5 mm)increases the tensile-shear force of the welded AA2024-T3/AA7075-T6 j.ints in both the ambient and underwater *** maximum tensile-shear forces of 5900 N and 6700 N were obtained in the ambient and the underwater welds respectively.

Sequence stratigraphy and depositional sequence interpretation:A case study of“George”Field,offshore Niger Delta,Nigeria

The seismic sequence stratigraphic analysis revealed four depositional sequences(DS-1,DS-2,DS-3 and DS-4).The accompanying systems tracts were interpreted and mapped in the study area based on the log motifs of the reference well and the spatial distribution of the recognized constrained surfaces:maximum flooding surfaces(MFSs),sequence boundaries(SBs)and transgressive surfaces(TSs)on the seismic *** systems in the study area comprise lowstand systems tracts(LSTs),transgressive systems tracts(TSTs)and highstand systems tracts(HSTs).The LSTs are represented by coeval facies dominated by deposition basinward of the shelf-edge during maximum regression and are characterized by shallow-water deposition from gravity flows and/or traction processes within the shelf-edge or canyon-head *** sediments associated with lowstand systems tracts recognized in the study area are the fluvial channel sands and slope fans(SF).The transgressive sand units were interpreted as shoreface sands deposited in the shelf region during rising sea *** systems tracts are characterized by intervals of coarsening and shallowing upwards,with both fluvial and deltaic sands prograding laterally into neritic *** the study area,the units are very *** highstand and lowstand system tracts exhibit blocky log patterns and are associated with the reservoirs while the transgressive system tracts serve as seals to the *** environment of sediments deposition in this area is delta plain,shelf,slope to toe of slope.
