Taking copper doped ZnS(ZnS:Cu)nanocrystals as the main body of photocatalyst,the influence of different base transition metal ions(M^(2+)=Ni^(2+),Co^(2+),Fe^(2+)and Cd^(2+))on photocatalytic CO_(2)reduction in inorganic reaction system is *** single-atom Ni^(2+),Co^(2+),and Cd^(2+)sites were created via cation-exchange process and enhanced CO_(2)reduction,while Fe^(2+)suppressed the photocatalytic activity for both water and CO_(2)*** modified ZnS:Cu photocatalysts(M/ZnS:Cu)demonstrated tunable product selectivity,with Ni^(2+)and Co^(2+)showing high selectivity for syngas production and Cd^(2+)displaying remarkable formate *** calculations indicated favorable H adsorption free energy on Ni^(2+)and Co^(2+)sites,promoting the hydrogen evolution *** selectivity of CO_(2)reduction products was found to be sensitive to the initial intermediate adsorption states.*COOH formed on Ni^(2+)and Co^(2+)while*OCHO formed on Cd^(2+),favoring the production of CO and HCOOH as the main products,*** work provides valuable insights for developing efficient solar-to-fuel platforms with controlled CO_(2)reduction selectivity.

No reports have described experiments designed to determine the strength characteristics of spinal nerve roots and rami radiculares for the purpose of explaining the complexity of symptoms of medullary cone lesions and cauda equina syndrome. In this study, to explain the pathogenesis of cauda equina syndrome, monoaxial tensile tests were performed to determine the strength characteristics of spinal nerve roots and rami radiculares, and analysis was conducted to evaluate the stress-strain relationship and strength characteristics. Using the same tensile test device, the nerve root and ramus radiculares isolated from the spinal cords of pigs were subjected to the tensile test and stress relaxation test at load strain rates of 0.1, 1, 10, and 100 s-1 under identical settings. The tensile strength of the nerve root was not rate dependent, while the ramus radiculares tensile strength tended to decrease as the strain rate increased. These findings provide important insights into cauda equina symptoms, radiculopathy, and clinical symptoms of the medullary cone.

To treat postoperative bleeding after hepato-pancreato-biliary surgery, interventional radiology has become essential. We report a case of coincidental pseudoan-eurysm and jejunal varices that were both successfully treated by stent-grafts. After a pancreaticoduodenec-tomy, the patient developed a pseudoaneurysm in the hepatic artery and a stenosis in its periphery. After establishing hepatic arterial flow by placing stent-grafts over both the pseudoaneurysm and the stenosis, the pseudoaneurysm was embolized with microcoils. Nine months later, the patient developed jejunal varices caused by a severe stricture in the main trunk of the portal vein. Percutaneous transhepatic portography was performed and stent-grafts were placed over the stenotic segment. A venoplasty using stent-grafts nor-malized the portal blood flow and the jejunal varices vanished. Although stenosis occurred due to scarred tissues from leakage after pancreaticoduodenectomy, stent-grafts were useful for managing jejunal bleeding post-operatively.

Vacancies are prevalent and versatile in solid-state physics and materials *** role of vacancies in strongly correlated materials,however,remains uncultivated until ***,we report the discovery of an unprecedented vacancy state forming an extended buckled-honeycomb-vacancy(BHV)ordering in *** emerges by suppressing the BHV ordering through squeezing of extra Ir atoms into the vacancies or isovalent Rh *** phase diagram on vacancy ordering reveals the superconductivity competes with the BHV *** theoretical calculations suggest that this ordering originates from a synergistic effect of the vacancy formation energy and Fermi surface nesting with a wave vector of(1/3,1/3,0).The buckled structure breaks the crystal inversion symmetry and can mostly suppress the density of states near the Fermi *** peculiarities of BHV ordering highlight the importance of"correlated vacancies"and may serve as a paradigm for exploring other non-trivial excitations and quantum criticality.

(Pro)renin receptor [(P)RR], a receptor for renin and prorenin, was first cloned in 2002. Since then, the pathophysiological roles of(P)RR have been growing concerns.(P)RR binds renin and prorenin, with two important consequences, nonproteolytic activation of prorenin, leading to the tissue renin-angiotensin system activation and the intracellular signalings. It is now also known to play an important role as vacuolar H+-ATPase associated protein, involving in Wnt signaling, main component of embryonic development. Extracellular domain of full-length(P)RR is cleaved in golgi-complex forming soluble(P)RR [s(P)RR]. The s(P)RR is now possible to be measured in human blood and urine. It is now measured in different pathophysiological states, and recent study showed that elevated plasma s(P)RR levels in the early stage of pregnancies are associated with higher incidence of gestational diabetes mellitus later in the pregnancies. Plasma s(P)RR levels of neonates are known to be higher than that of adults. It was also shown that, increased s(P)RR concentrations in cord blood, associated with a lower small for gestational age birth likelihood. These data suggests the involvement of(P)RR in embryo's growth. In thisreview article, we attempt to figure out the possible pathophysiological roles of the(P)RR in maternal glucose intolerance and embryo's growth, through reviewing previous studies.

Prorenin receptor （PRR） is a multi-functioning protein possessing at least four different roles：（1） working as a receptor for renin and prorenin producing angiotensin I from angiotensinogen thus enhancing the tissue renin-angiotensin system; （2） inducing intracellular signals when a ligand binds to PRR; （3） participating in the functions of vacuolar proton ATPase; and （4） constitut-ing the Wnt signaling receptor complex. Here, the roles of PRR in kidney physiology and diabetic conditions as well as recent fndings regarding a soluble form of PRR are discussed. We also propose the possible mechanism concerning diabetic nephropathy as “trade-off hypothe-sis” from a PRR point of view. In brief, under hypergly-cemic conditions, injured podocytes degrade degener-ated proteins and intracellular organelles which require V-ATPase and PRR for vesicle internal acidification. Sustained hyperglycemia overproduces PRR molecules, which are transported to the transmembrane and bind to increased serum prorenin in the diabetic condition. This enhances tissue renin-angiotensin system and PRR-mediated mitogen-activated protein kinase signals, resulting in increased injurious molecules such as transforming growth factor-β, cyclooxygenase2, interleukin1β, and tumor necrosis factor-α ending in diabetic ne-phropathy progression. Although many fndings led us to better PRR understanding, future works should elu-cidate which PRR functions, of the four discussed here, are dominant in each cell and kidney disease context.

Objective: To disclose the nature of RBI germline mutations in Chinese and to develop a practical and effective way for mutational screening. Methods: Leukocyte DNA was prepared from 8 Chinese patients with hereditary retinoblastoma. PCR combined with nonisotopic heteroduplex-SSCP analysis was used to screen leukocyte DNA for RBI germline mutations, exon-by-exon, without the use of restriction endonuclease digestion. The mutations were finally identified by sequencing. In order to testify the effectiveness of this method, the same method was used to detect other 17 samples which have been previously analyzed by other methods. Results: Heterozygous germline mutations were detected in the leukocyte DNA of 6 out of 8 Chinese patients;G del/codon 46,T del/codon 131 ,CAGAA del/condon 257 -258, GCAgta→GCAgca/donor of exon 16, C@T/codon 661, and C→T/codon 787.
