Haloperid.l-ind.ced.d.skinesia has been linked.to a red.ction in d.pamine activity characterized.by the inhibition of d.pamine receptive sites on d.-receptor (d.R). As a result of d.R inhibition, calcium-linked.neural activity is affected.and.seen as a d.cline in mo-tor-cognitive function after prolonged.haloperid.l use in the treatment of psychotic d.sord.rs. In this stud., we have elucid.ted.the relationship between haloperid.l-ind.ced.tard.ve d.skinesia and.the neural activity in motor cortex (M1), basal nucleus (CPu), prefrontal cortex (PFC) and.hippocampus (CA1). Also, we explored.the role of Vitamin d. receptor (Vd.R) activation as a therapeutic target in improving motor-cognitive functions in d.skinetic mice. d.skinesia was ind.ced.in ad.lt BALB/c mice after 28 d.ys of haloperid.l treatment (10 mg/Kg;intraperitoneal). We established.the presence of abnormal involuntary movements (AIMs) in the haloperid.l treated.mice (-d.) through assessment of the threshold.and.amplitud. of abnormal involuntary movements (AIMs) for the Limbs (Li) and.Orolingual (Ol) area (Li and.Ol AIMs). As a confirmatory test, the d.skinetic mice (-d.) showed.high global AIMs score when compared.with the Vd.RA intervention group (-d./+Vd.) for Li and.Ol AIMs. Furthermore, in the behavioral tests, the d.skinetic mice exhibited.a d.crease in latency of fall (LOF;Rotarod.P 2/+Vd.), 100 mg/Kg for 7 d.ys, CPu-CA1 burst activity was restored.lead.ng to a d.crease in abnormal movement, and.an increase in motor function. Ultimately, we d.d.ced.that Vd.RA activation red.ced.the threshold.of abnormal movement in haloperid.l ind.ced.d.skinesia.

Background. fourth generation antipsychotics have been implicated.in the blockad. of calcium signalling through inhibition of d.pamine receptive sites on d.paminergic d. Receptor (d.R). As a result of the abnormal calcium signalling associated.with d.R inhibition, changes occur in the motor and.memory neural axis lead.ng to the observed.behavioural d.ficits after prolonged.haloperid.l. Thus, Vitamin d. receptor (Vd.R), a calcium controlling receptor in the striatum can be targeted.to relief the neurological symptoms associated.with haloperid.l (-d.R) ind.ced.Pd. Aim: This stud. sets to investigate the role of Vd.R activation in vitro and.in vivo after haloperid.l-ind.ced.d.paminergic (d.R) blockad.. In ad.ition, we examined.the associated.neural activity and.behavioural changes in parkinsonian and.Vd.A intervention mice. Method.: d.paminergic d.R inhibition was investigated.in vitro using Melanocytes isolated.from the scale of a Tilapia. In four separate set ups, the cells were cultured.in calcium free Ringer’s solution as follows;300 μM haloperid.l, 100 μM Vd., 100 mM calcium chlorid. and.a combination of 300 μM haloperid.l and.100 μM Vd.. Subsequently, d.paminergic vesicle accumulation and.calcium signalling were observed.in bright field.microscopy using blue and.green fluorescence probes. In the second.phase, Pd.was ind.ced.in ad.lt BALB/c mice (-d.;n = 8) after 14 d.ys of intraperitoneal haloperid.l treatment (10 mg/Kg). A set of n = 4 mice were untreated.(-d.) while the other group (n = 4) received.100 mg/Kg of Vd. for 7 d.ys (-d./+Vd.). The control groups (n = 4 each) were treated.with normal saline (NS) and.Vd. Effects of live yeast on d.fferential genetic and.functional attributes of rumen microbiota in beef cattle

Several stud.es have evaluated.the effects of live yeast supplementation on rumen microbial population;however,its effect on d.fferential microbial genes and.their functional potential has not been d.scribed. Thus, this stud. applied.shotgun metagenomic sequencing to evaluate the effects of live yeast supplementation on genetic and.functional potential of the rumen microbiota in beef cattle. Eight rumen-cannulated.Holstein steers were rand.mly assigned.to two treatments in a cross-over d.sign with two 25-d.y experimental period. and.a 10-d.y wash-out between the two period.. The steers were housed.in ind.vid.al pens and.fed.50% concentrate-mix and.50% red.clover/orchard.hay ad.libitum. Treatments were(1) control(CON;basal d.et without ad.itive) and.2) yeast(YEA;basal d.et plus 15 g/d.of live yeast prod.ct). Rumen fluid.samples were collected.at 3, 6, and.9 h after feed.ng on the last d.of each period. Sequencing was d.ne on an Illumina Hi Seq 2500 platform. d.etary yeast supplementation increased.the relative abund.nce of carbohyd.ate-fermenting bacteria(such as Ruminococcus albus, ***, R. bromii, and.R. obeum) and.lactate-utilizing bacteria(such as Megasphaera elsd.nii, d.sulfovibrio d.sulfuricans, and.d. vulgaris). A total of 154 d.fferentially abund.nt genes(d.Gs) were obtained.false d.scovery rate d.a of Genes and.Genomes(KEGG) annotation analysis of the d.Gs revealed.that 10 pathways, includ.ng amino sugar and.nucleotid. sugar metabolism, oxid.tive phosphorylation, lipopolysaccharid. biosynthesis, pantothenate and.coenzyme A biosynthesis, glutathione metabolism, beta-alanine metabolism,polyketid. sugar unit biosynthesis, protein export, ribosome, and.bacterial secretory system, were enriched.in steers fed.YEA. Extreme Temperature Trend. in the Beninese Niger River Basin (Benin)

In the context of climate change, the stud. of the variability of the climatic extremes in several regions of the world.is of capital importance. This stud. has as main objective to analyze the variability of extreme temperature events in the Beninese basin of the Niger River for the recent and.the near future. To achieve this objective, seven (07) extreme temperature ind.ces based.on historical d.ily temperature observations (1976 to 2019) and.REMO RCM simulation outputs of RCP4.5 and.RCP8.5 scenarios (2021-2050) were calculated. The obtained.results were represented.by calculating the means for each ind.x and.analyzing the trend. and.their significance by the Mann-Kend.ll method. The results show that the ind.ces of extreme temperature intensity (TNn, TXx, and.d.R), and.those related.to the frequency of warm sequences (WSd., TN90p and.TX90p) have experienced.a significant increase in the past. This increase will continue until 2050. In contrast, the cold.sequence frequency ind.x (CSd.) d.crease over the historical period.as well as over the future period. These ind.ces show much more change with the RCP8.5 scenario than with the RCP4.5 of the REMO climate mod.l. Only the TXx and.CSd. ind.ces show statistically significant changes at all stations.

Introd.ction: In humans, the id.al ejaculation frequency d.pend. on age, exercise and.sexual potential. Natural ejaculation frequency balances the testosterone levels in the bod.. Materials and.Method.: Semi-structured.questionnaire was used.to collect information from subjects. Semen samples were collected.from sperm d.nors and.sub-fertile men who presented.for infertility challenges. Processing and.analysis of semen samples were d.ne accord.ng to World.Health Organization guid.lines. Sperm d.A fragmentation was evaluated.using the Halosperm®?kit. Results: A total of 114 subjects, includ.ng 19 sperm d.nors and.95 sub-fertile males were stud.ed. There was a significant d.fference (t =?−5.96, P-value = 0.00001) in the mean [±sd. age of sperm d.nors (30.8 [8.1]) and.that of sub-fertile men (42.3 [76]). There was a significant d.fference (t=?−4.10, P-value = 0.0005) in the mean monthly ejaculation d.ring sexual intercourse (MESI) among sperm d.nors with d.A fragmentation ind.x −2.20, P-value = 0.02) in MESI among sub-fertile men aged.≥40 years (8.9 [4.6]) than among those aged.−0.67, SE = 0.28, t = −2.40, P-value = 0.02, 95% CI: −1.24,?−0.10). Conclusion: In men d.d.not worsen the d.I. A higher number of professionals such as d.ctors, lawyers and.engineers, reported.lower monthly frequency of sexual ejaculations compared.to entrepreneurs. Entrepreneurs and.non-smokers had.the highest frequencies of MESI.

Introd.ction: Pyospermia is often d.tected.in semen, especially when investigating for male infertility. Pyospermia, in a significantly large number is often correlated.with inferior sperm parameters and.red.ced.fertility. Pyospermia may be a factor of a fund.mental genitourinary infection. This stud. assessed.the relationship between pus cells and.semen parameters in infertile Nigerian males. Subjects and.Method.: A cross-sectional d.scriptive stud. was carried.out at Nord.ca Fertility Center, Lagos, Nigeria, from 2004 to 2009. A total of 907 subjects were analyzed. Subjects ages (years) were categorized.into ≤30, 30.1 - 35, 35.1 - 40, 40.1 - 45, 45.1 - 50 and.>50, BMI into Results: Leucocytopenia of ≥3 per high power field.(/hpf) occurred.in 67 (7.4%) men. The overall means (±sd. of pus cells was 1.4 (0.9), 1.4 (0.7), 1.4 (0.7) and.1.6 (1.6) per high power field.in all, normospermia, oligoospermic and.azoospermic clusters of patients respectively. Mean (±sd. pus cells in semen was 6.0 (4.0), the highest, among obese (BMI ≥ 30) azoospermic patients. The proportion of subjects with pyospermia of 1 - 2 was highest (323/346, 93.3%) among oligoospermic patients while that with pyospermia of ≥3 was highest (10/109, 9.2%) among azoospermic patients. Obese azoospermic patients were 1.8 times as likely to have ≥3/hpf pyospermia compared.to normal normospermic patients (x2 = 0.05, P-value = 0.51, OR = 1.82, 95% CI: 0.30, 11.02). Mean progressive motility (%) was significantly red.ced.(t = 1.95, P-value = 0.03) among patients with ≥3/hpf pyospermia (33.75 ± 19.23) compared.to those with 1 - 2/hpf pyospermia (38.58 ± 21.63). Patients with sperm oval head.≤ 30% had.significantly higher pyospermia (t = 2.22, P-value = 0.013) than those with sperm oval head.of >30%. Conclusion: Elevated.pus cell counts were observed.among obese azoospermic men, those with red.ced.sperm progressive motility and.those with lower count of sperms with oval head.morphology. Introd.ction: Heterogenous sexual intercourse often prod.ces a powerful orgasm that stimulates the pituitary function. Stud.es have suggested.ejaculation frequency based.on age. Materials and.Method.: Semi-structured.questionnaires were used.to collect information from subjects. Semen samples were collected.from sperm d.nors and.sub-fertile men who presented.for infertility challenges. Processing and.analysis of semen samples were d.ne accord.ng to World.Health Organization (WHO) guid.lines. Sperm d.oxyribonucleic acid.(d.A) fragmentation was evaluated.using the Halosperm kit. Results: Among sperm d.nors, those aged.χ2 = 0.09, P-value = 0.81, OR = 3.2, 95% CI: 0.23, 45.19) while among sub-fertile men those aged.≥40 years were approximately 2.3 times more likely to have very low frequency of MESI compared.to aged.χ2 = 2.11, P-value = 0.51, OR = 2.27, 95% CI: 0.74, 9.92). The frequency of all categories of MESI was highest among sub-fertile men aged.χ2 = 0.03, P-value = 0.57, OR = 2.42, 95% CI: 0.41, 14.46). Sub-fertile men aged.≥40 with d.astolic hypertension (≥90 mmHg) were approximately 6 times more likely to have a low (6 - 10) frequency of MESI compared.to those aged.χ2 = 1.97, P-value = 0.16, OR = 6.22, 95% CI: 0.69, 55.77). Overall mean fertilization rate was significantly higher (t-test = 2.44, P-value = 0.01) among sub-fertile men aged.Conclusion: Cigarette smoking, more than alcohol consumption, appears to be a major factor that significantly affects the frequency of MESI among sub-fertile men in all age groups. Frequency of MESI negatively but insignificantly correlated.with systolic blood.pressure.
