OBJECTIVE:Accumulation of advanced glycation end products(AGEs) in the body due to the non-enzymatic glycation of proteins and oxidation is associated with aging and diabetes mellitus.In this study we wanted to investigate the antiglycation and antioxidation potential of two medicinal plants:Juglans regia and Calendula officinalis.METHODS:In-vitro investigation was carried out to discover the antiglycation and antioxidation potential of J.regia and C.officinalis.Using an Ultraviolet Double-beam Spectrophotometer,we evaluated the antiglycation property of the crude methanolic extracts of J.regia and C.officinalis by assessing their ability to inhibit the Maillard reaction.Employing the same instrument we also measured the antioxidation potential of these plant extracts using the nitric oxide(NO) free radical-scavenging assay.RESULTS:J.regia had greater antiglycation ability,with a minimum inhibitory concentration(MIC 50) of 28 μg/mL as compared with that of C.officinalis(270 μg/mL).C.officinalis had greater antioxidation potential(26.10,22.07 and 16.06% at 0.5 mg,0.25 mg and 0.125 mg,respectively,as compared with 18.15,16.50 and 16.06% of J.regia,respectively).CONCLUSION:J.regia and C.officinalis inhibited the Maillard reaction and prevented oxidation in-vitro.Hence,the extracts of these plants could have therapeutic uses in curbing chronic diabetic complications and slowing down aging.

OBJECTIVE:Plants produce a variety of useful bioactive materials that have been used to cure different ailments of human beings.With the same idea in mind,the crude methanolic extract and various fractions of Solanum surrattense were screened for antibacterial,antifungal,phytotoxic and heamagglutination activities.METHODS:Standardized assays were followed for the determination of antibacterial,antifungal phytotoxic and heamagglutination activity.RESULTS:The results of the antibacterial showed that crude methanolic extract was significantly active against Staphylococcus aureus(86%) The nhexane fraction showed good activity against Pseudomonas aerogenosa(66.6%) and Bacillus subtilus(66.6%).The crude methanolic extract and various fractions were inactive against all test fungi.The crude methanolic extract,n-hexane,CHCl 3 and aqueous fractions showed moderate phytotoxic activities of 46.67%,40.00%,33.34% and 33.34% respectively at 1000 μg/mL.The crude methanolic extract and various fractions S.surrattense were unable to agglutinate RBCs of the human blood indicating that this species lack phytolectins.CONCLUSION:The test sample showed significant antibacterial activity,no antifungal and heamagglutination activity while moderate phytotoxic was observed against Lemna minor L.

A study in district Buner,Khyber Pakhtunkhwa,aimed to determine the prevalence of Toxoplasma gondii in cat feces.243 fecal samples were collected and examined for intestinal parasites at Abdul Wali khan University Mardan.Of these,58 samples(23.86%)were positive for T.gondii oocysts.Samples were collected over five months from November 2016 to March 2017,with varying prevalence rates:20% in November,25.7% in December,22.5% in January,25.9% in February,and 21.9% in March.This was the first study of its kind conducted in district Buner.

L-Malic acid has many uses in food,beverage,pharmaceutical,chemical and medical industries.It can be produced by one-step fermentation,enzymatic transformation of fumaric acid to L-malate and acid hydrolysis of polymalic acid.However,the process for one-step fermentation is preferred as it has many advantages over any other process.The pathways of L-malic acid biosynthesis in microorganisms are partially clear and three metabolic pathways including nonoxidative pathway,oxidative pathway and glyoxylate cycle for the production of L-malic acid from glucose have been identified.Usually,high levels of L-malate are produced under the nitrogen starvation conditions,L-malate,as a calcium salt,is secreted from microbial cells and CaCO can play an important role in calcium malate biosynthesis and regulation.However,it is still unclear how it is secreted into the medium.To enhance L-malate biosynthesis and secretion by microbial cells,it is very important to study the mechanisms of L-malic acid biosynthesis and secretion at enzymatic and molecular levels.

With the rapid development of computer hardware and big data processing technology,the bottleneck of intelligent analysis of massive data has changed from“how to deal with massive data quickly”to“how to mine valuable information quickly and effectively from massive data”.Visualization and visualization analysis based on human visual perception characteristics,combined with data analysis and human-computer interaction and other technologies,use visual charts to deconstruct the knowledge and rules contained in complex data.This technology runs through the whole life cycle of data science,known as the last kilometer in the field of big data intelligence,and has achieved remarkable results in many big data application analysis scenarios.Traditional visualization analysis is extremely dependent on the user’s frequent active participation in the whole life cycle of visualization analysis,including data preparation,data conversion,visualization mapping,visual rendering,user interaction,visual analysis and other stages,which require high professional skills of users and low intelligence of the system.Therefore,the traditional visualization analysis mode and systems have the challenges of high threshold of visualization analysis,high cost of data preparation,high latency of interaction response,and low efficiency of interaction mode.Therefore,this paper introduces the application,challenges in visualization based on explainable AI.

In recent years,the significant growth in the Internet of Things(IoT)technology has brought a lot of attention to information and communication industry.Various IoT paradigms like the Internet of Vehicle Things(IoVT)and the Internet of Health Things(IoHT)create massive volumes of data every day which consume a lot of bandwidth and storage.However,to process such large volumes of data,the existing cloud computing platforms offer limited resources due to their distance from IoT devices.Consequently,cloudcomputing systems produce intolerable latency problems for latency-sensitive real-time applications.Therefore,a newparadigm called fog computingmakes use of computing nodes in the form of mobile devices,which utilize and process the real-time IoT devices data in orders of milliseconds.This paper proposes workload-aware efficient resource allocation and load balancing in the fog-computing environment for the IoHT.The proposed algorithmic framework consists of the following components:task sequencing,dynamic resource allocation,and load balancing.We consider electrocardiography(ECG)sensors for patient’s critical tasks to achieve maximum load balancing among fog nodes and to measure the performance of end-to-end delay,energy,network consumption and average throughput.The proposed algorithm has been evaluated using the iFogSim tool,and results with the existing approach have been conducted.The experimental results exhibit that the proposed technique achieves a 45%decrease in delay,37%reduction in energy consumption,and 25%decrease in network bandwidth consumption compared to the existing studies.

The energy content of the charged-Kerr(CK)spacetime surrounded by dark energy(DE)is investigated using approximate Lie symmetry methods for the differential equations.For this,we consider three different DE scenarios:cosmological constant with an equation of state parameter$ω_(q)=-2/3,quintessence DE with an equation of state parameterω_(c)=-1,and a frustrated network of cosmic strings with an equation of state parameterω_(n)=-1/3.To study the gravitational energy of the CK black hole surrounded by the DE,we explore the symmetries of the 2nd-order perturbed geodesic equations.It is noticed,for all the values ofω,the exact symmetries are recovered as 2nd-order approximate trivial symmetries.These trivial approximate symmetries give the rescaling of arc length parameter s in this spacetime which indicates that the energy in the underlying spacetime has to be rescaled by a factor that depends on the black hole parameters and the DE parameter.This rescaling factor is compared with the factor of the CK spacetime found in[Hussain et al.Gen.Relativ.Gravit.(2009)]and the effects of the DE on it are discussed.It is observed that for all the three values of the equation of state parameterω,the effect of DE results in decreased energy content of the black hole spacetime,regardless of values of the charge Q,spin a and the DE parameterα.This reduction in the energy content due to the involvement of the DE favours the idea of mass reduction of black holes by accretion of DE given by[Babichev et al.Phys.Rev.Lett.(2004)].

Human personality assessment using gait pattern recognition is one of the most recent and exciting research domains.Gait is a person’s identity that can reflect reliable information about his mood,emotions,and substantial personality traits under scrutiny.This research focuses on recognizing key personality traits,including neuroticism,extraversion,openness to experience,agreeableness,and conscientiousness,in line with the bigfive model of personality.We inferred personality traits based on the gait pattern recognition of individuals utilizing built-in smartphone sensors.For experimentation,we collected a novel dataset of 22 participants using an android application and further segmented it into six data chunks for a critical evaluation.After data pre-processing,we extracted selected features from each data segment and then applied four multiclass machine learning algorithms for training and classifying the dataset corresponding to the users’Big-Five Personality Traits Profiles(BFPT).Experimental results and performance evaluation of the classifiers revealed the efficacy of the proposed scheme for all big-five traits.

Ammonia(NH3), a carbon-free hydrogen carrier, is an important commodity for the food supply chain owing to its high energy capacity and ease of storage and transport. The Haber-Bosch process is currently the favored industrial method for large-scale ammonia production but requires energy-intensive and sophisticated infrastructure which hampers its utilization in a sustainable and decentralized system of manufacture.The electrochemical nitrogen reduction reaction(eNRR) at ambient conditions holds great potential for sustainable production of ammonia using electricity generated from renewable energy sources such as solar and wind. However, this approach is limited by a low rate of ammonia production with high overpotential and the competing hydrogen evolution reaction(HER). For a better understanding and utilization of eNRR as a sustainable process, insight into rational catalyst design and mechanistic evaluations by a theoretically-directed experimental approach is imperative. Herein, recent insights into rational catalyst design and mechanisms, based on intrinsic and extrinsic catalytic activity are articulated.Following the elucidation of basic principles and mechanisms, a framework supplied by theoretical studies that lead to the optimal selection and development of eNRR catalysts is presented. Following a discussion of recently developed electrocatalysts for eNRR, we outline various recently-used theoretical and experimental methodologies to improve the intrinsic and extrinsic catalytic activity of advanced electrocatalysts.This review is anticipated to contribute to the development of active, selective, and efficient catalysts for nitrogen reduction.

We study the particle dynamics around a black hole(BH)in f(Q)gravity.First,we investigate the influence of the parameters of f(Q)gravity on the horizon structure of the BH,photon orbits and the radius of the innermost stable circular orbit(ISCO)of massive particles.We further study the effects of the parameters of f(Q)gravity on the shadow cast by the BH.Moreover,we consider weak gravitational lensing using the general method,where we also explore the deflection angle of light rays around the BH in f(Q)gravity in uniform and nonuniform plasma mediums.
