The Dialafara area is part of the highly endowed Kédougou-Kéniéba Inlier (KKI), West-malian gold belt, which corresponds to a Paleoproterozoic window through the West African Craton (WAC). This study presents, first of all, an integration of geophysical data interpretation with litho-structural field reconnaissance and then proposes a new litho-structural map of the Dialafara area. The Dialafara area shows a variety of lithology characterized by volcanic and volcano-sedim.ntary units, metasedim.nts and plutonic intrusion. These lithologies were affected by a complex superposition of structures of unequal importance defining three deformation phases (DD1 to DD3) under ductile to brittle regimes. These features permit to portray a new litho-structural map, which shows that the Dialafara area presents a more complex lithological and structural context than the one presented in regional map of the KKI. This leads to the evidence that this area could be a potential site for exploration as it is situated between two world-class gold districts.

Introduction: Acute otitis media is an acute inflammation of the mucosa of the middle ear cavities. It is often secondary to nasopharyngitis, which favors the passage of infection through the Eustachian tube to the middle ear. The aim of our study was to improve the m.nagem.nt of AOm in the Paediatric Departm.nt of the Hospital national Ignace Deen (Conakry). Patients and methods: This was a prospective descriptive study lasting 6 m.nths from 01 July to 31 December 2011;the study covered 525 cases out of a total of 6276 children, i.e. a frequency of 8.36%. Results: The most affected age group was 6 to 11 m.nths. males predom.nated (69.71%). 82.29% had a history of recurrent rhinopharyngitis. The most frequent reason for consultation was incessant crying (66.29%). Rhinopharyngitis and malaria were the most comm.nly associated pathologies (87.62% and 39.62% respectively). 72.19% of our patients were admitted with congestive AOm and received medical treatm.nt. We recorded one case of otomastoiditis which was treated surgically. Conclusion: AOm is more comm.n in children aged between 6 and 24 m.nths. Good collaboration between paediatricians and EnT specialists is essential to reduce the morbidity of AOm.

Introduction: Children involved in road accidents most often suffer head or limb injuries. The severity of these injuries varies according to the age of the child, the type of road user and whether or not protective devices are used. The aim of this study was to carry out a census of admissions and to identify the epidemiological and clinical profile of children involved in road traffic accidents at Donka national Hospital. methods: This is a descriptive cross-sectional study of children involved in traffic accidents over a 3-m.nth period from September 1 to november 30, 2021. All children admitted to the emergency departm.nt for a traffic accident were included in the study. Results: During the study period, 435/530 children (82.1%) were victims of road accidents. Boys accounted for 54.94% of cases, compared with 45.06% for girls. The age group most affected was 12-17 years old (48.97%). October had the highest accident rate (36.4%). Pedestrians are most affected (52.87%). Bicycles and mopeds were involved in 59.77% of accidents. Head injury was the most frequent pathology (33.33%). The study showed that 12.64% of victims were referred to intensive care, pediatric surgery, etc. We recorded 8 cases of death (1.84%). Conclusion: This study highlighted the characteristics, incidence and risk factors for accidents in children admitted to emergency departm.nts. Accident prevention, particularly serious accidents in children, requires more precise knowledge of the factors and circumstances leading to their occurrence.

Introduction: Growth is a reflection of a child’s health and nutritional status. Children with sickle cell disease often have slower statural and weight developm.nt. The aim of this study was to evaluate the nutritional profile of children with sickle cell disease (SCD) registered in the CEmECO centre database. methodology: This was a cross-sectional study with simple random sampling of children aged 1 to 16 years registered in the clinic database. Results: We collected information on 208 children, 121 of whom had sickle cell disease and 87 of whom were normal, with a sex ratio of 1.02. The mean age of the sickle cell patients was 8.7 ± 4.4 years, while that of the non-sickle cell patients was 9.5 ± 4 years. Haemoglobin electrophoresis revealed 103 homozygous (SS), 18 double heterozygous (SC, SBetaThal, SE) and 87 normal (AA) and/or sickle cell trait (AS) sickle cell cases. We observed a significant difference in the height/age ratio (P ¥). Conclusion: The results of our study revealed stunted growth in children with sickle cell disease.

Introduction: Fibroscan is a recent, non-invasive and non-irradiating diagnostic method. It is based on the principle of ultrasound, which enables liver tissue elasticity to be quantified using a probe, and fibrosis to be assessed. Fibroscan measures both elasticity correlated with hepatic fibrosis and CAP correlated with steatosis. The aim of this study was to evaluate hepatic fibrosis and steatosis using pulse elastometry (Fibroscan/CAP). methods: This was a descriptive and analytical cross-sectional study in which 170 patients were included. It was conducted from October 1 2021 to December 31 2023, i.e. 27 m.nths, in an outpatient clinic in the hepato-gastroenterology departm.nt of the Donka national hospital of the CHU Conakry. Results: Of the 170 patients identified, 87 were male (51%) and 83 female (49%), giving a m/F sex ratio of 1.04. The average age of our patients was 40. The 30 - 50 age group was the most affected, with a frequency of 58.23% (n = 99), followed by the 50 age group with a frequency of 29.41% (n = 50). Hepatomegaly, steatotic liver on ultrasonography, transam.nase elevation and obesity were the main indications, respectively: (21.76%), (17.65%), (14.71%), and (13.53%). The exam.nations were requested by hepatogastroenterologists (47.06%), diabetologists (35.88%) and general practitioners (29%). Of the 170 patients, 100 patients (58.82%) had no significant fibrosis F0F1, 39 (22.94%) had moderate fibrosis F2, 20 patients (11.76%) had severe fibrosis F3 and 11 patients (6.47%) had fibrosis F4. Hepatic steatosis: 62 patients (36.47%) had no S0 steatosis;29.41% had S1 steatosis, 20% had S2 steatosis and 24 patients (14.11%) had S3 steatosis. Abdom.nal ultrasound revealed a normal liver in 67.05% of patients, hepatic steatosis in 29.41% and non-decompensated cirrhosis in 6 cases. Introduction: Oesophageal mycosis (Om) is one of the most comm.n opportunistic infections in patients infected with HIV (Hum.n Imm.nodeficiency Virus). However, this condition is increasingly observed in imm.nocompetent subjects. The aim of this study was to determ.ne the endoscopic prevalence, clinical characteristics and risk factors for the occurrence of oesophageal mycosis in our departm.nt. Patients and method: This was a prospective cross-sectional study of all patients who underwent oeso-gastroduodenal fibroscopy during the period from 1st January to 31st December 2022, i.e. one year, at the digestive endoscopy unit of the hepato-gastroenterology departm.nt of the Donka CHU national hospital in Conakry. All patients found to have oesophageal mycosis by FOGD were included. The endoscopy was performed using appropriate equipm.nt: A Fujinon 4400 video endoscopy column;Three Fujinon EG 590 video gastroscopes;A hoover;Data were collected using a pre-established survey form and analysed using Epi info software version 6.0.4;Pearson’s Chi2 test as a test of independence and the exact 5% threshold ficher test. Results: Out of 1343 upper gastrointestinal endoscopies performed, 107 cases of oesophageal mycosis were found, representing a prevalence of 7.96%. The mean age was 40 years, with a male predom.nance of 55.42%. The sex ratio m/F was 1.24. The 45 and over age group was the most affected, with a prevalence of 40.43%, followed by the [35 - 45] age group, with a prevalence of 22.43%. Clinical symptoms were dom.nated by epigastralgia in 74.76% of cases, followed by odynophagia in 37.38% of cases, nausea and vomiting in 28.03% of cases, and pyrosis in 26.16% of cases. Oesophageal mycosis without oesophagitis was the most comm.n endoscopic finding in 70% of cases. The main associated endoscopic lesions were erythemato-erosive and congestive gastropathy in 28.03% of cases, peptic oesophagitis (9.34%) and gastric ulcer (5.60%). The main risk factor

Côte d’Ivoire is currently experiencing strong growth in the m.ning sector. Identifying the formations present in our subsoil is therefore essential for m.ning recovery. It is in this context that we conducted studies on the formations present in the locality of Guintéguéla. It is located in the northwest of Côte d’Ivoire in the bafing region. The aim of this work was to determ.ne the petrographic and structural characteristics of the formations of the area. The methodology began with docum.ntation and then followed petrography and structural analysis work on the macroscopic and microscopic levels. We observed six groups of rocks: granitoids, amphibolites, orthogneiss, quartzites (poor and rich in magnetites), volcano-sedim.nts and filonian rocks. metamorphism is of amphibolite to granulite facies. However, volcano-sedim.nts must be associated with the green schist facies. With regard to the structural, structures and microstructures such as foliation;fractures;sigmoidal figures reveal that the studied area was affected by ductile and also brittle tectonics whose main directions are oriented along the shear corridor, so n-S to nnW-SSE.

Introduction: malnutrition is a pathological state resulting from the relative deficiency or excess of one or more essential nutrients, whether m.nifested clinically or detected only by biochemical, anthropometric or physiological analyses. The overall objective was to assess the quality of m.nagem.nt of acute malnutrition in children aged 0 - 24 m.nths at the Boulbinet health center. methodology: This was a prospective descriptive study lasting six (06) m.nths from may 5 to October 5, 2018. The study included all children aged 0 to 24 m.nths. Results: Acute malnutrition in children aged 0 - 24 m.nths accounted for 2.11% of cases. The sex ratio was 1.41 in favor of males. The mean age of our patients was 5 m.nths 7 days, with extremes of 1 m.nth and 6 m.nths. The majority came from Ra toma (40.24%). Exclusive breastfeeding was most comm.n (54.02%). The main clinical signs were: pallor 49.42%, diarrhea 46.67, oral lesions37.96%. SAm represented 89.66% and mAm 10.34%. most associated pathologies: anemia 49.42% and oral candidiasis 37.93%. In terms of outcome, we recorded 56.32% cures, 20.69% deaths, 18.39% dropouts and 4.60% cures. Conclusion: Improving the quality of care for malnourished children aged 0 - 24 m.nths requires raising awareness am.ng mothers and the general public of the consequences of malnutrition.

Introduction: Esophageal foreign bodies (EFB) are a diagnostic and therapeutic emergency because of the serious complications they can cause. Aim: This paper aimed to study the vulnating esophageal foreign bodies in the EnT and Head and neck Surgery departm.nts of the Yalgado Ouedraogo and Bogodogo University Hospital. methodology: This was an analytic cross-sectional study with retrospective data collection over 10 years (2012-2021). Results: We collected 91 cases of vulnating esophageal foreign bodies, i.e. 9.1 cases/year (4.7%). The mean age of the patients was 14 ± 19 years. The sex ratio was 1.6. The circumstances of occurrence were dom.nated by accidental ingestion of vulnating esophageal foreign bodies (98.9%). The average time to consultation was 7.5 hours. Dysphagia was the dom.nant symptom (64.8%). Cervico-thoracic radiography found dual contour radiopaque images in 71.4%. Esophagoscopy with rigid tube was performed in 97.8%. The average time for extraction of the vulnating esophageal foreign bodies was 8 hours. Vulnerating esophageal foreign bodies were non-organic in 84.6%. The button cell represented 64.8%. Their location was cervical in 61.5% intraoperatively. The lesion assessm.nt found ulcerative lesions in 42.9% (p Conclusion: Vulnating esophageal foreign bodies are relatively frequent in our EnT practice. Although their diagnosis is often easy, their treatm.nt is still difficult and requires multidisciplinary m.nagem.nt. Thus, for us, prevention remains the first effective weapon.

Connective tissue diseases (CTDs) are Autoimm.ne diseases (AIDs) characterized by the appearance of autoantibodies, which are diagnostic markers. Investigations of these autoantibodies play a major role in the m.nagem.nt of several autoimm.ne diseases. The objective of this study was to describe the profile of anti-EnA antibodies according to the clinical symptoms of mixed CTDs in Conakry teaching Hospital. We performed a cross-sectional study during six m.nths. A total of 20 patients was recruited and we measured antibodies using the ELISA technique. The mean age of our patients was 36.5 years, with a predom.nance of females. Cutaneous and rheumatological signs were the main clinical m.nifestations. SLP was the most frequent CTDs;the threshold of EnA antibodies positivity was higher in scleroderma with and SLP. Anti-EnA identification reveals the frequency of anti-SSA (83.33%), anti-U1RnP (66.66%) and anti-histone (50%) antibodies. Antinuclear antibodies (AnA) react with various components of the cell nucleus. Their detection is of major interest in the diagnosis of CTDs. Our results highlight the importance of determ.ning the specificity of these antibodies to guide differential diagnosis.
