BACKGROUND Childhood bronchial ast.ma(BA)is a chronic inflammat.ry respirat.ry *** condit.ons,including zinc deficiency,can affect.such allergic *** t. out.ine t.e difference in serum zinc levels bet.een ast.mat.c children and healt.y *** A cross-sect.onal st.dy was carried out.at.Children’s Hospit.l,Cairo Universit.,invest.gat.ng serum zinc levels in children wit. BA(n=40)and healt.y children(n=21).Ot.er markers included serum ferrit.n,iron,hemoglobin(Hb),and immunoglobulin E(IgE)*** t.t.st. and Mann-Whinny t.st. were used for *** Kruskal-Wallis t.st.was applied t. compare serum ferrit.n and IgE levels wit. regard t. ast.ma ***'s rank correlat.on was performed t. explore t.e relat.onship bet.een serum ferrit.n levels and bot. iron and Hb levels in ast.mat.c *** Children wit. BA had higher levels of zinc,yet.t.e difference was not.significant.P=0.115).Serum ferrit.n and IgE levels were significant.y higher in ast.mat.c children(P=0.006 and 0.001,respect.vely),yet.t.eir levels did not.differ significant.y by severit.(P=0.623 and 0.126,respect.vely).t.ere was a nonsignificant.weak correlat.on bet.een serum ferrit.n levels and bot. serum iron and Hb *** Serum zinc levels do not.seem t. differ bet.een ast.mat.c children and healt.y *** ferrit.n levels may be a marker of ast.ma *** IgE levels are not.markers of ast.ma severit..

t.e t.ermal conduct.vit. and specific heat.capacit. of undoped and Al-doped （1–10 at.%） ZnO nanopart.cles prepared using t.e solvent.t.ermal met.od are det.rmined by measuring bot. t.ermal diffusivit. and t.ermal effusivit. of a pressed powder compact.of t.e prepared nanopart.cles by using t.e laser-induced phot.acoust.c t.chnique. t.e impact.of Al doping versus t.e microst.uct.re of t.e samples on such t.ermal paramet.rs has been invest.gat.d. t.e result. reveal an obvious enhancement.in t.e specific heat.capacit. when decreasing t.e part.cle size, while t.e effect.of Al doping on t.e specific heat.capacit. is minor. t.e measured t.ermal conduct.vit.es are about.one order of magnit.de smaller t.an t.at.of t.e bulk ZnO due t. several nest.d reducing heat.t.ansfer mechanisms. t.e result. also show t.at.Al doping significant.y influences t.e t.ermal resist.nce. Using a simple t.ermal impedance model, t.e added t.ermal resist.nce due t. Al dopant.has been est.mat.d.
