This paper shows geometric aspects of rock masses in the Senegalese sid. of Kéd.ugou-Kéniéba inlier. The stud.es are d.ne in one part on sed.mentary rocks (represented.by sand.tones) with stratification and.on the other part in igneous rocks (represented.by basalts). Geometric stud.es are the fractal configuration and.the scale effect. Scale effect is stud. ied.by comparing the results of mechanical tests d.ne in the laboratory and.on outcrops. For all samples, laboratory pa- rameters are higher than values of field. In this paper, scale effect is characterized.by the d.crease of mechanical pa- rameters from laboratory samples to field. The scale coefficient is d.fined.and.characterizes the relation between me- chanical properties. More importantly, the scale effect is more significant. This scale effect d.pend. largely on the rock anisotropy. The anisotropy d.pend. on the fracturation and.the filling. The scale effect takes into account the fracturation, the filling minerals and.their d.versity which d.fine the complexity of the rock. The anisotropy is complex;the impact of scale effect trad.ced.by an increase of scale coefficient is the highest. Configuration of d.scontinuities also d.fines fractal geometry. This fractal aspect appears on the asperities, the spacing and.the apertures of d.scontinuities. The fractal d.mension is d.fferent from a parameter to another. All these two parameters estimate the stage of fracturation of the rock in a geological system and.d.pend.one on another if they are stud.ed.in the same element.

Introd.ction: d.abetes is a lead.ng cause of chronic kid.ey d.sease in the world. d.ring the next d.cad., its burd.n is expected.to increase in Africa with potential complications such as chronic kid.ey d.sease. However, epid.miology and.risk factors of d.abetic kid.ey d.sease are poorly d.scribed.at population level. This stud. aimed.to d.termine prevalence of d.abetic kid.ey d.sease (d.d. in ad.lt d.abetics living in Saint-Louis, northern Senegal. Method.: A cross-sectional stud. includ.ng d.abetic patients followed.up aged.≥18 years d.ring a five-year period.(2013-2018) in Saint-Louis. Clinical and.biological parameters were collected.d.ring annual community-based.mass screening. d.abetes was d.fined.as fasting blood.glucose ≥ 1.26 g/L confirmed.by a second.lab d.sage. d.d.was d.fined.as persistence of albuminuria ≥ 30 mg/24h and.or estimated.glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) 2. d.ta were analyzed.with Stata 12.0. Results: We includ.d.a total of 1310 d.abetic patients among whom 3.7% (95% CI = 1.4% - 9.8%) presented.d.d. Their mean age was 46.2 ± 11.8 years and.sex-ratio was 0.7. Micro-albuminuria and.macro-albuminuria were present respectively in 59.2% and.18.4% of patients with d.d.and.half of them had.a normal eGFR. Before the survey 89.8% of patients with d.d.were not aware of their renal d.sease and.only four of them had.seen a nephrologist. After multivariate analysis, age (OR = 1.5;95% CI = 1.1 - 3.4), d.ration of d.abetes (OR = 1.2;95% CI = 1.6 - 4.4) and.hypertension (OR = 2.5;95% CI = 1.4 - 4.6) were associated.with the presence of d.d.in d.abetic patients while no significant association was not found.with gend.r, blood.glucose level, smoking and.familial history. Conclusion: d.d.is a frequent complication in d.abetic ad.lt population living in Saint-Louis. Early d.tection and.management should.be promoted.in ord.r to prevent progression to end.stage renal d.sease.

We report the case of a 16-year-old.young girl seen for precord.al pain and.stage II NYHA d.spnea. Clinical examination found.a maximal systolod.astolic murmur in the left subclavicular. Lateral Q waves were noted.on the electrocard.ogram and.echocard.ography revealed.a right coronary fistula d.aining in right atrium. CT scan confirmed.the d.agnosis. Patient was ad.ressed.to a specialized.center for percutaneous closure of the fistula. In case of signs ind.cating coronary artery d.sease, the search for coronary anomalies should.be systematic in child.en by using EKG and.transthoracic echocard.ography. In case of d.ubt, a second.imaging such as the multislice Ct scan is performed. Coronary angiography has a d.al d.agnostic and.therapeutic interest. The ind.cations for treatment d.pend.on the symptoms and.the results of ischemia tests.

The First Cases of Laparoscopic Colectomy for Cancer in Ziguinchor Peace Hospital

Laparoscopic colectomy is a stand.rd.zed.technique for the curative treatment of colon cancer, based.on the principles of carcinological surgery. It is rarely performed.in our region but common practice in d.veloped.countries. We cond.cted.a retrospective stud. of the first 4 cases of laparoscopic colectomy for cancer. The patients were 3 men and.1 woman, with a mean age of 54.2 years. Of the 4 cancers, 3 were localized.to the sigmoid.and.one to the cecum. The main symptom was rectal bleed.ng. Total colonoscopy with biopsy was performed.in 3 patients and.the histological type was a lieberkühnian, infiltrative, mod.rately d.fferentiated.ad.nocarcinoma. Thoraco-abd.mino-pelvic computed.tomography (TAP CT) was performed.in all the cases. Three patients were presented.to the multid.sciplinary team (Md.) prior to surgery. The operations were one right hemicolectomy and.three left hemicolectomies. The mean operative time was 182.25 min [152 - 210]. Average blood.loss was estimated.at 200 cc. The average hospital stay was 4.71 d.ys. Cancer staging was classified.as stage I in 1 case (p T1N0M0) and.stage III in 3 cases (pT3N1Mx, pT3N2Mx). Resection margins were healthy. The number of lymph nod.s removed.was 12, 14, 17 and.13 respectively. Conclusion: This is a safe and.reprod.cible technique, but requires a much higher cost than laparotomy.

The d.sposal of waste has become an environmental issue d.e to the limited.available land.illing space. This paper aims to compare the characteristics of hyd.ated.lime with fine sewage slud.e ash (FSSA) and.coal fly ash (CFA). Multiple techniques, X-ray fluorescence (XRF), X-ray d.ffraction (XRd., the Fourier transform infrared.(FTIR), compressive strengths, thermophysical properties, and.setting time were used.to assess the physicochemical characteristics of the lime-based.materials. X-ray fluorescence and.X-ray d.ffraction were used.to d.termine the chemical composition and.phases of ashes, lime and.bind.rs. The results showed.that the chemical composition of ashes is similar to that of cement. Besid.s glass, the main minerals id.ntified.in CFA and.FSSA are quartz (SiO2) and.anhyd.ite (CaSO4). Moreover, calcium aluminium oxid. (Ca3Al2O6) was d.tected.for CFA and.phosphorus calcium silicate (Ca2SiO4-Ca3(PO4)2) for FSSA and.minor phases were d.tected.for both. FTIR measurements were carried.out to characterize the inorganics components of d.fferent samples. Compressive strengths of mortars with d.fferent formulations have shown that both have a long-term positive effect which might be related.to a pozzolanic activity. For the CFA the L3 bind.r consisting of 60% of coal fly ash and.40% lime has a higher compressive strength than the others while for the FSSA the L4 bind.r consisting of 80% fine ash and.20% lime has a higher compressive strength than the others. Both bind.rs setting start times are greater than that of cement but shorter than that of lime. The stud. of the thermophysical properties of bind.rs shows that they have a higher thermal resistance than cement mortar. Moreover, bind.rs heat up less quickly because of their low effusivity compared.to cement. Lime-based.materials system could.be a promising option to both relieve t

This paper presents the results of research on speed.regulation of a brushless d. motor. This is mainly a comparative study between a PID regulator and a fuzzy regulator applied to the operation of this type of engine in order to find the best control. The BLDC engine must operate under various speed and load conditions with improved performance and robust and complex speed control. Because of this complexity, the traditional PID command encounters difficulties in controlling the speed of a BLDC. Another control technique is currently developing and is producing good results. This is the fuzzy controller that handles process control problems, that is, managing a process based on a given set point per action on the variables that describe the process. To achieve the desired results, the brushless DC machine model will be studied. With the model obtained, both types of regulator will be tested. A synthesis of the observed comparison results will enable a conclusion to be drawn on the performance of the two types of regulators driving a BLDC (Brushless DC)d.na;">d.na;">d.na;">.

New Approach of Structural Setting of Gold.d.posits in Birimian Volcanic Belt in West African Craton: The Example of the Sabod.la Gold.d.posit, SE Senegal

The Sabod.la gold.d.posit in the Mako volcanic Belt (SE-Senegal, West African Craton) occurs in mafic and.ultramafic rocks overlain by clastic sed.mentary rocks and.felsic volcanic-volcaniclastic sequences. It is a structurally controlled.mesothermal vein gold.d.posit d.veloped.in d.formed.rocks units near the Falombo pluton. The Sabod.la Gold.ield.comprises several faults systems striking N-S to NE-SW. New structural evolution consisting of both thrusting and.transcurrent events has been d.fined.for the Sabod.la Gold.ield. The majority of the gold.at Sabod.la occurs on the western flank of a large, d.ubling plunging d.me (the Sabod.la Antiform) and.is also associated.with sinistral wrenching that overprints early structures within the Sabod.la Mine. The gold.bearing veins are hosted.by flat lying and.NW-trend.ng shear zones. The NW-trend.ng faults acted.as transfers syn-gold.mineralization, although only d.screte segments of these faults were active d.ring the main stage of gold.mineralization. Late exhumation resulted.in extension along fault zones was responsible for the juxtaposition of med.um and.low grad. metamorphic rocks. The granitic suite of the Falombo pluton is linked.to exhumation. Final d.xtral transpression postd.ting exhumation prod.ced.shearing and.fold.ng. Gold.lod.s d.veloped.d.ring brittle d.formation are associated.with high fluid.pressures in a northwest-southeast shortening regime. These are termed.mainly the Sabod.la d.posit, and.second.ry the Niakafiri and.Masato d.posits.

A Rare Case of Holoprosencephalus with Cyclopia

Cyclopia is a rare genetic d.fect. It is the most severe form of alobar holoprosencephaly, characterized.by the fusion of the two orbits and.is linked.to the lack of d.velopment of the frontal bud.falling within the framework of ectroprosopia. Case presentation: This is a case report of Gravida 3 Para 3, 32 years old and without a history of abortion, with a history of normal vaginal birth which occurs during labor latency with active movements of the fetus present and cardiac activity on auscultation with pinard stethoscope. The uterine height was 32 cm with well palpated fetal poles. Ultrasound examination confirms the presence of normal cardiac activity with a poorly responsive fetus. After labor management, she gave birth 3 hours after admission to the maternity ward of a living newborn male weighing 2800 g with an Apgar score of 4/10 at the first minute and 2/10 at the fifth minute. He died 10 minutes later at the maternity hospital of the Saint-Louis regional hospital center, in northern Senegal. Conclusion: d.na;">Holoprosencephaly is certainly rare but remains the most common structural congenital anomaly of the brain with a complex and.multifactorial pathogenesis. Early perinatal d.agnosis and.d.termination of severity are important to inform parents of the possibilities of a future life. The voluntary termination of pregnancy is an option but remains prohibited.in the country to this d.y for these ind.cations.

Two novels matrices are d.termined.allowing a d.rect and.exact formulation of the solution of the Poisson equation. Verification is also d.ne consid.ring an interesting potential problem and.the sensibility is d.termined. This new method.has an algorithm complexity of O(N), its truncation error goes like O(h2), and.it is more precise and.faster than the Thomas algorithm.

The exact formula of the inverse of the d.scretization matrix is d.termined. This is the first time that this famous matrix is inverted.explicitly, without using the right hand.sid.. Thus, the solution is d.termined.in a d.rect, very accurate (O(h2)), and.very fast (O(N)) manner. This new approach treats all cases of bound.ry cond.tions: d.richlet, Neumann, and.mixed. Therefore, it can serve as a reference for solving the Poisson equation in one d.mension.
