Wheat Yield Response to Foliar Fungicide Application against Leaf Rust Caused by Puccinia triticina

A study was conducted on reducing the yield loss of wheat due to leaf rust caused by Puccinia triticina with foliar application of fungicides during the 2014-2015 and 2015-2016 growing seasons at the Wheat Research Institute in Faisalabad, Pakistan. Three fungicides： Folicur （tebuconazole） at 300 mL/ha, Nativo （tebuconazole ＋ trifloxystrobin） at 300 g/ha and Tilt （propiconazole） at 500 mL/ha were applied single or two times to Morocco and Sehar-06 wheat varieties used in the trial. The trial plots were first sprayed at the Zadok＇s scale （ZS） 3 stage and second sprayed between ZS 4.3 and 5.4 stages. The greenness of the trial crop was measured using GreenSeeker. Foliar application of fungicides significantly reduced the loss of grain yield and 1,000-grain weight （TGW） of wheat due to leaf rust in comparison to the control without fungicides application. Of the three fungicides, two times spray of Nativo reduced the grain yield loss of leaf rust susceptible mega wheat variety Sehar-06 by 45%-56% and the loss of TGW by 42%, also giving the highest marginal return in the trial. Single application of Nativo was equally effective as two times spray of Folicur in reducing the loss of wheat grain yield. Two times spray of Folicur was found to be the second choice of fungicide for reducing the yield loss of wheat. The research identified suitable fungicides for reducing the yield loss of wheat due to leaf rust and also generated important scientific knowledge required to manage a sudden outbreak of leaf rust to ensure food security.

Influence of Mold Preheating and Silicon Content on Microstructure and Casting Properties of Ductile Iron in Permanent Mold

The effects of the mold preheating and the silicon content of ductile iron on the percentage of carbides,graphite nodule counts and shrinkage volume were *** results showed that the percentage of carbides and the shrinkage volume decreased when the mold preheating *** ductile iron with the carbon equivalent of 4.45 % and the silicon content of 2.5% without any porosity defects was achieved when the mold preheating was 450 ℃.Increasing the silicon content in the range of 2.1%-3.3% led to the increase in graphite nodule count and graphite size and the decrease in percentage of *** is due to the increase in induced expansion pressure during the graphite formation with the increasing of silicon *** suitable condition for casting a sound product of ductile iron without the riser at the mold preheating temperature of 300 ℃ is the silicon content of 3.3% and carbon equivalent of 4.7%.

Localization of sensor nodes in the internet of underwater things(IoUT)is of considerable significance due to its various applications,such as navigation,data tagging,and detection of underwater ***,in this paper,we propose a hybrid Bayesian multidimensional scaling(BMDS)based localization technique that can work on a fully hybrid IoUT network where the nodes can communicate using either optical,magnetic induction,and acoustic *** communication technologies are already used for communication in the underwater environment;however,lacking localization *** and magnetic induction communication achieves higher data rates for short *** the contrary,acoustic waves provide a low data rate for long-range underwater *** proposed method collectively uses optical,magnetic induction,and acoustic communication-based ranging to estimate the underwater sensor nodes’final ***,we also analyze the proposed scheme by deriving the hybrid Cramer-Rao lower bound(H-CRLB).Simulation results provide a complete comparative analysis of the proposed method with the literature.

Cytotoxic, antioxidant and antimicrobial activities of Nerium oleander collected in Morocco

Objective: To investigate the cytotoxic, antioxidant and antibacterial activities of ethanolic and aqueous crude extracts of Nerium oleander(N. oleander) leaves. Methods: Cytotoxic activities were evaluated by WST-1 bioassay on two human cancer cell lines, namely human colon adenocarcinoma cell line HT-29 and human breast cancer cell line MDA-MB-231. The antioxidant property of N. oleander extracts was assessed by DPPH scavenging and he agar disc diffusion method was used for the determination of an毬-carotene bleaching tests. Ttimicrobial activity against different strains. Results: Using cell viability indices, the WST-1 test revealed that both extracts reduced cell viability in both cell lines. Our results also showed that aqueous extract was more active than ethanolic extract, with IC50 values of(1.67±0.22) μg/mL and(2.36±0.44) μg/mL on MDA-MB-231 cells, and(2.89±0.35) μg/mL and(5.09±0.52) μg/mL on HT29 cells, respectively. The study of the antioxidant activity showed that N. oleander extracts had a considerable scavenging capacity and exerted a significant preventive effect against the oxidation of 毬-carotene by the peroxide radicals. However, the antibacterial test showed that both ethanolic and aqueous extracts of N. oleander had a moderate antibacterial effect limited only to Gram-positive bacteria. Conclusions: Our results shows that N. oleander aqueous and ethanolic extracts have significant cytotoxic activities against tumor cell lines and possesses a strong antioxidant capacity, suggesting the presence of active compounds in N. oleander leaves that could be a potential source of phytochemicals with high medicinal value to be used in cancer treatment and prevention.

Fractional order algorithms have shown promising results in various signal processing applications due to their ability to improve performance without significantly increasing *** goal of this work is to inves-tigate the use of fractional order algorithm in the field of adaptive beam-forming,with a focus on improving performance while keeping complexity *** effectiveness of the algorithm will be studied and evaluated in this *** this paper,a fractional order least mean square(FLMS)algorithm is proposed for adaptive beamforming in wireless applications for effective utilization of *** algorithm aims to improve upon existing beam-forming algorithms,which are inefficient in performance,by offering faster convergence,better accuracy,and comparable computational *** FLMS algorithm uses fractional order gradient in addition to the standard ordered gradient in weight *** derivation of the algorithm is provided and supported by mathematical convergence *** is evaluated through simulations using mean square error(MSE)minimization as a metric and compared with the standard LMS algorithm for various *** results,obtained through Matlab simulations,show that the FLMS algorithm outperforms the standard LMS in terms of convergence speed,beampattern accuracy and scatter *** outperforms LMS in terms of convergence speed by 34%.From this,it can be concluded that FLMS is a better candidate for adaptive beamforming and other signal processing applications.

The Potential Efficacy of Glycyrrhizic Acid and Its Nanostructure Against Brown Rot of Peach fruits

Production of peaches(Prunus persica(L.)Batsch)for both local market and export is increasing each year in *** rot disease,caused by Monilinia laxa and Monilinia fructigena,is considered one of the most important postharvest rots affecting peaches in Egypt and economic losses are *** activity of glycyrrhizic acid nanoparticles(GA-NPs)and glycyrrhizic acid(GA)at 0.2 and 0.4 mmol/L was investigated as a control for both these brown rot pathogens on peach fruits in both in vitro and in vivo *** the in vitro studies,GA-NPs were the most effective as shown by the ability to decrease linear growth of both brown rot pathogens in potato dextrose agar(PDA)amended with 0.4 mmol/L *** of *** exposed to 0.4 mmol/LGA showed mycelial deformations,nodule formation,detachment of the cell wall,shrinkage and inhomogeneous cytoplasmic materials with large *** of *** exposed to 0.4 mmol/LGA-NPs resulted in thinner and distorted hyphae,nodule formation,cell wall thinning,and *** GANPs and GA treatments improved fruit quality by maintaining firmness and total soluble solids(TSS).GA-NPs were more effective in decreasing decay incidence than their bulk *** 0.4 mmol/L GA-NPs completely inhibited the disease on naturally infected peach fruits for both seasons of 2018 and ***,0.4 mmol/L GA-NPs reduced the disease incidence in inoculated fruits by 95(***)and 88%(***)in 2018 season and 96(***)and 85%(***)in 2019 *** conclusion,GA-NPs could enhance the resistance of peaches against brown rot caused by *** and ***.

Monthly Temporal-Spatial Variability and Estimation of Absorbing Aerosol Index Using Ground-Based Meteorological Data in Nigeria

The objective of this work is to analyze the temporal and spatial variability of the monthly mean aerosol index (AI) obtained from the Total Ozone Mapping Spectrometer (TOMS) and Ozone Monitoring Instrument (OMI) in comparison with the available ground observations in Nigeria during 1984-2013. It also aims at developing a regression model to allow the estimation of the values of AI in Nigeria based on the data from ground observations. TOMS and OMI data are considered and treated separately to provide continuity and consistency in the long-term data observations, together with the meteorological variable such as wind speed, visibility, air temperature and relative humidity that can be used to characterize the dust activity in Nigeria. The results revealed a strong seasonal pattern of the monthly distribution and variability of absorbing aerosols along a north to south gradient. The monthly mean AI showed higher values during the dry months (Harmattan) and lower values during the wet months (Summer) in all zones. From December to February, higher AI values are observed in the southern region, decreasing progressively towards the north, while during March-October, the opposite pattern is observed. The AI showed clear maximum values of 2.06, 1.93, and 1.87 (TOMS) and 2.32, 2.27 and 2.24 (OMI) in the month of January and minimum values in September over the north-central, southern and coastal zones, while showing maximum values of 1.76 (TOMS) and 2.10 (OMI) during March in the Sahel. New empirical algorithms for predicting missing AI data were proposed using TOMS data and multiple linear regression, and the model co-efficient was determined. The generated coefficients were applied to another dataset for cross-validation. The accuracy of the model was determined using the coefficient of determination R2 and the root mean square error (RMSE) calculated at the 95% confidence level. Investigation on Effect of Acid Wash with Thermocol Ball on Physical Properties of Knitted Garments

Washing is considered as the final process of garments finishing. Acid washing is one kind of finishing treatment used for making sewn garments aesthetic, fashionable, soft, comfortable and also adding value to the final garments. This paper investigates the effect of the acid washing (with thermocol balls and potassium permanganate) on different physical properties of three knitted garments (Single Jersey 100% Cotton T-shirt, Single Jersey 95% Cotton 5% Spandex T-Shirt and 1 × 1 Rib100% Cotton T-Shirt). Typical washing procedures and techniques were followed and then physical properties were analyzed under standard condition. It is observed that fabric weight, CPI, WPI, spirality and shrinkage increase while bursting strength, stitch length absorbency decrease after washing treatment. pH of all the samples is under controlled and lies between 7 to 8. There is no change in pilling, colorfastness to wash, water and dry rubbing while a little bit decrease in wet rubbing.
