bimetallic Cu-In hybrid electrocatalysts are promising noble metal-free catalysts for selective electrochemical CO_(2) reduction reaction(ECO_(2) RR).Most reports show Cu-In catalysts are selective towards CO evolutio ***,few show similarly high selectivity towards *** we fabricated composition tunable Cu-In hydroxides(Cu_xIn_y-OH) by the hydrothermal method and studied their composition effect on electrochemical CO_(2) reduction in detail. We found that the selectivity of CO_(2) reduction products shifted from CO to formate when the content of In increased in the Cu_xIn_y-OH *** Cu rich electrocatalyst mostly produced CO,which could achieve a Faradaic efficiency(FE) to 75.8% at-0.59 V ***(Cu_(76)In_(24)based electrocatalysts).In comparison,the In rich electrocatalysts selectively produced formate,which possessed the FE of formate up to 85% at-1.01 V *** work systematically illustrates the composition effect on hybrid catalysts,and provides insights into the design of highly selective catalysts for ECO_(2) RR.

Objective:This study aimed to determine the prevalence of Hepatitis b antigen among newly employed staff in a Tertiary Hospital in South-South ***:The medical records of a total of 238 newly employed members of staff of the University of Calabar Teaching Hospital between 2000 and 2006 were *** socio-demographic data and Hepatitis b Surface Antigen(HbSAg) results were ***:The overall prevalence of Hepatitis b Surface Antiginaemia was found to be 5.04%.The prevalence was 7.30%in males and statistically significant compared to 3.50%in ***:There is a reasonably high prevalence of HbSAg among adults prior to employment into Health Care *** poses a danger to clients seeking care in these health care facilities and other health care *** Institutions must have clear policies on engagement of new staff relating to such communicable diseases based on existing Nigerian labour laws including the Workman Compensation *** must also implement policies on universal precautions to safeguard the health workers and clients in their *** enlightenment on the National Program on Immunization(NPI) must be intensified as a strategy to reduce the prevalence of HbSAg and its attendant consequences.

Rhynchostegium megapolitanum was observed during a study of the effects of the invasive nonnative Rosa rugosa in a sand dune. The vascular as well as the epiphytic and epigeic cryptogam vegetation was recorded., and soil properties were measured. Epihytic lichens were abundant on dead or dying branches of Rosa rugosa scrubs, under which the stable substrate and high light exposure provided growth conditions for an epigeic community dominated by lichens and bryophytes. The occurrence of the rare bryophyte Rhynchostegium megapolitanum is discussed.

To summarize the long-term complications after pancreas transplantation that affect graft function,a literature search was carried out on the long-term complications of pancreatic transplantation,namely,complications from postoperative 3rd mo onwards,in terms of loss of graft function,late infection and vascular complications as *** most relevant reviews and studies were selected to obtain the current evidence on these *** definition of graft failure varies among different studies,so it is difficult to evaluate,a standardized definition is of utmost importance to know the magnitude of the problem in all worldwide *** rejection is the main cause of long-term graft failure,occurring in 10%of *** the 3rd mo of transplantation onwards,the main risk factor for late infections is immunosuppression,and patients have opportunistic infections like:Cytomegalovirus,hepatitis b and C viruses,Epstein-barr virus and varicella-zoster virus;opportunistic bacteria,reactivation of latent infections as tuberculosis or fungal *** preoperative studies and serological tests should be made in all recipients to avoid these infections,adding perioperative prophylactic treatments when *** are uncommon,but one of the main causes of late bleeding,which can be *** treatment should be performed with radiological endovascular approaches or open surgery in case of *** all therapeutic options for the complications mentioned above,transplantectomy is a necessary option in approximately 50%of relaparotomies,especially in lifethreatening *** complications in pancreatic transplantation threatens long-term graft *** exhaustive follow-up as well as a correct immunosuppression protocol are necessary for prevention.

Assessing the Performance of Two Hydrologic Models for Forecasting Daily Streamflows in the Cazones River basin (Mexico)

Floods have caused significant human and economic losses in the Cazones River basin, located on the Gulf of Mexico. Despite this knowledge, steps towards the design and implementation of an early warning system for the Cazones are still a pending task. In this study we contributed by establishing a hydrological scheme for forecasting mean daily discharges in the Cazones basin. For these purposes, we calibrated, validated and compared the HyMod model (HM) which is physics-based, and an autoregressive-based model coupled with the Discrete Kalman Filter (ARX-DKF). The ability of both models to accurately predict discharges proved satisfactory results during the validation period with RMSEb>HYMODb> = 2.77 [mm/day];and RMSEb>ARX-DKFb> = [2.38 mm/day]. Further analysis based on a Streamflow Assimilation Ratio (SAR) revealed that both models underestimate the discharges in a similar proportion. This evaluation also showed that, under the most common conditions, the simpler stochastic model (ARX-DKF) performs better;however, under extreme hydrological conditions the deterministic HM model reveals a better performance. These results are discussed under the context of future applications and additional requirements needed to implement an early warning hydrologic system for the Cazones basin.

bicuculline-insensitive receptors for the inhibitory neurotransmitter γ-aminobutyric acid (GAbA), GAbAb receptors, are a distinct subclass of receptors that mediate depression of synaptic transmission and contribute to neu-ronal inhibition. When activated, these receptors reduce transmission at excitatory and inhibitory synapses, as a result of an increase in K+ conductance, or a decrease in voltage-dependent Ca2+ currents. They are also linked to G-proteins, or intracellular effector systems in a very complex manner. The recent development of highly specific and potent agonists and antagonists for these receptors has led to a much better understanding of their physiology and pharmacology, including their heterogeneity, as well as their molecular biology. Over the past year, expression and cloning studies have contributed to major advances in characterizing GAbAb receptor structure, with the discovery of the amino acid sequences of GAbAbRla/R1b splice variants and GAbAbR2 receptors.
