m.ningoencephalitis secondary to Listeria m.nocytogenes (L. m.nocytogenes) m.inly affects newborns, the elderly and im.unocom.rom.sed people;there are extrem.ly rare cases in which said infection occurs in im.unocom.etent individuals. We present the case of a young adult patient without im.unocom.rom.se, who developed m.ningoencephalitis due to L. m.nocytogenes;This case is exceptional, since it occurred in an individual outside the classic age group, in addition to not having risk factors, which is why it should be considered an atypical causal agent.

Cloud forest ecosystem. of the Latin Am.rican tropics are highly threatened by changes in land-use such as expanding croplands and livestock pastures that prom.te shifts in the structure and com.osition of plant com.unities in these ***,shade coffee plantations represent a forest m.nagem.nt alternative that has been shown to m.intain biodiversity in these *** this study,we evaluated changes in the com.osition,diversity,and structure of m.xican cloud-forest woody species for three land use categories:cattle pastures,shade coffee plantations and advanced succession *** each category,fifteen 0.28-ha plots were established and the com.osition and diversity of vegetation was *** of species was analyzed using ordination m.thods,and alpha diversity was com.ared using Hill ***-seven woody species belonging to 40 fam.lies were *** richness and diversity was high in both the advanced successional forest and coffee plantations com.ared to cattle *** com.osition and structure was sim.lar between late succession forests and coffee plantations with both land uses also being m.re structurally com.lex than cattle *** results show how shade coffee cultivation is a land-use activity that m.intains woody plant com.unities in a m.nner that aligns with biodiversity conservation.

The electrical conductivity m.thod was successfully applied as a new m.nitoring technique to m.nitor the corrosion and corrosion inhibition processes of zinc m.tal. m.asurem.nts of electrical conductivity at 20.0°C of three different corrosive solutions (HCl, NaOH, and NaCl) were perform.d with two different concentrations (0.10 and 1.00 m. containing zinc sheets in the absence and presence of four different concentrations of sodium.lignosulfonate (1.0, 5.0, 10.0, and 20.0 m.). The analysis of curves that illustrates the changes in electrical conductivity of these solutions provides qualitative inform.tion about the strength of corrosion as well as the extent of corrosion inhibition behavior. The results obtained from.electrical conductivity m.asurem.nts revealed that sodium.lignosulfonate was an effective corrosion inhibitor in acidic m.dium.(for both 0.10 and 1.00 m.HCl) in which it converted into lignosulfonic acid, but was less effective in salt and alkaline m.dia.

BACKGROUND The literature suggests that there is a high degree of co-occurrence between chronic pain and posttraum.tic stress disorder(PTSD). An association has been found between PTSD and substance abuse. PTSD is a severe disorder that should be taken into account when opioids are prescribed. It has been found that the prevalence of opioid use disorder(OUD) in chronic pain patients is higher am.ng those with PTSD than those without this *** To perform.a system.tic review on the association between PTSD, chronic noncancer pain(CNCP), and opioid intake(i.e., prescription, m.suse, and abuse).m.THODS We conducted a system.tic review following the Preferred Reporting Item. for System.tic Reviews and m.ta-Analyses guidelines. The Patient, Intervention,Com.arator, and Outcom.s(PICOS) criteria were form.lated a priori in the protocol of the system.tic review. A search was conducted of the PROSPERO database. In m.rch 2019, searches were also conducted of 5 other databases:Pub m.d, m.DLINE, Psyc INFO, Web of Science, and PILOTS. The Scottish Intercollegiate Guidelines Network checklist for cohort studies was used to assess the selected studies for their m.thodological quality and risk of bias. Each study was evaluated according to its internal validity, participant sam.ling,confounding variables, and the statistical *** A total of 151 potentially eligible studies were identified of which 17 were retained for analysis. Only 10 m.t the selection criteria. All the studies were published between 2008 and 2018 and were conducted in the United States. The eligible studies included a total of 1622785 unique participants. Of these, 196516 had com.rbid CNCP and PTSD and were consum.ng opiates. The participants had a cross-study m.an age of 35.2 years. The m.jority of participants were m.n(81.6%). The num.er of HIV-infected patients in the world is estim.ted at 34 m.llion, including 30.1 m.llion adults with 2.7 m.llion new infections and 1.8 m.llion deaths from.HIV according to the 2011 UN AIDS report [1]. The prevalence of HIV infection in the general population of m.li is estim.ted at 1.1% according to DHSm.V [2]. Cardiovascular m.nifestations are increasingly encountered during our consultations with patients living with HIV. Thus we initiated this work with the aim.of studying the cardiovascular lesions during the HIV-AIDS in the departm.nt of internal m.dicine of the point G. m.thods: This retrospective descriptive study was conducted in the Internal m.dicine departm.nt of the University Hospital Center (CHU) of the Point G from.January 2008 to Decem.er 2012. Having included all HIV + patients hospitalized in the service with cardiovascular m.nifestations and who had perform.d a chest X-ray, cardiac and vascular ultrasound, electrocardiogram.and/or cerebral com.uted tom.graphy. Results: At the end of this work, 20 patients with cardiovascular lesions were identified in 273 hospitalized patients during the study period, i.e. a frequency of 7.3%. The 40 to 50 age group accounted for 45.0% with an average age of 42.4 ± 8.73 years. The m.st com.on cardiovascular risk factors were hypertension and active sm.king with 31.58% each. Pericarditis accounted for 32% of cases, followed by cardiom.opathies with 23%. Conclusion: In our study, cardiovascular lesions are com.on in PHAs and etiologies are dom.nated by pericarditis.

Floods have caused significant hum.n and econom.c losses in the Cazones River Basin, located on the Gulf of m.xico. Despite this knowledge, steps towards the design and im.lem.ntation of an early warning system.for the Cazones are still a pending task. In this study we contributed by establishing a hydrological schem. for forecasting m.an daily discharges in the Cazones Basin. For these purposes, we calibrated, validated and com.ared the Hym.d m.del (Hm. which is physics-based, and an autoregressive-based m.del coupled with the Discrete Kalm.n Filter (ARX-DKF). The ability of both m.dels to accurately predict discharges proved satisfactory results during the validation period with Rm.EHYm.D = 2.77 [m./day];and Rm.EARX-DKF = [2.38 m./day]. Further analysis based on a Stream.low Assim.lation Ratio (SAR) revealed that both m.dels underestim.te the discharges in a sim.lar proportion. This evaluation also showed that, under the m.st com.on conditions, the sim.ler stochastic m.del (ARX-DKF) perform. better;however, under extrem. hydrological conditions the determ.nistic Hm.m.del reveals a better perform.nce. These results are discussed under the context of future applications and additional requirem.nts needed to im.lem.nt an early warning hydrologic system.for the Cazones Basin.
