Mean and Interannual Variability of maize and Soybean in Brazil under Global Warming Conditions

Brazil is responsible for 27% of the world production of soybeans and 7% of maize. mato Grosso and Para states in Brazil are among the largest producer. The viability to the cultivation of maize (Zea mays) and soybeans (Glycine max), for future climate scenarios (2070-2100, GHG) is evaluated based on crop modeling (DSSAT) forced by observational data and regional climate simulations (HadRM3). The results demonstrated that a substantial reduction in the yield in particular for maize may be expected for the end of the 21st century. Distinct results are found for soybeans. By applying the A2 climate changes scenario, soybean yield rises by up top 60% assuming optimum soil treatment and no water stress. However, by analyzing the inter-annual variability of crop yields for both maize and soybean, could be demonstrated larger year-to-year fluctuations under greenhouse warming conditions as compared to current conditions, leading to very low productivity by the end of the 21st century. Therefore, these Brazilian states do not appear to be economically suitable for a future cultivation of maize and soybeans. Improved adaptation measures and soil management may however partially alleviate the negative climate change effect.

Population growth has consequences for intense use of aquatic ecosystems. Samples were taken, between 2013 and 2014, in the reservoirs ＂Algodoeiro＂ and ＂Gloria＂ in Sergipe, Brazil. TSI （Trophic State Index） and WQI （Water Quality Index） were used. It was determined the parameters such as conductivity, dissolved oxygen, total nitrogen, total phosphorus and chlorophyll. TSI has been applied, in ＂Algodoeiro＂, which was classified as mesotrophic. With the increase of rainfall in 2014, this reservoir changed its condition to eutrophic. ＂Gloria＂ reservoir was already classified in super-eutrophication. Regarding the WQI, the reservoirs were classified in Class IV, indicating a critically degraded condition.

The new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) broke out in Wuhan in China in december 2019, causing severe pneumonia and deaths, soon in march 2020, it reached pandemic level, affecting several countries including Brazil. The disease was named COVID-19, with characteristics of most infected having mild and moderate symptoms and a part severe symptom. The disease has already reached 158 ethnic groups, which have high vulnerability and limited access to health services. The objective is to investigate the clinical and spatial characteristics of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome of COVID-19 in the indigenous peoples of Brazil. It is an epidemiological, cross-sectional, analytical ecological study, based on data from the OpenDataSUS platform from 01/01/2020 to 31/08/2020. Profile variables, signs and symptoms and risk factors/comorbidities. The data were analyzed by Bioestat 5.3. There were 1,207 cases and 470 deaths. Profile: male gender (59.48%) means age 53 years. Signs and symptoms: fever (74.23%), cough (77.71%), sore throat (35.62%), dyspnea (69.34%), respiratory discomfort (62.80%), O2 saturation 2 saturation deaths (54.04%). About comorbidities, chronic cardiovascular diseases represented (18.97%) and Diabetes Mellitus (18.97%), and associated with deaths: Chronic Cardiovascular Disease (24.46%). Being admitted to the ICU has a risk of death in (OR-3.96- razil should be directed to control the dissemination of COVID-19 in this population, that COVID-19 evolves in the same intensity, however, the indigenous have vulnerabilities that can increase the impact of the pandemic in this population.

Accuracy of gestalt perception of acute chest pain in predicting coronary artery disease

AIM To test accuracy and reproducibility of gestalt to predict obstructive coronary artery disease(CAD)in patients with acute chest *** We studied individuals who were consecutively admitted to our Chest Pain *** admission,investigators performed a standardized interview and recorded14 chest pain *** on these features,a cardiologist who was blind to other clinical characteristics made unstructured judgment of CAD probability,both numerically and *** the reference standard for testing the accuracy of gestalt,angiography was required to rule-in CAD,while either angiography or non-invasive test could be used to *** order to assess reproducibility,a second cardiologist did the same *** In a sample of 330 patients,the prevalence of obstructive CAD was 48%.Gestalt’s numerical probability was associated with CAD,but the area under the curve of0.61(95%CI:0.55-0.67)indicated low level of ***,categorical definition of typical chest pain had a sensitivity of 48%(95%CI:40%-55%)and specificity of 66%(95%CI:59%-73%),yielding a negligible positive likelihood ratio of 1.4(95%CI:0.65-2.0)and negative likelihood ratio of 0.79(95%CI:0.62-1.02).Agreement between the two cardiologists was poor in the numerical classification(95%limits of agreement=-71%to 51%)and categorical definition of typical pain(Kappa=0.29;95%CI:0.21-0.37).CONCLUSION Clinical judgment based on a combination of chest pain features is neither accurate nor reproducible in predicting obstructive CAD in the acute setting.

Microbial Attributes of Infested Soil Suppressive to Bacterial Wilt by Bokashi Amendments

Bacterial wilt, caused by ralstonia solanacearum, is a major tomato disease in tropical and sub-tropical regions. It is difficult to be managed, since no single measure confers significant contribution for disease control. Among the cultural practices available for disease management, bokashi provides nutrients to the plants, increasing the microbial biomass, improving the quality of the soil and, in some cases, protecting plants against diseases. In this work, we evaluated the effect of three different bokashis (Embrapa—BE;poultry—BP and cattle—BC) in two soils artificially and naturally infested with R. solanacearum, on the suppression of bacterial wilt in tomato. Disease control is discussed upon measurements on the contents of microbial biomass carbon (MBC), on total organic carbon (TOC), on basal respiration (BR), on metabolic coefficient (qCO2) and on microbial coefficient (qMIC). The experiment was implemented in greenhouse, with completely randomized design and factorial arrangement of treatments 2 × 3 (two soils × three bokashis). Disease suppression, assessed through wilt incidence 20 and 30 days after transplanting, was better observed in the naturally infested soil, where BP and BE were more efficient in controling the disease. TOC contents were higher in the artificially infested soil compared to that naturally infested, whereas the qMIC presented higher value for the naturally infested soil, which had greater contribution of MBC. Higher rates of BR and qCO2 were observed for the naturally infested soil with BC, probably indicating high plant stress caused by the disease in this treatment. Moreover, a high and positive correlation coefficient was found between the variables qCO2 and the number of infected plants at 30 days after transplanting. In the artificially infested soil, a negative correlation was found between the number of infected plants at 20 days after transplanting and TOC.

This study evaluated the effect of enriched artemia nauplii with commercial probiotic for angelfish larvae determining growth perfomance,survival and modulation of the intestinal ***,it experiment occurred in completely randomized design with five treatments(T1-0.0,T2-1.5,T3-3.0,T4-4.5 and T5-6.0g of commercial probiotic)and four replaces during 20 *** larvaculture,post larvae passed by biometric procedures to determine productive performance and then microbiological *** reduction of total heterotrophic bacteria while increased lactic acid bacteria in the intestinal tract from the post larvae for treatments T3,T4 and *** commercial probiotic also increased the survival and performance as final weight,weight gain and specific growth *** these reasons,the use of 3g of commercial probiotic promotes greater performance and intestinal modulation for angelfish larvae.

Use of Initial Modified RECIST Tumor Response Evaluation Criteria for Predicting Survival in Patients with Hepatocellular Carcinoma Undergoing Transarterial Chemoembolization with Drug-Eluting Beads

Introduction: Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE) reduces tumor growth and increases survival in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Drug-eluting beads (deB) deliver slow-release chemotherapy and reduce systemic toxicity during TACE. This study correlated initial tumor response according to modified RECIST (mRECIST) criteria and 1-year survival in patients with HCC treated with TACE-deB, and identified predictors of tumor response. Methods: Fifty-two patients with HCC received TACE-deB loaded with doxorubicin 75 mg during a 6-month period. Tumor response was evaluated 1 month after the procedure according to mRECIST criteria. Results: Most patients were cirrhotic and etiology of liver disease was hepatitis C in 26/52 (50%). Similar numbers of patients had Barcelona Clinic Liver Cancer (BCLC) A and BCLC B disease. Most patients had one nodule (66%). Complete response (CR) was achieved in 12/52 (23%), partial response in 19/52 (37%), stable disease in 4/52 (8%) and progressive disease in 17/52 (32%). Largest HCC ≤58 mm and BCLC stage A were associated with CR. The 1-year survival was 74%, with survival rates of 95% and 56% in the BCLC A and B groups, respectively. Variables reflecting tumor extension were associated with better survival. CR according to mRECIST criteria was a predictor of better 1-year survival (100% vs. 64%, P deB. Further studies are needed to evaluate other predictors of survival and to determine if tumor response predicts long-term survival.

Production of Lettuce Seedlings with Association of Diazotrophic Bacteria and Humic Acids

The objective of this work was to verify the responses in agronomic and physiological characters of lettuce seedlings when submitted to different doses of humic acids and the presence or absence of inoculation of the bacterium Azospirillum brasilense. The experiment was carried out at the Protected Cultivation Station and Biological Control Teacher Mário César lopes, belonging to the Experimental Stations Nucleus of the State University of the West of Paraná. The experimental design was a randomized block design, in a 5 × 2 factorial scheme, with four repetitions, totaling 40 plots. The first factor consisted of five solutions containing humic acid (100%, 75%, 50%, 25% and 0%) and the second factor was the presence or absence of the diazotrophic bacterium Azospirillum brasilense obtained by commercial product. Germination tests were carried out in addition to the determination of agronomic characters such as the number of fully expanded leaves, plant height, stem diameter, main root length, shoot dry mass, root dry mass, total dry mass, and Dickson quality index. The association of diazotrophic bacteria and humic acids did not influence the emergency rate, mean emergence time, mean speed of emergency, emergence speed index, plant height, and root length of lettuce seedlings. The dilutions of humic acids, regardless of inoculation with bacteria diazotrophic favored the development of the number of leaves, stem diameter and Dickson quality index. Inoculation of lettuce seeds with diazotrophic bacteria associated with the addition of humic acids, favored the development of the dry mass of root and total dry matter.

枯草芽孢杆菌是消化道内一种短期微生物,对动物不致病,能形成孢子耐冷热环境。作为动物饲料益生菌,可提高饲料消化率和动物免疫力。试验探讨了枯草芽孢杆菌孢子对奶牛产奶量、乳成分和饲料消化率的影响。两项试验中,哺乳期奶牛均在饲料槽中饲喂,每天喂1次料。试验1中,18头荷斯坦奶牛在泌乳后期(产奶246±75 d)饲喂枯草芽孢杆菌C-3102(菌落形成3.0×109·d^(-1)孢子)或安慰剂,共39 d,在此过程中,有10 d的空白期,28 d进行饲喂后进行评估。添加枯草芽孢杆菌对饲料摄入量无显著变化(18.3 kg·d^(-1),P=0.91),产奶量无显著变化(25.3 kg·d^(-1),P=0.66),乳中固体物浓度和含量、总消化道养分消化率和反刍活动均无显著变化。试验2选取20头奶牛(产奶161±72 d),牛奶体细胞数(725 000个·mL^(-1)),试验为期16周,随着时间推移,随机分组设计的相关变量重复进行调整适应。枯草芽孢杆菌显著增加了产奶量(25.3和23.6 kg·d^(-1),P=0.02),显著增加乳蛋白质含量(0.816和0.763 kg·d^(-1),P=0.01),乳中总固体物含量增加(2.718和2.566 kg·d^(-1),P=0.05),牛奶总能量显著增加(60.7和56.5 MJ·d^(-1),P=0.02),牛奶尿素氮含量有降低趋势(19.3和20.8 mg·dL^(-1),P=0.06)。牛奶中体细胞含量各组间无显著差异。哺乳期奶牛饲料中添加枯草芽孢杆菌孢子作为益生菌,饲喂16周对饲料消化率无显著影响。
