Treatment of Ru(CO)(Cl)(H)(PPh3)3 with NaLOEt (LOEt-= [CpCo{P(O)(OEt)2}3]-) afforded the hydride complex (PPh3)(CO)-LOEtRu(H) (1), which has been characterized by X-ray crystallography. Similarly, the tricyclohexylphosphine analogue, (PCy3)(CO)LOEtRu(H) (2), was synthesized from Ru(CO)Cl(H)(PCy3)2 and NaLOEt. Treatment of complex 1 with R'SO2N3 afforded the (arylsulfonyl)amido complexes LOEtRu(CO)(PPh3)(NHSO2R) (R = 2,4,6-i-Pr3C6H2 (3), 4-t-BuC6H4 (4)). The crystal structure of complex 3 has been determined. The Ru-N distance and Ru-N-S angle in 3 are 2.076(3) and 126.14(16)°, respectively. Reactions of complex 1 with acids have been studied.

Treatment of RuCl2(PPh3)3 with 6-dimethylaminopentafulvene in THF in the presence of water produced(η5-C5H4Cho) RuCl(PPh3)2, which was reduced by NaBH4 to give the Ru–H···ho dihydrogen bonded complex(η5-C5H4CH2OH) RuH(PPh3)2. The dihydrogen bonded complex(η5-C5H4CH2OH)RuH(PPh3)2 could also be synthesized by the reduction of complex(η5-C5H4Cho)RuH(PPh3)2, which was obtained by the reaction of RuHCl(PPh3)3 with 6-dimethylaminopentafulvene in the presence of water. The analogous dihydrogen bonded osmium complex(η5-C5H4CH2OH)OsH(PPh3)2 was similarly prepared. Single crystal structures and DFT calculations support the presence of intra-molecular H···H interaction, with separations of around 1.9 to 2.0 .

Performance of Weibull function as a diameter distribution model for Pinus thunbergii stands in the eastern coast of South Korea

This study was carried out to determine the performance of percentile-based Weibull diameter distribution model for Pinus thunbergii stands thriving along the eastern coast of South Korea. The parameter recovery technique was used to estimate the three parameters of the Weibull model. The analysis demonstrated satisfactory results based on the following test statistics for the principal percentile models： fit index （FI） range from 0.501（minimum diameter） to 0.932 （50th diameter percentiles） and root mean square error （RMSE） range from 0.112 （quadratic mean diameter） to 3.572 （minimum diameter）. The developed model was further evaluated by determining the mean bias （E） in trees per ha （TPH） for each diameter class, and the results showed highest over-prediction in the 20 cm, and under-prediction in the x6 cm and 24 cm diameter classes. The goodness of fit tested by Kolmogorov- Smirnov （KS） test showed no significant differences （P〉0.05） between the observed and predicted diameter distributions for almost all plots. Using site index and aboveground biomass （AGB） models developed for P. thunbergii in South Korea, a model to predict the AGB per ha for each diameter class and subsequently the total AGB of the stand was created. An application guide was also created, which will serve as a decision-support tool for forest managers in quantifying the future total AGB in P. thunbergii stands located in the eastern coast of South Korea and, subsequently, the quantification of potential carbon stocks aside from being a vital input in designing efficient management and protection strategies for these stands.

Background Aging of population in Macao has become a serious problem and we are diagnosing more and more patients with prostate cancer. To investigate the effect of ethnicity and environment on incidence of prostate carcinoma, we compared the difference of biopsy and postoperative pathology of prostate between indigenous Chinese （Chinese） and Chinese of Portuguese descent （Portuguese） with elevated serologic prostate specific antigen （PSA） and incidence of prostate carcinoma in Macao.Methods Between 1999 and 2006, prostate biopsy was performed in a random sample of 462 patients with elevated serologic PSA who, on followup, were diagnosed in this hospital with benign prostate hyperplasia. Of these, 416 were indigenous Chinese, 46 Portuguese. Based on demographic statistics by Macao government for 2005, we compared differences in incidences of prostate carcinoma, positive rate of random prostate biopsy in patients with elevated serologic PSA, factors related to serological PSA and pathological grade and stage between both ethnic groups.Results Prostate carcinoma was diagnosed on biopsy in 178 cases. Positive biopsies of prostate carcinoma were present in 160 Chinese with positive rate of 38.5% and in 18 Portuguese with 39.1%. For patients diagnosed with prostate carcinoma, there was no significant difference in age, incidence, grade of cancerous cells, stage of the disease, incidence of inflammation of prostatic tissues or prostatic intraepithelial neoplasia （PIN） related to elevated PSA between the groups （All P〉0.05）.Conclusions There was no significant difference in incidence or characteristics of prostate carcinoma between people of Portuguese and Chinese descent in Macao based on our limited data. Long term residence in the same environment may be associated with the incidence and progression of prostate carcinoma in Portuguese living in Macao, but further rigorous epidemiological investigation and analysis of risk factors about prostate carcinoma are neede

This study examines the rare earth elements and yttrium(REY)concentrations of twenty-five samples from the reef outcrop exposed along the Lianglitage Mountain in the Ordovician,Tarim Basin in *** concentration analysis provides constraints on the paleoenvironment during reef *** on the detailed sedimentology and petrographic work,we divide the reef facies into four sub-facies:the base facies,reef-core facies,reef-flank facies,and sealing *** geochemical data(such as major and trace elements,carbon and oxygen isotopes,and REYs)are further used to study the coeval seawater characteristics as well as potential diagenesis *** result indicated that the diagenesis has little effect on the REY patterns of the reefal *** REY concentrations of the reefal limestones are overall low(ranging from 3.69 to 19.60 ppm,arithmetic mean=10.22 ppm,SD=5.4).The PAAS-normalized REY patterns are consistently flat compared to the typical well-oxidized,shallow marine water ***,the light REE(LREE)depletions,positive La anomalies,negative Ce anomalies and positive Y anomalies,suggest that these reefal limestones are likely an indicative of contemporaneous seawater REY *** seawater-like Y/ho ratios(average at 37.51)further support that REY signals in these limestones are likely a reflection of seawater with little diagenetic *** low Y/ho ratios presented only in the reef-flank facies and sealing facies are likely a suggestion of detrital ***,this study confirms that REY patterns of the limestones at the base facies and reef-core facies can record ancient seawater information,and reefs can be used as a potential geochemical proxy for paleoenvironment studies throughout the Earth’s history.

Background Many studies have shown that positive surgical margin and biochemical recurrence could impact the life of patients with prostate cancer treated with radical prostatectomy. With more and more patients with prostate cancer appeared in recent 20 years in China, it is necessary to investigate the risk of positive surgical margin and biochemical recurrence, and their possible impact on the prognosis of patients treated with radical prostatectomy. In this study, we analyzed the characteristics of patients with prostate cancer who had undergone radical prostatectomy in Macao area and tried to find any risk factor of positive surgical margin and biochemical recurrence and their relationship with the proanosis of these oatients.
