Four strains of the Q biotype and one of the B biotype of the whitefly Bem.sia tabaci collected from.China were characterised for resistance to four neonicotinoid insecticides and pym.trozine.Q biotype strains showed m.derate to strong resistance to im.dacloprid,thiam.thoxam.and acetam.prid,but little or no cross-resistance to *** to neonicotinoids was consistently associated with resistance to pym.trozine,despite the latter having a distinct（though unresolved）m.de of *** single B biotype strain proved largely susceptible to all the insecticides *** in the Q biotype strains was associated with over-expression of a cytochrom. P450 m.nooxygenase gene,CYP6Cm.,whose substrate specificity presum.bly accounts for the observed cross-resistance profiles.

In view of the im.ortance of m.fic dyke swarm. and their contribution to current scientific problem. relating to South China,herein,we present the findings of studies on twenty–five representative m.fic dykes cropping out in Hunan Province and Guangxi Zhuang Autonom.us Region,within the southern Wuling m.untain gravity lineam.nt,*** results include new zircon LA-ICP-m. U-Pb age,whole rock geochem.cal,Sr-Nd-Pb isotopic,and zircon Hf isotopic data for these *** dykes form.d between 131.5±1.2 and 121.6±1.1 m.,and have typical doleritic *** fall into the alkaline and shoshonitic series,are enriched in light rare earth elem.nts(LREE),som. large ion lithophile elem.nts(LILE;e.g.,Rb,Ba,and Sr),Th,U,and Pb,and are depleted in Nb,Ta,Hf,and ***,the dolerites have high initial 87 Sr/86 Sr ratios(0.7055–0.7057),negativeεNd(t)and zirconεHf(t)values(-14.8 to-11.9,-30.4 to-14.9),and relatively constant initial Pb isotopic ratios(that are Em.-like,16.77–16.94,15.43–15.47,and 36.84–36.92 for 206 Pb/204 Pb,207 Pb/204 Pb,and 208 Pb/204 Pb,respectively).These results indicate that the dykes were likely derived from.m.gm. generated through low-degree partial m.lting(1.0%–10%)of an Em.-like garnet–lherzolite m.ntle *** parental m.gm.s fractionated olivine,clinopyroxene,plagioclase,and Ti-bearing phases with negligible crustal contam.nation,during ascent and dyke *** possible m.dels have been proposed to explain the origin of m.sozoic m.gm.tism.along the Wuling m.untain gravity *** we propose a reasonable m.del for the origin of these m.fic dykes,involving the collision between the paleo-Pacific Plate and South China,which led to subsequent lithospheric extension and asthenosphere upwelling,resulting in partial m.lting the underlying m.ntle lithosphere in the Early Cretaceous,to form.the parental m.gm.s to the Wm.L m.fic dykes,as studied.

Classification of groundwater conditions at the watershed scale synthesizes landscape hydrology, provides a m.pped sum.ary of groundwater resources, and supports water m.nagem.nt decisions. The application of a recently developed watershed-scale groundwater classification m.thodology is applied and evaluated in the 100,000 hectare lower Ruby Valley watershed of southwestern m.ntana. The geologic setting, groundwater flow direction, aquifer productivity, water quality, anthropogenic im.act to water levels, depth to groundwater, and the degree of connection between groundwater and surface water are key com.onents of the classification schem.. This work describes the hydrogeology of the lower Ruby Valley watershed and illustrates how the classification system.is applied to assem.le, analyze, and sum.arize groundwater data. The classification process provides inform.tion in sum.ary tables and m.ps of seam.ess digital overlays prepared using geographical inform.tion system.(GIS) software. Groundwater conditions in the watershed are classified as low production bedrock aquifers in the m.untainous uplands that recharge the m.derate productivity basin-fill sedim.nts. Groundwater levels approach the surface near the Ruby River resulting in sufficient groundwater discharge to m.intain stream.flow during dry, late sum.er conditions. The resulting classification data sets provide watershed m.nagers with a standardized organizational tool that represents groundwater conditions at the watershed scale.

The brassinosteroid （BR） receptor, BR insensitive 1 （BRI1）, plays a critical role in plant developm.nt, but whether BRI1-m.diated BR signaling is involved in plant defense responses to herbivores was largely unknown. Here, we exam.ned the function of BRI1 in the resistance of Nicotiana attenuata （Solanaceae） to its specialist insect herbivore m.nduca sexta. Jasm.nic acid （JA） and JA-isoleucine conjugate （JA-Ile） are im.ortant horm.nes that m.diate resistance to herbivores and we found that after wounding or sim.lated herbivory NaBRI1 had little effect on JA levels, but was im.ortant for the induction of JA-Ile. Further experim.nts revealed that decreased JAR （the enzym. for JA-Ile production） activity and availability of Ile in NaBRI1-silenced plants were likely responsible for the low JA-Ile levels. Consistently, m. sexta larvae gained m.re weight on NaBRI1-silenced plants than on the control plants. Quantification of insect feeding-induced secondary m.tabolites revealed that silencing NaBRI1 resulted in decreased levels of carbon-rich defensive secondary m.tabolites （hydroxygeranyllinalool diterpene glycosides, chlorogenic acid, and rutin）, but had little effect on the nitrogen-rich ones （nicotine and trypsin proteinase inhibitors）. Thus, NaBRI1-m.diated BR signaling is likely involved in plant defense responses to m. sexta, including m.intaining JA-Ile levels and the accum.lation of several carbon-rich defensive secondary m.tabolites.

This paper describes an experim.ntal investigation on the flow characteristics within a rotating cylinder containing a rolling bed of sand. The axis of the cylinder was horizontal and there was no axial bulk flow of particles. The velocity field of the gas flowing through the cylinder was m.asured by hot-wire anem.m.try. The m.asurem.nts indicate that the velocity field is asym.etric with respect to a diam.ter perpendicular to the granular bed. CFD calculations confirm.this finding. The gas velocity profiles are crucial in determ.ning heat transfer from.gas to solid.

The understanding of cholesterol and its pathogenesis to Alzheim.r’s disease (AD) pathogenic process is im.ortant for the possible prevention of AD. High fibre diets that contain phytosterols have been shown to lower LDL and increase HDL cholesterol and are im.licated in m.m.rane cholesterol and am.loid beta (Aβ) hom.ostasis. The convergence of diet and AD m.y be related to the effects of phytosterols since plasm. cholesterol is closely linked and regulated by phytosterols. Dietary fibre m.difications that are low in fat and glucose reduce the risk for AD by not only effecting cell m.m.ranes and nutrient sensing G coupled receptors but also by regulating num.er of nuclear receptors such as histone deacetylases (HDAC) and peroxisom. proliferator activated receptors (PPAR) that control glucose, fatty acids and cholesterol and have significant effects on the brain cholesterol hom.ostasis and am.loidosis. The peripheral sink Aβ hypothesis indicates that the peripheral clearance of Aβ and its regulation by dietary phytosterols is of substantial interest since it m.y delay hypercholesterolem.a and the early onset of am.loid plaque developm.nt. Liver disease has been of central im.ortance with aging and program.ed cell death pathways. Nutritional therapy has em.rged as a novel approach to control appetite and the role of nutrigenom.cs as an early nutritional therapy m.y assist genes to delay liver and brain diseases such as Parkinson’s disease (PD) and Huntington’s disease (HD) that are associated with aging. In this paper we consider extrem. points and support points for com.act subclasses of norm.lized biholom.rphic m.ppings of the Euclidean unit ball Bn in Cn. We consider the class S0(Bn) of biholom.rphic m.ppings on Bn which have param.tric representation, i.e., they are the initial elem.nts f (·, 0) of a Loewner chain f (z, t) = etz + ··· such that {e-tf (·, t)}t 0 is a norm.l fam.ly on Bn. We show that if f (·, 0) is an extrem. point (respectively a support point) of S0(Bn), then e-tf (·, t) is an extrem. point of S0(Bn) for t 0 (respectively a support point of S0(Bn) for t ∈[0, t0] and som. t0 > 0). This is a generalization to the n-dim.nsional case of work due to Pell. Also, we prove analogous results for m.ppings which belong to S0(Bn) and which are bounded in the norm.by a fixed constant. We relate the study of this class to reachable sets in control theory generalizing work of Roth. Finally we consider extrem. points and support points for biholom.rphic m.ppings of Bn generated by using extension operators that preserve Loewner chains.
